Hello. I just recently discovered this game and I like it a lot. I like that there is a different route for each girl and you are not force into a relationship or harem. I have 2 questions.
- How often this game got update ? Scheduled?
- Is this game initially designed with sandbox in mind but then the developer change their mind? Became from all the thing I see. Phone, Stats system, the way you "transitions from one location to the next" after a scene. It all feels like its being designed for sandbox gameplay loops. It that was truly the case then I'm glad cuz I hate sandbox in AVN.

As far as I know it's always been a VN and I don't think it was ever intended to be a sandbox. There's only one part that's sandbox, which is the ghost hunt, but it can be skipped or played, if I'm not mistaken, as a VN.

Usually it has been an update every 6 months ish. This time it has been a bit longer. But from skimming the patreon, it seems like the Crowdstrike incident affected the dev somewhat.
This is true, it affected me in that I work in IT, and it fucked up a bunch of my work clients, prompting a whole bunch of overtime to fix their issues. It hasn't been an issue for me for a while now though, and instead the simple fact behind why the update isn't out yet is...

This next part is less of a response to you, and more just a general statement.

Game takes a while to make, but definitely isn't abandoned. If it ever gets abandoned, I'll message the mods myself to have them mark the thread as such, and the monetisation stuff will be shut down. I won't take money for something I'm not working on. For those who are familiar with the 0.22 update, this one is roughly 0.22 sized in terms of renders, and probably about 60% the size in terms of animations. Sometimes it be like that.

My plan to do smaller more frequent updates has obviously not gone quite as I'd hoped, but it turns out that's the nature of the game. I could release things every month, but given how the branching works that could mean for some players they load up the update, click once, and they get "Thank you for playing". I prefer to just do all the things at once, so that an update includes everything that part of the game will ever be. Simpler that way.

I'm still working pretty much every day. This is a lot of why I rarely respond to stuff anymore. It's remarkable how draining things can be, even if you enjoy them, and for the last 4 months or so pretty much all energy I have outside of irl work has needed to go into either household stuff like cooking or cleaning, or the game itself. Once this update is out, I'll probably have to redistribute my time a little for the sake of health. I'm hoping after this update that the earnings from the game will be such that I can reduce my irl work hours a little to make things easier to manage, but I dunno yet. It's been a while, and I'm typing this on a pirate site after all, so I don't really know what to expect. For now I just gotta keep working.

Update is coming. It has some of my best shit in it, imo.

Realistically speaking, most (but far from every) people wouldn't download every update; they would read changelog to see what's new and then decide if they'll download or not.
In net terms, making smaller updates or making bigger but slower updates have similar results.

This being said, consistent updates, be they small or be they large, gets advantage because consistency. People generally like consistency, period, applies to almost everything in the world, exceptions can probably be counted in one hand.

As long that you avoid radio silence and long periods of broken promises OR expectations, you should be fine.

Based on patrons expectation for a release cycle, the approximate reference is a 50% delay to start noticing income loss, and 3 versions (200% delay) to start noticing permanent income loss as people lose trust on you as well.

So you're likely to face pressure if you're not facing already, and the pressure will only grow as time passes, but unless you give radio silence or rely too much on earned trust, you still have time.

And remember: Everyone knows this game is still in development and changes may happen. There's absolutely no need to burnout yourself.

usually I skip a cpl of the small updates myself and usually just hit the midsize if its a game I really like...I think the main thing that annoys ppl(at least me) is radio silence and the usual excuses that we all know and love....if devs get burned out or want some time off I prefer good ole honesty...just my 2cents :/

I just found this thread and got interested, but it seems to me that the game was abandoned.

Anyone?
Probably not abandoned, but it's been over a year since the last significant update. The criticisms that having three paths for each LI was overly ambitious were probably valid. Just on the writing side alone it gets crazy complicated as development moves forward. The result is that progress slows to a crawl with multiple LIs still having no significant content. Unless you have BADIK level financial support, games like this tend to drop off.
