2nd. I am watching this thread, collecting constructive feedback and making changes to the game if possible. Like decreasing game size. Next update the full game will be more than twice smaller. Or getting rid of black screens at the beginning of the renpy project. And more. Some criticism though I find it correct, I also find it useless to fix being close to the half into the game. Like plotholes. I have to be realistic about the time I can spend on the project and my hardware abilities. Fixing this would mean starting all over and no new content for a year or so. You can polish endlessly anything in life. And it would never be ready. There will always be people that will find it not good enough. Or you can decide that it is good enough for you and carry on. That is my decision. I collect the feedback for use in future projects.
First, let me thank you for the effort you're making to improve your early renders and fix the more serious bugs. The expression 'perfect is the enemy of good' is an example of how polishing something endlessly slows overall progress to a crawl and ends up doing more damage than it fixes. As you said, you can never please everybody, so you do the best you can, within the limits of your own abilities, workload and personal satisfaction.
Having said that, I hope you'll listen to some suggestions on minor improvements.
From my POV, the mental humiliation of forcing Laura and others to have sex with people they know is ten times hotter than degrading them with random/ugly strangers. As Laura says herself when Donald and Bumdolf assault her in her home, the impact is much worse because she sees that as her safe place. A similar fear applies for people she knows, because she has to face them in the future and see the satisfaction in their eyes after taking her, even if they can't tell others.
'Aunt' Regina's encounter with Douglas in Jean's office was an amazing scene, but it would have been even better if we knew more about them beforehand. IIRC, we only see Regina twice before that, but she wasn't named either time and all we learn is that she's probably Laura's secretary and they're not just co-workers, but friends. Douglas doesn't appear at all, unless I missed him? Naming her in the earlier scenes and adding a line or two about her relationship with Douglas when she speaks to Laura would help a lot.
The main criticisms of this scene are that Douglas somehow doesn't notice that she's crying her eyes out and only responding with 'yes' to Jean's 'explanation' - right after he exposed her as a thief
in front of Douglas and made it clear that she has to obey his demands. Easiest way to eliminate those issues is to have Douglas called in
after Jean's explanation to Laura, which would include the extra detail that Jean explained the blackmail to Regina several days earlier, rather than springing this on her as a complete surprise. That would give her time to get over the shock, spend several days crying her eyes out and have much better emotional control in front of Douglas. Much like Laura's forced acceptance of her own situation.
Sounds easy when I summarise it like that, but re-rendering, changing scenes and recompiling .rpyc files mean that even small changes involve a lot of work. Think about it if you think its worth it, but its your game and you're the one that has to slave over it. If the dialogue
really bothers people, they're welcome to use UnRen to extract the .rpy files for any event and edit them, so they can change the dialogue to anything they want.
The other events of this type (Laura with Peter/Jasper etc, Beatrice with Ritvar and Jean's plan for Laura to teach management to her former colleagues) all show amazing potential for more humiliation of this type, so please keep up the great work!
I don't know what the end of the game holds for Laura, but my best guess is that she either ends up completely broken and a slave to her lust - or she enters into a partnership with BB to destroy her former tormentors. Time will tell.
