That is quite simple why most corruption games tend to be kinetic novel - if you allow the player to skip most of the corruption routes/paths the plot will become shallow and make no sense and no Indie dev have enough resources to make „happy” ending.
Varying types of corruption levels could make great multiple endings. ;) Or endings based on individual or additives scenes. For example, Ivy and Streaming fit very well together if that's your thing. Madison has what look to be clearly defined paths if you refuse, or go along with, the Dean so I hope that continues.

Perhaps instead of throwing everything at the wall for a player, perhaps enable (or in-game express interest) or not specific types/categories of scenes? For example, blackmail, exhibitionism, bondage, etc., and then skip over the content a player may not like. Just trying out 'Golden Mean' right now and it has a section to do just that.

In this game's context I think it'd be more along the lines of allowing customization in the types of corruption/kinks each player prefers. Not everyone is the same, so providing options like this game potentially seems to do, can appeal to a broader base. If someone isn't into contrived blackmail scenarios? Skip it easily. If you aren't into the streaming? Skip it. Does Ivy or Madison not catch your fancy? Skip it. Do you like it all? Have at it! Knowing I may only be into a subset of the offered paths, I fully expect to miss content. Being subjected to endure things that I have zero interest in means I walk away entirely. For me, that's been MOST games in this category.

There are few others that I would call at least somewhat similar to SoD, like Project Myriam or Anna Exciting Affection but they all very much force the MC to become corrupted in some way. And it would honestly make little sense for a player to not want to corrupt the MC in a game called "Steps to Debauchery".

Like...if you don't want to play football/soccer, don't start Fifa/EA FC.
That's exactly it though! And If I want to play football/soccer but not online I skip the online content. Or if I don't just want to play single matches, I fire up career mode. Maybe I don't want to be a career manager, I create my own player career. Do I mis content? Absolutely, but I can play it the way I like it.

And I'm not saying no corruption at all. I'm just saying that not everyone has the same interests in types of corruption. I personally can't stand forced blackmail, but I love the Streamer, Cleaning, Bondage (Ivy), dancing at the bar thus far. Incredibly well done, all of them. And Mike being open to cuckoldry removes the cheating element of it.

If someone likes the Dean's content, all power to them! It's there, enjoy it. I'll skip it for as long as I can.

I'm the same way, I play every route but the dean. I've enjoyed the game very much so far. Everyone will get different experiences out of this. Mine just doesn't include that asshole. ;)

Lately I've been suffering from cuckold syndrome. I understand that corruption is part of the official storyline. The story becomes exciting because of the corruption. However, I also feel very sad for Mike.

Damn, I think I'm the first player who's worried about Mike.

It's really all that keeps the game from having an option than 'cheating' path if you are honest on both the yacht and cosplay scene. Haven't tried the dishonesty/lying/cheating routes as it's not really an interest of mine.

As he so readily agrees to the dancing (bar and yacht), streaming (after seeing you in costume), and exhibitionism (strip poker on yacht), it's hard to feel too bad for him. With all honesty cards on the table, that is. ;)

I like that the corruption doesn't have to be straight downhill, forced, and contrived. I do have some options in what I can opt into, and Mike knowingly aware of, and approving of, all them is just perfect with me.

It is not that simple. What, if player decide to skip 4 of 5 routes or even all of them? Corruption will make no sense then, as normal girl will become corrupted without any particular reason.

You just can’t allow the player to skip everything they don’t like, so I kinda agree with other opinion - you don’t play FIFA, if you don’t like football.

)This game will have a good ending at all. I ordered the University Director Meddison to return the boxed-in but also the two rats. As well as the little snot. I have another save, but I'm curious. But now it's okay to turn this into a stupid bitch.

I am not happy with yours because the Patriot always gets an exclusive for the first 3 days and for the Steam that I bought yours does not give any exclusives non-Patriot writes a review and does not promote the game is there that it was popular and as always comes out for steam with whiners who don't even want to buy the game your author does not respect people who have a version for steam

Patreons have to pay every month, though. That is, even on a lower tier, a lot more money for essentially the same product. So you should understand that them getting it a few days earlier is to be expected.

But why is some content skippable then if it wasn't meant to be skipped? If someone wants to pay for the game on Steam, does it really matter if they want to skip some of the content? I'd say make the best game you can with the resources you have and let everyone enjoy it in their own way.

When I buy a Bethesda RPG, say Skyrim, am I a bad person if I play it once for 300 hours and only have one character that's only a stealthy archer? I am after all missing out on all the melee and magic combat...

Now you've just got a kinetic novel, playing out the way the author wants. This is not tagged as a kinetic novel. Should re-tag the game and have the open world elements and choices removed. In fact all choices, as why would you refuse anything? Why does Corruption only play out the way you or anyone else thinks it should? If I want her to go at 50% corruption, why does that ruin other people's fun?

Taking your own soccer comparison. Why can't I play just quick matches? Why not career mode? Why not just one game, set it aside and never play it again? Taking it even further, that's like walking into a ice cream shop and one person standing in there telling you that you can only have 2 scoops on a waffle cone. The top scoop must be vanilla flavor and the bottom scoop must be habanero cheddar flavor, as that's the only right way.

Even on regular sandbox and open world games, I never understand why people get so annoyed/upset/worked up when someone else plays in that world differently then they do. You do you, and let me do me and let's just play the game and have fun how we each want.

You missed the point.

We give choices, the choices matter (or will matter in future updates), you can skip some forced things.

...but we can't allow you to fully skip Elijah part, just because you don't like it. We can't allow to fully skip routes with Richard, just because he is old fag. Why? For the reasons I posted above. This is CORRUPTION game, so you can't just skip it and act like it is fine. You can't skip character development in skyrim and be able to complete the game, because you will be too weak.

And comparing some home-studio indie dev with Bethesda is just funny. Give me 1% of their resources and I will allow you to take every path you want, even fully skip the corruption and get happy ending with Mike. We (and any other dev) don't have enough resources to create scenes for every possible outcome. We are not stupid, we know it could be nice to give player such choices, but we can't allow ourselves to make them.

Go read a romance novel if you want a wholesome game about vanilla sex with a woman and her husband. TF you playing porn games for? Why are you even here demanding the dev waste time and resources making stupid paths that have been proven time again only to be voted on in polls by 2% of their patreons? That's what happened in perfect marriage polls anyway, 2% are waiting for faithful scenes. Paths are stupid. Waste of dev time. Waste of player time. 99% of time I figure out what paths are available, choose the best one or the one that can hit the most scenes, and ignore the rest. Why do I want to clutter up my save folder with 10 different stopping points and then have to muddle through shit to find it? Paths are an illusion choice, but in reality they are 10 stories. Faithful path is never going to be played. It's not an interesting story. It's already implied the MC could be faithful but she wants to be a whore instead. We don't need a path only 2% of 1000 people will play, for the contrast.

I don't want to start a fight here but in more than 90% of the sandbox games available here, you can skip all the content you don't want to see. I mean...its easy...you don t like a Story branch...skip it. No harm done. Rileys Story wouldn t change just because of this. Maybe as a Dev you need 2-3 more Renders (if you skip everything) and the Game Ends ends at a certain Point for some players. Lets say they (the Players) want Riley to stay faithful and a "good" girl...(because its called "Steps" of Debauchery and as a player we should steer the Steps for Riley)...then let them have a few extra renders with a happy ending like, someday Riley wakes up and realise that she is done with her manipulative enviroment and stops it. Then BAM...the Game Ends for those Players. 2 - 3 Renders with Riley, her hubby and 1-2 Babies, a house and a white picket fence. Everyone is happy and those, who wants to dive deeper in depravity, should do so. I am not a Developer, but i think this shouldn t be to hard to do. Even in the Game "Anna" (a CORRUPTION Game) you can choose a faithful way and the Slut (corrupted) Way...and "SoD" is at least 10 Times Better with a much more likeable Character. :) Btw..its your fault Fooxied....if you had created Riley old and fat, with saggy Tits and a flat ass..then we wouldn't be having this discussion ;)

In those sandbox games where MC avoids corruption, you trigger a game ending, and the MCs life goes on as normal and she lives happily with her husband - it's like 5 renders, and the game is over. The dev could do this? I guess? It's less of a waste of time.

Varying types of corruption levels could make great multiple endings. ;) Or endings based on individual or additives scenes. For example, Ivy and Streaming fit very well together if that's your thing. Madison has what look to be clearly defined paths if you refuse, or go along with, the Dean so I hope that continues.

The issue with this is that 99% of people will be trying to get max corruption level, and won't even know what level of corruption gets what ending - so they will demand a walkthrough mod that points this out in game, or they will want a cheat mod to cheat max corruption. Again majority of players want to see the max corruption route because it has the most sexy scenes. Nobody really wants to see a 70% corruption ending. Maybe if they are bored and already got off from the 100% one.

The only time multiple paths really makes sense is either the MC ends in different slutty jobs/or fetishes. But even then, most people would rather have an ending that includes scenes that hits all fetishes/kinks. Maybe with options to skip the most intense of those fetishes (like skip pee scenes or whatever). So this is somewhat like MILA AI game, or third crises game.

For me, skipping the Dean blackmail is not missing most of the game. I went back and played it to the end of content and it had a couple of scenes I missed. So yeah, I missed a couple of things but stuff I'm ok missing.

Don't need 'happily ever after' scenarios in all cases. And you don't need to go to the far extreme with examples. I liked that I could skip the one element I did not like with the Dean. And the rest offered freedom in doing it as well... or at least it seemed like it had.

You missed the point.

We give choices, the choices matter (or will matter in future updates), you can skip some forced things.

Perhaps the game is better as a kinetic novel then an 'open world' game, as it'll allow you to require everyone to do the corruption events you expect the player to go through. It's your game, and all power to you, but I'll be moving on from it now.

There are very little checks in terms of skills, so there really is no character or corruption development. It's doing corruption the way you like it. It's your game, so all power to do it how you like. But it's not in-game mechanics. If I ignore dancing at the bar and don't level it up, does it ruin the yacht event? Not at all, I checked it out of curiosity. So the mechanics and "levels" or corruption you use are hand waving theory and not actual game requirements.

You may also want to balance the economy and open world mechanics, as it's far too easy to make thousands of dollars over a couple of weeks. Easy to pull in $130+ with level 2 dancing per night in the bar (can do it 5 nights per week). It only took me 4 nights (I believe) to max level 2 dancing. Cleaning is $70/day and you can do it just about every afternoon. By the time I reached the end of content alert, I owned all shop items/collectibles, all the clothes I could buy, was an 'A' student, paid the $200 every week, and still had scads of leftover money. Give my character a month or two and I'd have had the $100k needed.

I was excited to see that this one didn't have 'forced' and contrived situations and allowed the player to actually control what types of corruption they were exposed to. I personally hate forced blackmail situations, I like the ones that let me do it the way I like. And this game no longer does that.

Good luck with your story.
