Check the main menu for the Content List. Up there is all the stuff you can do in the current release.
The version here is the early, un-fixed one without the content list, I'm afraid.
Derelict 1 is started by talking with Ginny and asking her about your debt and then "special jobs." And you can see the Markala's/Pirate stuff by just doing Side Jobs in the Spaceport.
