He is currently working on a raiding mechanic, where you have to use the Armory on Deck 3 and several of your bots to counter them in classic Ren'Py combat... so yeah quiet some gameplay mechanic... and let's not forget the weapons and shields for the base that are still in the Upgrade menu.On that note we haven't seen the interior of the base either.
You forgot about the upstairs of the pirate bar or the sex bot arcade on Iltari station, those have been teased since basically 0.1. I've always assumed that the dancing pole downstairs isn't just for eye candy, the poses would also be re-used in the upstairs portion. Be cool if it also resulted in dancing at the regular bar on Ilium station, but that would require entirely new poses since no pole = no reusability.
It's already decided that SJ X 2 won all polls
Arguably this is already SJX2, but yeah, it'll probably be a distinct game. Still think another strategy game with a hex campaign map like Princess/Tower would be cool, but coding multiple opponents to not make stupid decisions nor automatically gang up on human player is actually a huge pain in the ass; most AAA solve this by just letting computer opponents cheat at higher difficulty levels,
cheaper easier than coding it to be "smarter."
If anything, it'll still be RPGish but trade the node-based travel on the campaign map for the hex grid, which would be quite a nice improvement. Node-based UI is nice for like research trees, but just ends up being crazy tedious with too much clicking for UI movement in a game. Clicking through the spaceship got so tedious dev had to add a shortcut mini-map!
But it's also true that the last word is YV's. And if he loses his passion for the project or decides to do something else, I would understand, since I've seen many artists try to do something they didn't feel like doing because people asked them to, and they all ended badly. That's why it would be favorable for YV to ignore the poll and do what he liked to be able to see another work like this.
The upside is that YV is a coder first, artist second. Arguably part of the reason why his games actually get finished... he doesn't lose his mind trying to cram arts into a barely functioning code base!
Edit: Wrote "Ilium" instead of "Iltari" like the 3rd time I've done that in this thread... so fixed it.
