I have a question about Steps of Debauchery. I'm looking for a way to get more money in the game, but unfortunately Cheat Engine and the save editor don't work. That makes no difference since it's possible for Riley to make 300-400 dollars more each week, than she pays Wyatt. Even after buying clothes, and the gym pass, and the stuff for the party, there's still plenty of money each week to buy a couple of renders, without ever dropping below 400 dollars. If you decide to miss time out, because you can't be bothered grinding the cash, well yeah you might get into trouble. But in a game of this sort, why would you do such a thing?

For example, in the week I just played, Riley earned nearly 600 dollars (even accounting for the 200 dollars that failed to materialise from Elijah's stream) but her outgoings were only 250 dollars, leaving over 300 dollars for her to potentially spend on renders. If you buy renders regularly throughout the game, it should be very easy to get them all, without ever being short of money.

The whole point of Riley doing Elijah's stream is to earn extra money. So why claim she's earned 200 dollars and then not have it materialise? All the other streams result in her earning extra money. So it seems like a big oversight, hence my query about it possibly being bugged content?

Yes, I think you may be right on some points, but that's how it is in real life. When you have everything, you still have some money left in your pocket.

You people are so deep into the conspiracy theories and theocrafting which is pointless - you will know more about why very soon with update 5.0 and others that come after. (when the mafia boss plot progresses and she meets and actual "bad" guy of the game which will also progress other parts of the game that will provide means to make more money like my P.S.)

While I agree that the math and the whole debt thing feels wonky - it is just the means for the story and not the main point of this game.

P.S. Riley can just go full into the Escort business and pay that debt off in matter of weeks to a month - just giving you a different angle why your discussion is pointless.

Maybe. Maybe it won't be like this. I don't think even fooxied knows what will happen in the 5.0 update. Everything is open to surprise. We will wait and see.

It's pretty clear the Dev is likely to add more scenes involving Mike anyway. He doesn't need people to suggest it. Whatever route Riley is on, she continues to love Mike, and still wants to have sex with him. So why wouldn't the Dev continue to make more content involving the two of them?

I suppose it depends what route you're on? If you're on the sharing/netorase route, Riley is more likely to be having sexual content involving Mike. Whereas, if you're on the cheating/netorare route, she's more likely to have sexual content that excludes Mike. So I suspect increasingly, it will largely depend on your former choices whether you get sex content with Mike or not.

So is Mike really going to pay it off with his Bar, bearing in mind they're currently not making any profit? I mean having a few dozen swingers in the bar, once or twice a week, might make them more profitable, but it's hardly going to turn the Bar into a money making machine. Which it would have to be, to pay off that kind of debt in a relatively short period of time. As Mike correctly states, the margins in the Bar industry are very narrow. Which means you need your Bar full-up with customers every night, to stand any chance of turning a healthy profit.

Realistically, it would take years for Mike to pay off that kind of debt, purely from the proceeds of his Bar. It wouldn't be that hard for Riley to pay off more to Wyatt weekly, because eventually she starts earning a lot more money. Top female streamers, earn thousands of dollars a week. Are we saying that Riley can't be one of those women?

This is why I'm not a huge fan of this story. The Dev of course has creative control on their work, but why include any choice or illusion of choice if it doesn't matter? It seems to me that it's all about how many absurd situations he can put Riley in until the final moment.

I would have loved for Riley to have not been caught by the Dean, and got herself off because something was triggered inside her. Then she starts seeking it out, and maybe then finally gets caught. Like Zara mentioned she could be a top female streamer and get deeper into certain things... but when the mafia is shown to be involved, well... really?

At 200 dollars a week, it will take 10 years to pay off the debt. What gangster would allow anyone that amount of time? So unless she starts earning considerably more, like thousands of dollars a week, then there's no way they'll stay alive long enough to pay it off. I mean we're already suspending disbelief, because the whole idea of a 200 dollar a week repayment scheme for a 100k debt to a ruthless gangster, is already beggaring belief. It would never happen in the real world, and Mike would already be dead in a ditch.

The real reason behind the 200 dollar a week repayment scheme, is the Dev wants this to be a slowburn corruption of Riley, and therefore she has to be able to have relatively tame jobs at the start of the game, which naturally don't pay as much. Rather than fast-tracking her into becoming a complete slut, so she can earn considerably more as a cam star, stripper or escort, and thus would be able to pay back, far more than 200 dollars a week. If she was really desperate, and was convinced that Wyatt would murder her and Mike, if she didn't pay back much more each week. She wouldn't even think twice about doing whatever it took to earn that money. She might hate herself, but she'd still do it. But because the Dev has decided this game is going to be a slowburner, instead we have this ludicrous scenario which totally stretches credibility.

Rather than just getting a loan, they could have had Mike laundering money for the Mob, until he could repay them what he owned. That would be more realistic, because then they're getting a significant benefit from the arrangement, rather than just a tiny pittance, which wouldn't even cover the high level of interest that they would naturally expect on such a sum. Because when you add in interest, Riley would likely be paying 200 dollars for the rest of her life, if her repayments remained at that level. Having Mike be involved in some criminality under duress, would also provide Riley with a big incentive to pay back the money as soon as possible. It provides a much more logical reason, for her eventually succumbing to corruption, regardless of whether Mike is a cuck or not.

This doesn't even include the tuition, book and other costs of her schooling.
Realistically that would be another 100k unless it's a community college which would ve significantly more affordable or they lived in Western Europe. But still books and other school equipment aren't cheap.

Which brings us to the repayment of the loan and Riley's true potential as a sex worker.
You're correct in assuming $200 a week is pittance for that size of a loan, especially from the mob whose interest rates aren't consumer friendly. At the very least a 5k a month repayment schedule would be expected. At 30% interest on a 26 month schedule. Not a 15 year bank mortgage lol

Riley might have a slow start, but a woman of her attraction could eventually easily make thousands a day streaming, escorting, starting an OF, etc.

However in the end we must suspend disbelief.
