But you kinda already screwed up. Didn't you guys aim for an August release, which is according to your own posts on patreon very unlikely now, even with a 1 week planned buffer. Wasn't that the whole point of dropping the deadlines, so this won't happen again. So why give another target when you can't make it. The entire art and story stuff is actually really subjective. But missing target after target is objectively bad.
I'm sorry if I'm wrong here but what I think your misunderstanding a promise, and an estimate. We have never promised an update will drop for Project Evolution in August, we estimated it would based on progress that had happened. In January we stated our shift from firm deadlines to quality updates. That will release when they are ready. I believe the product is what we promise, not the date. Us providing an estimate is a courtesy, and if weaponized we can just not, as our direction from Jan will still stand.

It's not meant as an attack but in my field a target that is set is not to be missed when given. Maybe it's just a different understanding of the word. But why give an estimate/ Target when your history shows that you can't make it. I am with you that its important that the product is finished, Gotham is a great example of that. But It's still a bad look to miss your estimate 2 times for 2 updates this year.

But besides that I wish you great success with what ever the name will be (Project evolution).

Your guys Problem was never the content (Sunsets is when he is interested in an update /project and with enough time, more than just great) it was everything around that, that made many people stop supporting you. Maybe I am wrong about that but that was my reason at least.

In certain fields I can totally get behind the needs to have hard deadlines. For instance if X machine can only make 10 thingys a day then you can easily schedule out a delivery for Y day. But when your producing, and iterating something, there are more unknowns than knowns. Like how many iterations are needed for even a rough draft. Or, we have never built a mission system, that is tied to Xp gains. We haven't ever incorporated powers into a story, and design the story so that your power choice has impact at every instance. We have never made a small game that has an actual game loop other than clicking next day.

As for asset needs (which is a big part of the needs tbh), we can guess what scenes are needed (BJ, Sex, etc) but we cannot estimate the alternate BG needs, as those arise from needs to change view points, or a need to add an additional scene for impact. Taking he wouldn't be cool if someone could get caught in invisibility by Jean if she is around. That sentence took me 30 secs to type, and it could take us a day or a month to incorporate.

Essentially in development of something planning is priceless, but a plan is worthless.

Oh no, they’re making TWO games. Clearly doomed.

Again this is free stuff for you all, so go read the first paragraph and spam this thread with AI detection, horrible takes, and questions easily answered in the post. /s

The irony of calling it "free stuff" while linking to your Patreon 3756 people are paying for, and likely joined explicitly for SU.
SU might not be abandoned today, it might not be abandoned tomorrow, but it will be. Project Evolution is going to become the favorite child and receive the majority of updates while SU will be drip fed small updates from time to time until GG decide to move on to something else. Rinse and repeat. For example: Bend of Break 2 is still said to be "expected to launch in 2024" on GG's About section on patreon.
I say this not from a place of anger, but rather disappoint.

I know not a lot of people are going to see this post before its deleted (like every post criticizing this decision, such as a previous reply of mine), but if you'd like some advise from a published author: it's best to finish a project before moving on to a new one. You can ask George RR Martin that one too.

so Mr dots has been going at it for nearly as long, and his team is on its 4 project? 3 completed.
NLT media has completed also 3 top tier quality games complete with excellent animations, RPG stats and working on a 4th.

Know what they have in common? core focus. Planning.

this team lacks those things. no one sets the team down and goes over what needs to be done tracks whats done and when someone tries to introduce another thing slap it out of their hands and puts them back on track. The development is all over the place, like someone with ADHD at the wheel. with all these other projects the split of the main game into smaller games and no integration back into the main game, all i can see from the outside is just a sheer lack of discipline and most likely burnout from going a bridge too far with SU.

Gunsmoke Games "Heres how we can do 2 games at once"
Patrons "Cool so whens the SU update you said would come out this month?
Gunsmoke Games "Oh we have to finish this build of our new game first so it's TBA"

Honestly I was patent and gave them a lot of good faith but at this point, they're just a cluster fuck with no idea how to stick to any sort of solid schedule or plan for more than maybe a year. Every few years they get distracted with some side project that GS swears WONT EFFECT SU'S UPDATES, with a posts that prove the fact that THEY ALREADY HAVE. And for what ANOTHER X-men Evo game. There are already 2 done by competent artists that are much farther along and deliver anything this project would (rouge_evo) and (Project_Null). They've really gone down hill in years, they used to have some hick ups yeah, but you could at least expect an update once every 2 months with some decent content, now here we are 4 months of empty promises and another distraction that will maybe get a few updates and then be abandoned, just expected to "be grateful that they do anything at all". Best part most of their updates are hidden behind their paywall, so you want to say anything you gotta pay um. Like seriously at this point it's paying 5 bucks a month to read posts saying "Here's why you're not getting the game you clearly payed to support and why that's a good thing" every few weeks....sigh It was fun while it lasted, and at least most of the girls that anyone actually cared about got more or less completed in the main game, even catwomen got some stuff in the Gotham thing. Pity such a good project was destroyed by piss poor planing and communication, they survived a DMCA only to kill all hype for the project themselves.

Man is wrote a paragraph to complain about nothing :KEK:

Its really funny to see people complain about the new game when even if it wasn't in development you already know the dev teams dumbass still wouldn't have the SU update ready

I don't think the post will be removed it's a justified fear with all things considered, updates on SU becoming less frequent, chainging engines and things left unfinished. I have to give my own opinnion on how it could have been handled better with just a few lines.

1. SU changed engines to rempy expect quality drop but significant work on finishing the lose ends such as bordello and last device unlock.
2. New game announced it will apear on SU main title as advertisement, SU will still receive micro updates but will also advertise the new game on the main title to provide a good migration.

That's what I would done to keep these games active and maybe a definitive version later on SU removing previous mentions on the new game.

Instead it's two cakes like this:

1 Cake is missing the frosting and top layer but there lots of side cupcakes.
Number 2 cake is just the plate for now and the bottom layer is in the oven.

Note this is just my vague opinion and I really want the project to succed but because of the order of the announcements I feel uninterested in the prospects if the following year we will see more of the same.

Its what the new game represents, another distraction/excuse they can use to explain why their update is late. I've been watching this cycle for years now, and honestly it's just tiresome. Is Sunset still a good artist, yes, am I sure what content we'll get of it is solid, probably, but given their constant lack of focus and inability to commit to any solid plans, it just feels like another slap in the face after a long list of detours, broken deadlines, and promises of things that never came to be for one reason or another, and the common denominator is this, they can't commit to any cohesive idea, be it an update theme, an event, or a new game. I'd love them to prove me wrong, but the president they've set over the last few years really leaves me doubting.

Idk man, it just feels from recent communication that they are kinda burnt out of SU, guess that's why they chose to do a new game to feel fresh again, I guess even the events (Gotham, Them) didn't work as a way to get rid of that feeling of burn out, I do hope the new game helps them and it helps SU but idk just my opinion on reading some of the comments smoke has put here, some of the patreon communication and discord comments, only they would know if they are burnt out or not, but it does seem that way.
