Well, I think if he isn't going to continue working on it in a reasonable timeframe, I would rather he just moved on.
Releasing more unfinished content for Stormside isn't gonna make anyone happy, better to move on until he actually decides he's ready to work on it, and if that never happens then at least he doesn't create false expectations for the people that liked Stormside.
It'd make me happy if he dropped the update he's been working on.

He's already announced he was "gonna see about getting the unreleased Stormside content packaged up and released" in September, so any false expectation has already been created. Two or three times for this exact same content drop, really.

And about a week ago he said he was looking to release it this past weekend... One week later.

The new game was designed to be simple to make.
If you know much about making a game at all, it is pretty obvious.
Atemsiel has the ability to make an excellent game. Unfortunately that requires work and thinking over a long period.
The new game is a reflection of someone who does not want to work hard in the long term.
Sure, the game took some effort to design, but updates would require very little work and the game could extend forever and basically... go nowhere.

Well, I can understand the amount of effort and attention to detail with Stormside was realistically not sustainable.
Still, I think he should have tried to reach some sort of compromise and maybe cut some routes or not make as many renders per scenes as he was doing. The quality would be worse, but I still think it would be on par with big games here + I think his followers would understand, better that than just abandoning Stormside.

Studio Hearts. Strange that it's not linked from this game. Here is Atemsiel's announcement of the new game, warning about major differences that a lot of people are making noise about anyway. It's not in the announcement, but I think I remember Atemsiel saying somewhere that Mila (the star of the new game) started as a side character of Stormside and Studio Hearts as a prequel side story.

While we are on the topic of Stormside girls in other games: Technically speaking, you can also think of That New Teacher (by a different developer) as a quasi-prequel to Stormside. It has a very similar premise, except we play a teacher, not a student. And Riley and Cassey have a guest appearance. They are disappointed that That New School doesn't have dormitories. They say they will have to try Stormside as their last chance.

To be precise, Atemsiel said that Studio Hearts story is a bit based on what should have been Taliya's storyline in Stormside. She was a camgirl even if we never reached that part of her storyline (or her storyline at all).

Ah thank you. I already played That New Teacher, its pretty good. I also tried Studio Hearts now, but I think compared to Stormside its trash (boring).

This opinion of Studio Hearts was surprisingly common, which I felt was really unfair and just based on how different the two are. Now that the second release has come out, almost nobody seems to think it's boring any more. What difference one long night can make!

I strongly disagree. I cannot speak for a general audience, but I played the most recent version of Studio Hearts and thought it was in no way interesting, and I will definitely not check out the next updates. This is not just in comparison to Stormside, but in general the premise, the characterization so far and the overall flow are just sooo... meh.
I am convinced that if Studio Hearts did not have the immediate spotlight of being made by "the Stormside guy", it would have disappeared in the ocean of unremarkable releases in the depths of this forum.

I said the same after the first update. Without Stormside, the new game would have croaked by now. It purely coasts on the laurels of his first game.

yeeeep and even then, the game wasn't popular enough because the dev didn't put out enough releases in a decent amount of time, so if Stormside is a niche(due to slow-releases), this dev's new game, is a niche of a niche(because of the developer's overall popularity)
