Yeah same shi but in different wrapper, can't keep making new content instead you're doing kind of remake, way to go man
I don't understand why this is so complicated for so many people.
The unity version is made with a tool called Fungus. That tool is barely functional at this point, it's a major cause for some updates being so light... they just couldn't get content to work in it despite it all being done. And before you ask, no, it's not because they're bad at coding, there isn't coding in Fungus, its a visual tool that lets you connect stuff together. Fungus itself has been updated many times since the creation of this game, but you can't transfer the old project to the new one. So, instead of wasting time fucking with that barely functional program (it's the scale of the game that is causing most of the issues, and it's worst in the cells, that's why cell content basically ceased) they're finally depricating it and working on wiping out a decade of tech debt.
This isn't some excuse, I've badgered them for years to ditch it and either rebuild it in a newer version of fungus, or better yet do a ren'py version, since it's very easy to code and you don't have this weird dependency shit that happens in fungus. especially in a game as straight forward as SU... hell, maybe they'll be willing to add a bit more complexity to the events in ren'py because it's much easier to link stuff and have it carry over. The very tiny BoB2 demo we got was a newer version of fungus, but they decided to go ren'py for android and it just makes more sense to use that as the core of ditching unity all together for PC. It'll get to us much faster this way.
SR7 doesn't really do the code portion of the ren'py releases, that's done by Henshin, so it's not like he's wasting his time on that instead of drawing things or writing... he's still doing that, some for the new (very small) game, some for SU, some for whatever else the guy does, I don't know everything they're up to.
