Agree that a harem option would make things a lot easier - I turned down Valerie because Diane expressed interest in a relationship first - but that's Dev's decision
You can romance everyone, it doesn't matter.

There were plans to have exclusive relationships like Julianna that would force you to breakup with everyone else once it becomes serious enough at a later point in the game, but we decided against that as it's not what our players want.

I can only say thank you very much.
Are you considering adding a harem tag? Even if you don't plan on letting the Lis interact with each other, which I would understand because of the extra effort, the tag would still be useful to let potential players know that more than one relationship is possible

Sorry to bother everyone but I was wondering, how do you enter a relationship with either Jaime, Julianna or Maki? Spending time with characters doesn't seem to increase the relationship meter and the only characters I have gotten with is Zaru, Curie and Diane, two of which aren't interested in entering a committed relationship and Curie I'm not interested in. I'd appreciate it if anyone is willing to answer.

For Jaime it's done by asking her out first at the cafeteria. It does require you to side with Thomas though.
Julianna is a bit more specific as it stands, you need to allow her to sit with you during orientation and attend the blind date & commit.
Maki requires to read the folded note in your inventory before your second visit to the cafe.

If this is all stuff you don't want to bother with, the next version 0.4.0 will integrate a story skip that gives you an optimal playthrough with all of this stuff already done.

Okay, thank you for answering. For Julianna I don't know how to get her to appear for orientation. Everytime I do the blind date I get Diane.

So am i wrong or is there no way to raise your stats yet? No matter what i do, it won't effect permanent stats at all.

been a couple months anyone got a update on this?
tl;dr: The writer has writer's block so the rest of the dev team is working on Silent Echo atm.

From 11th September:
Version 0.4.0 has been our focus for some time and while we're overall happy with the way it plays, we have found that the way the update is currently structured causes quite an abrupt and frustrating end on Act 2's main campaign as you're left on a significant cliffhanger.

This isn't something we like very much and as such we've decided to delay the release of this update to integrate the campaign part of version 0.4.1 into version 0.4.0 instead, causing the whole initial arc to be fully playable in one go.

We also plan to make use of that time to polish expeditions, which we felt are lacking and become repetitive way too quickly.

In short, this patch needs more time in the oven to be good quality. While the writer is going to be busy working on this addition to the update, the team is moving to the development of Silent Echo 0.2.0.
6th November:
Where is Starwatch?

First of all, it's not dead! We don't plan to abandon the game.

For full disclosure, one of the reasons there has been no update about the game for a while is that the Starwatch writer has experienced an accute case of writer's block.

As he is not involved in Silent Echo, that is the reason the rest of the team pivoted to the development of Silent Echo 0.2.0 until this could get sorted out.

There is however a positive aspect to all of this. Many great improvements have been made to the combat system thanks to Silent Echo, such as the more diverse damage types, and we will port all of these changes to Starwatch for an even better experience.

This has also given us time to think about where we want to take the game gameplay-wise. As much as some concepts such as talent trees may sound fun on paper, it turns out that fiddling with them in a browser-based game is not exactly fun.

A famous person once said "I go play games to have fun.", and this couldn't be more true. Sometimes, simpler is better.

Is going through multiple pages of talent trees for 5 minutes fun? Probably not.
Is having an alien harem fun? Hell yea.

As we prepare to return to development on Starwatch 0.4.0, I think some of the changes that were already made are spot-on on making the game more "fun", but others could benefit from another look at them.

We'll let you know once development resumes on the game!

If you look at Patreon, it looks like the devs have put Starwatch Academy on hold for now and dedicated themselves to a new project. What a pity.

It wasn't planned to leave the game without updates for so long. Unfortunately, in small teams like ours, human issues can quickly cause significant issues. I'm still hopeful we can work around it soon.
any update on the next release?
