Well in some apparent post from the author on his patreon, he has said that he might have to possibly remove old builds due to legal issues; he said MAY have to but I'd prefer to not take the chance

It's probably a problem with IP rather than content. I'm just guessing, but his legal troubles are probably more along the "please don't sue" lines than the "please don't put me in jail" lines, because I doubt he'd be hesitating publicly if it were the latter.
