If you mean 3d models I'm not using any, the images and videos are mostly taken from Kink.

Yeah, you're totally right. I'm not planning on doing a patreon, this is really just a hobby.

My plan for the "training progression" problem is to divide the game content into two main streams. The first is randomly generated girls, who comprise the core gameplay loop of capture/train/sell, which will have no continuity of model between actions (although I might later implement broad categories of image to be bundled in packs, i.e young, old, busty, flat, etc.). This will allow for a broader range of training activities, and images that suit them. The second content stream will focus on narrative heavy training sequences, which focus on individual models and develops their character in the story. This stream will also include the bulk of the video content. This means fewer training choices, but a more narratively satisfying ending, hopefully with two or three different outcomes, like Wife Trainer.

a) That's a really good idea that slipped my mind, I'll definitely include that.
b) I can't really think of any, that's part of why I started this. There are the other real-porn QSP games, but they're more sandbox than narrative. Scripted text sequences + continuity of models = better immersion (for me, everyone's different) so I wanted to try that with more emphasis on specifically BDSM content than wife trainer.

Also, v0.3 is up! Anyone who was waiting on a version with some actual gameplay in it, this one has some. I'm still adjusting the numbers for fear/pride/obedience and the required thresholds for performing certain actions, so if anyone has any game balance tips I'd love to hear them. There is no time/sleep system yet, so you can play around with the training options as much as you like. If you're only seeing spanking and "spread eagle" options for punishments, its because you now have to purchase the relevant bdsm gear from The Weightless Collar.

I haven't played it as its still early in development but it looks really interesting.
If you have any QSP problems I can help, I'm no programmer but I've been fiddling with Girl Life for 6 or 7 years now so some stuff has rubbed off on me. I'm a bit slow checking here but you can PM me or hit me up on the GL discord if you are in a hurry.

My advice is make the male protag version and once you have that working enough to have complete training working and career goals set then see whether you want to add female and/or futa protag. Otherwise you'll just pick up more and more sidetracking stuff and then you can lose focus on your finish post. That's when feature creep wins, this is bad.

Yep, that was the biggest problem with EVIL. The author wanted to allow you to play as anything - male, female, trans, gay, lesbian, feminized male, and all combinations and it resulted in a very shallow game. That was the game's main feature (diverse character customization) and it lacked depth because of it. The author had to code in tons of branches to cover all the character types and the code was a nightmare! spectre1viper came in and gave the game focus (male protag only) and cleaned up most of the code. Then players complained continually that they couldn't turn themselves into a sissy male or play as a lesbian female. They then tried the original game Evil or went back to it and said "nevermind" (LOL).

Focusing the game on specific goals allows you to offer more features and direction to the game which is important.

The auto-patch is a really good idea, I'm sure as the file gets larger it'll be an even greater pain to download the whole thing again every time. For 0.4 I'll add an update version that only includes new img/video files and the new .qsp file, but I really don't have the technical knowledge to do anything more sophisticated. Bundle some sort of script that checks the game files, then downloads missing media from a server?

There was some lewd game I remember where the official way to get it was to get it via SVN, which is well-suited for the purpose but needs server-side support.

Please don't mute the audio in the video clips. If players don't want to listen to the sound, they can turn down the volume on their QSP player. I totally disagree with whoever suggested to mute the video clips. One of the reasons I like QSP and games like this is because they can playback video easily.

However, I don't like that devs usually remove the sound from clips. Yes, I get it reduces file size, but sound is a important part of the media, and compression is a much better way to deal with file size, in my opinion. As for whether the sounds "fit" with your game's narrative, I also think that is a faulty excuse to remove the audio, because the clips are usually short and contain no dialogue besides moans and groans. Yeah, it can get repetitive, but it's highly unlikely that the sounds would give away a scene and ruin the story if the images in the video otherwise match.

Thanks to jessicajones and the EVIL 2 team for keeping the audio in most of the clips. That's another great QSP game right there. (Lemme know about other English voiced games or real porn games with audio )

Just tried v0.3. Definitely an improvement. But can you resize the images and videos. It's kind of disrupting to have each image have different sizes, though if I have to say is that most of the images are way too big for the qsp player. Maybe you want to use hq images and afraid that if you resize them you will downgrade the quality but in my opinion having different sizes throughout the game also interrupt the immersion. It will be nice if the images and videos can fit the qsp so that player can see the text and the whole images in the same screen without needing to scrolling. Same with the fonts, you can make it a bit smaller.
As for typos, when the landlord deliver the notice you double type the "Landlord :".

B) the closest things I could think of would be real porn games The Company, and certain narrative arcs of College Daze. Both lean less into "trainer" and more into stages of chemically or magically induced mind-control respectively, but they are the only games that come to mind with similar content that are also narrative-driven games rather than sandbox style.

spectre1viper limited the image height to 500 for all images in EVIL 2. I followed that same pattern with my four releases to the game. That allows a good sized image without forcing players to scroll. We don't want players to have to scroll if we can help it.

He also set all videos to 1024x576 with a max bitrate of 2200 (MP4s). That way all pictures and videos had a standard size and would always fit in the same window without issue.

I found that unless the video is 2K or better quality, having a bitrate over 2200 doesn't improve visual quality to the average eye. Most videos I recompiled to a bitrate of 2000 or less. That could save you a lot of file space going forward (it depends on what software you are recompiling the videos with and what options are available).

To second Jesicajones above, on Girl Life we put a limit on image heights at 600px. There are programs that will let you batch resize but for free programs that do that they seem to all be online, so depending on upload and download speeds can be really useful or worse than doing it one by one.
