To avoid constantly turning it on and off, simply add the game's .exe file and the folder (just in case) to the Windows Defender exceptions.

Since I've never had any problems with the game, I wouldn't know what else to do. Your best option is to check out the Dev's Discord server; people always come there with questions or problems, and so far I haven't seen anyone go without help.
