From what I've seen, when writers try and insert m/m just to expand the player base, it generally comes across as a bit cynical and bolted-on - and usually they often get criticism from both the targeted m/m players and the f/m players who feel robbed of that precious update time. I think devs are best off only including what they like themselves (although it's then worth listening to patrons and players re the amount of each kink, character or storyline to be included).
