As they say in my homeland - "I am not 100 bucks to please everyone." Obviously, those people who support me on Patreon like my idea and like what has been done so far. I do not force anyone to come and support me, I make a game for those who want such a game.Lol, i don't get it.
This guy is making almost 300 bucks on his patreon, for nothing?... I mean, any "developer" with some tricky knowledge, can do this "tech demo" with the open crawl and all this.
doing it is at just a google search away (There are plenty of tutorials).
Don't get me wrong, im not hating.
But GodDamn, people here is talking about scams, and this guy is making good money for literally nothing.
I guess people likes scams. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
But this is not surprise. There are some developers who, month after month, get profits from patreon (some of them earning more than 2 thousand, yikes). And it takes up to 3 months to update their games. With only 1 or two events. so... meh.
I do not know, the scenario is disappointing me a little. lol
Long story short, some guy named "DarthSmut" made a SW porn parody game, which looks promising, until its revealed to be a total scam. Dude is infamous for making fake accounts, manipulating likes, deceiving comments and reviews and acts like an asshole. Dude was so toxic, mods banned him from oblivion.what is up with the scam thing? I don't know any dart smut.
And after that, everyone obviously became so bored that they decided to throw tons of shit on anyone who even mentioned that he was making a game of SWLong story short, some guy named "DarthSmut" made a SW porn parody game, which looks promising, until its revealed to be a total scam. you do exactly what Uncle Smut did. talk big, paywalling everything and them scam&milk patreon. you alredy talk big and paywalling features. All previous rewards and:
- Access to mods, personal addons and special versions of the game
Yes, I perfectly understand the feelings of these people. But I’ve kind of said more than once that I’m not him, moreover, anyone can download my demo and see that there’s nothing to do with Smut’s work.
Here it seems to me in some places that the matter is not so much in the feelings of the deceived as in their personal obstinacy. They hammered something into their heads that even now they do not hear and see nothing but this.
Once again - I came here to demonstrate my game, and not to prove something to someone there!..
Well, you're choosing to ignore what Sam said at the beginning of the thread. Someone saying that they're making a Star Wars game isn't an instant sign of it being Darth Smut. However, accounts that have been linked to DS in the past suddenly promoting your game out of nowhere, before it's even been widely publicised? That...well, it doesn't make people feel confident, put it that way.And after that, everyone obviously became so bored that they decided to throw tons of shit on anyone who even mentioned that he was making a game of SW
I have no idea what accounts are in question.Well, you're choosing to ignore what Sam said at the beginning of the thread. However, let's work on the benefit of the doubt. So far you've said that you just want to show off what you've done, and in fact, don't mind if this thread gets deleted. Don't ask for mods to start deleting posts though. They can, and will, choose when to step in to police this thread by themselves. Attempting to call them down to do so...well, first it won't work, and second, it'll just not look good.
Just go back to working on your game, and don't reply to people who are posting here, unless they're directly asking questions about the game. If in a few updates time - which hopefully won't be too far away - you can provide something beyond a character creator, then the thread will move on, and you'll be distanced further from any allegations. In short, the best way to prove that you're not DS isn't to continually say that you're not, but to put out a decent enough game that people can see you're not him.
Here is my take, I'm completely unfamiliar with the whole scandal that revolved around DS and people targeting you, but in order to gain their trust screw the whinning both from you and around you, because circlejerking won't stop anytime soon, followed by a compeling mini updates or short teasers that would prove your project is indeed a "game" and not some kind of youtube's browser game ad buzz and definitely scrap SW title, before Disney attempts to pull you to court. These are tiny suggestions, although I would like to be supportive, my take still remains to be neutural until foreseeable version.I have no idea what accounts are in question.
As for further development, in order to show people an interesting game - I am going to do this. But you understand, I cannot take it and make it at the click of my fingers (I, as it were, not Tanos). It will be necessary to spend some time, for which, I am afraid, the "doubters" will repel everyone who would be interested in the game from this topic. I just lose a significant part of the audience, simply because... Because.
Well, then I'd advise you to look at Sam's post on the matter, on the very first page. Here's a link, if you prefer.I have no idea what accounts are in question.
No one is expecting you to be able to push out a new update right now. That'd be silly. I am suggesting that you, for the time being at least, ignore this thread and just go back to working on that next update. Considering this is just a character creation, there isn't much for an audience to look at, so don't worry about gathering an audience right now. Worry about that when you have something more substantial to show.As for further development, in order to show people an interesting game - I am going to do this. You also shouldn't ask for money on patreon without any content whatsoever you know. Gotta present something playable first.I cannot take it and make it at the click of my fingers
What does the ILM have to do with it?This game from ILM right ?
The problem is not that I want money in the absence of a real game. The problem is that they consider me to be a fraud simply because my game is similar (damn, but it even does not look like!) to the game of another person.Well, then I'd advise you to look at Sam's post on the matter, on the very first page. Trust me, if you come back in a month's time, having taken all the criticism to heart, worked hard on the game, and post something significant, with actual gameplay? The allegations will fade away. Your Patreon has been up since early May, and you only released the tech demo - though it's more akin to a character creation demo tbh - two days ago. You're already making $255 a month. I don't think you need to worry too much about expanding your audience right now. Work on expanding your game first.
If at the end of reading all this, you still want to say that it's not fair? Well, sadly all I can say is; tough. Life isn't fair. Besides, this is a piracy site. Blame Darth Smut for his actions in the past. Don't listen to him if he ever tries to tell you that he was doing great things here, and don't join his discord.
As I said, there's nothing you can do about it other than put out better versions of your game. It isn't that you're both making Star Wars games, it's the other stuff that made people suspect. Any suspicion that you're DS will get forgotten if you come back in a month with a much better example of what you want to show. That is literally the only thing you can do to make people come around on this. Continually saying that you're not him won't do anything. I'm not shouting "I made a masterpiece, give me money!", I understand that my demo is nothing yet. But I have nothing against such an opinion. I just don't want to ME doused with mud simply because someone else doesn’t like SOMEONE.
