Calling all Musicians!
We're gonna do a small contest.
The idea is for people to submit music/singing accompaniment for the lyrics to the songs "My Little Hummingbird" and/or "Accidentally On Purpose". The lyrics for both songs can be found in Siren Song Chapter 2.
I will accept
applications for submitting music until the end of August. Send all applications to
JonesyStories@gmail.com. An application can just be like "Hey Jonesy, I wanna do "Hummingbird"" or something similar. Please include your name, some way to contact you electronically, and which song(s) you'd like to do.
PLEASE DO NOT POST APPLICATIONS IN THE COMMENTS OF THIS POST. But feel free to leave any questions in the comments.
The deadline for the actual
submissions will be September 30, 2024.After all submissions are in, I will let my top two tiers ($10/$25) of Patreon and Subscribestar supporters vote for their favorite. The winning songs will be put into the game and your name/band name will appear in the credits as the performer(s) of the song(s). (After winning, you will be required to sign a release form granting me permission to use this music in my game.) The initial submission doesn't have to be a fancy studio-level recording, but it does need to be in a common audio format (.mp3, .wav, .ogg, etc) and of a decent sound quality. A phone video/audio would be fine at first - then maybe polish it up with GarageBand or whatever later.
As far as tone/feel goes, when I wrote the lyrics to "Hummingbird" I kinda had a few different songs in my head, but mainly "I'm on Fire" by Bruce Springsteen and "Way Over Yonder" by Billy Bragg and Wilco, more for the feel and rhythm than anything else. "Accidentally" similarly had influences from a bunch of different songs/artists, but I mainly drew inspiration from "The House That Built Me" by Miranda Lambert. You don't have to use either of these as inspiration, (in fact I'd love to know what type of song you heard in your head while reading the words) I just want you to know where my head was when I wrote the lyrics.
Other than that, I'd love to hear what you come up with. Just upload your song to a Google Drive or something similar and send a link to
JonesyStories@gmail.com.
Thanks, and I hope to hear some Siren Songs soon!
