Same reason people are mad with Miles anyway, Peter is just a better Spider-Man. While Miles makes an alright supporting character, he's just not Peter.
Like when they tried to replace Peter with Ben Riley, nobody cares about any Spider-Man that isn't Peter. Even if people like Ben Riley, he just isn't Peter. The reason nowadays most like Ben is because he's the Scarlet Spider and not Spider-Man. Because Peter is Spider-Man.

I am 101% sure that 99.9% people who hate Miles in this thread have never even seen a Spider-Man comic book.

So I've played it enough to ahve some thoughts on the matter:
* I think it's well written despite the fact that the dev's native language isn't English.
* I'm not really digging the art though. It's all just a little too static for me. I understand why the dev chose this route, but it didn't really work for me.
* If I have one major complaint about the game, it's that it's too easy. It's nice to score with everyone, but there are seemingly zero obstacles in your way other than needing to build relationship points. It would have been more fun if I had to work a little harder to get anything started with the women in the game. For instance, if I had to do a quest every time I visoted Jennifer in her law offices, or if more tension had built up between the MC and Sue, etc.
* Something else minor that bugged me; I wanted Natasha to tell the MC to call her Natasha. Calling her 'Widow' all the time just seemed clumsy.

I own about 30 or so Spiderman comics. So best keep assumptions to yourself. Besides everyone is allowed to have favorites. I'm sure there's a few Miles fans, like this dev but if I had to guess there's more who like Parker. Just like there's female Thor fans, but judging from her reception most fans still like the og.

Something to think about, especially since so many people seem to be nonplussed by your use of Miles rather than Peter (although I think it's entirely likely it's an extremely vocal minority) is making the MC a generic/non-canonical character. I think people might complain less. I'm personally fine with Miles, although I'd also be fine with "Insert character name here".

Miles is great ok? And he exists in a universe where Peter Parker HAS DIED. Miles Morales isnt stealing the title of Spider Man from Peter Parker. He is donning the title AS PETER WANTED HIM TOO because Peter Parker is dead.
So yeah we couldve gotten yet ANOTHER Peter Parker spiderman but Miles has gotten really popular in the recent years especially with the new animated movie Sony is making (Super exicted for it) so why not use him?

Plus this move will legitimately be one of Miles' for forays into a media other than comics. So animated or not its something to look forward too. (yes he was in Ultimate Spiderman but it was only in it for like 2 episodes man)

Don't forget about Justice League (and pretty much the entire DCAU). I wonder if the Dev made a Batman game and used Terry McGinnis if people would have this much hate.
