i really love this game, but one thing that bothers me a lot is it feels like the game is shaming me for avoiding certain content. i'm not into any of the current male characters because they're too masculine, but trying to keep the bi path open just in case there's any femboys around. but
1) it's kind of hard to tell if putting a stop to encounters with the masculine characters will close me off to future potential content with other, more feminine male characters
2) whenever you do reject a character, you get the "error buzzer" and then at the end of the scene you get like a failure horn and the AI lady tells you you suck
i just really don't like feeling like i'm being shamed for not wanting encounters with certain characters

I really REALLY don't get this shaming thing... if you don't like some specific paths or characters, you are free to avoid sexual interaction with them, I don't see where shaming enters the picture. The error buzzer is because the system wants you to maximise the number of your sexual encounters, if you get insecure with that, hmmm...
I'm also quite sure that the kinks you are getting now are not fixed in time and space, and you'll have the possibility to add or remove them in the future depending on your choices. The game as it is been shown up to now is anything but inflexible.
A classic example is in the last content, where the MC can engage in a threesome during which you can gauge the amount of interaction you have with the male and with the female partner.

Never got the feeling that the game is shaming me for avoiding content personally, even though I avoided all the bi content and a few of the other kinks. It may be silently judging you though, you know - like a cat watching you in the bathroom.
The AI at the end of the scenes doesn't really say you suck either but I think she says something along the lines of "This could have gone better." Which I suppose it could - just not for me.
As for locking yourself out of the content - I'm pretty certain that Ranli said we'll get a chance to verify our choices at the end of Phase 1.
I also feel it's kind of weird when people say they want more femboys in this particular game... like.. I'm not saying the guys in this game are particularly feminine, but I don't really find many of them to be particularly 'butch' and there's not a lot of variety when it comes to body hair or shapes (daddies, bears, otters, etc). I personally wish some of them were more butch or maybe had some facial hair or body hair or something. I find the guys tend to lean toward a slim/femme appearance more often than not...
That being said, I think the game is good as is. I just don't see that, lol.

I agree with that but to be fair Sarge has set really unrealistic standards of masculinity in this game, no guy is ever going to be more butch than her

As someone who is exclusively attracted to twinks and femboys (when it comes to males) - I mean I find Sam on outer fringe of what I'd be attracted to and he's not exactly Ron Perlman - I bristled instantly, automatically (because selfish, wants more of what I like not more of what I don't like) and then realised that you're absolutely right. There are some exceptions but most are within my range rather than the examples you provided. And here I like to wave my inclusivity flag proudly yet I fall into the same trap as the people I tend to get into flame wars with. Bit of a cold shower honestly. Thanks fengshui - there will be some femboys (you can see a preview of a planned character in the propaganda movie). That said, HanZi is pretty darn feminine! As Dreadder says, you will have a chance to explicitly select your sexuality at the end of this Phase (in 2 updates).
Perles is right: the buzzer doesn’t judge - it is just there to show you the route with the most content, not to shame you. Morgana and Lancelot do judge you, but her character is acerbic and his is banter - neither the game nor I judge or shame you for any choice you make
Thanks, soakblue! Monseigneur Darkfyre, Rydick, Pastor Chang and Prince Lloricain are all pretty butch, and Cole is rather furry - but I do tend to prefer twinks and hunks myself. I also like low body fat in general... although after almost a year of lockdown, that‘s starting to look like hypocrisy

I suppose I understand your feeling and would say, there are two things to be considered
(1) maybe that many of the (male?) characters doesn't appeal you. OK. Everybody has his/her preferences and dislikes etc. Ranli can't do anything with this.
(2) If the player rejecet a sexual opportunity, the game produces a sound, which is not the most pleasent in the world. This can have a rather annoying efect and I understand you feel somewhat bad. Maybe, here Ranli can help, and come with different sound, which is certainly better then turn off the sound of the computer entirely.
Ranli, it would be so difficult to implement other kind of sound? And make it optional? I mean, player would select from the menu, which sound will play during the game? It could sound similar to the "positive" reaction, but instead of rising melodic sequence it would be a falling one...

But the implication of the sound effects you use after a rejection choice and then later at the end of a potential lewd scene that I consciously chose to avoid is that I made a "mistake". On a game show, you get that error buzzer when you answer a question wrong. You get failure horns when you lose a minigame and are eliminated right before they go to commercial break or whatever. The game is telling me I made an incorrect decision, even if that wasn't your intention when putting it together.
Yeah, I have no problem with these characters being there and available as sexual partners. Hell, Sam is great, and more "straight" games should include male characters like him. Fairly attractive, your buddy, not trying to kill you and fuck your entire family. And it's good not to have "gay" and "straight" games completely separate anyway. I'm sure there are plenty of great games that only have m/m pairings, but I'll never know because I'm mostly not interested in m/m. I'm not trying to get this game to change the story or characters or whatever. I just don't like getting buzzed for choosing not to see a sex scene lol

Personally I have no problem whatsoever with the sound, it reminds me one of those comic sad trombone effects, which fits the ironic and sit-comedy spirit of the game.
