I'll reply to both of these at once.
Atemsiel and Berkili4 are good friends outside of development (https://f95zone.to/threads/companion-of-darkness-s2-ch-10-berkili4.154533/post-15287259). So while this isn't definitive, I thought I'd make a comment based on what information we do have. Gary didn't name Atemsiel, but Berkili4 doesn't appear to want to revisit the Chapter 10 animators, which flags the reliable dev as most likely being Atemsiel.
The only other read, if he's not the one with health issues, would be what Gary said ("every animator he found either wasn't interested, or asked absurd prices").
As to the 'copium' part of it: I like the unknowns and the story of the game, but I'm not that taken with it. I don't like the universe it's set in, and the biggest draw for me was Atemsiel had a 'play it your way' approach (where you could ditch your actual job more or less as much as you wanted). The degree of freedom was nice in a setting/domain that has been overdone a bit. At the end of all of that, I was just trying to provide information because people may miss it, or not put it together. Sure, it's possible it's not Atemsiel with health issues, but I can't really see him fitting into the other categories all that well either, and health issues would track with the delays.

I agree. The problem with the health excuse is that there was a massive change in Atemsiel's comms starting in early September 2024, but he didn't mention any health issues in his one post in this thread since then on November 1 (https://f95zone.to/threads/stormside-v0-23-1-4-atemsiel.115722/post-15249236) or in his last Christmas Patreon post. In fact, he specifically said that he didn't have any excuse, wasn't having health problems and was partially burnt out working on the game.
Remember this was a guy who massively participated in this thread, was on discord for hours basically on the daily, kept his Patreon going reasonably well all while bringing out regular and often lengthy game updates for a number of years. And he was very enthusiastic and optimistic about the game to the point he even had me believing he could pull it off.
That all went out the window in September, which is probably when he got burned out and lost his motivation. It's when he went awol on Discord and in his only two public messages since then he sounded defeated and morose. So we should probably stop looking for excuses for him.

Im pretty sure Atemsiel did the chapter 9 animations of CoD while Gary did the Chapter 10 ones. Everything earlier were stock animations if i remember it correctly. The animations for CoD chapter 9 have been done a long time ago (longer than sept 24).
It could very well happend that Berkili did "not found" atemsiel which would be a third and imo most likely possibility.
I strongly doubt Atemsiel is answering other devs when he isnt even replying to his own mods. If a dev has this restricting health issues which slow the development its best to be just upfront about it.
I think - not counting even darker reasons like dying - a mix out of burnout/procrastination/depression is the most common cause for devs suddenly going offline. The good ones feel kinda guilty about the lack of progress and even talking to the own supporters/mods makes you feel even more guilty.

I'm not too big to wear being wrong in my assumption, but least we know Atemsiel is MIA for Berkili4 as well. So still no clarity on whatever is happening with Atemsiel. (Which dashes my hopes that at least someone knew what was going on.)

In fact, right now I'd like to at least know if he's online via messenger. Otherwise, it's really unclear what could have happened to him there, perhaps you can contact people who are even closer to him, who communicate with him personally in person.
Eh, honestly, this is only a Porn Game after all. People should not get out of their way to find people who communicated with the Dev on a daily basis just to ask them if the Dev is still online.

His mods and other devs haven't been able to contact him in months, he hasn't said anything in his Patreon since last Christmas. It's better if you just move on there are plenty of other games to enjoy, don't try to contact or bother him, if he wants to he will say anything.
Honestly, I disagree. Dev is running a business and there are people subscribed who are still paying. Of course they can just remove the subscription, but it's actually in the interest of the dev if they can track them down, depending on the situation they can keep the sub.

Do you think the dev is lost in some desert or on some island and people going for the rescue will change that or something?

As former Patreon backer. I think this was coming. hr posted or responded less and less. his progress report every two months. but he missed his last one. he also changed his christmas post which at one time. said the 1st of jan was his target date.
this is depressing.

To be honest, the situation is unclear. According to him and his moderators, the update was almost ready and it only needed to be completed and posted. And then the silence? To be honest, it seems to me that he really wanted to just take a break from this. He wrote that the previous year had been hard for him and there was little time. I think he'll be back, but it's unclear when. I'd bet he'd show up before the summer.
And if we talk about the status of the game on this site, then I think that at the moment the status of abandoned only means that he has not written anything on his official pages for 3 months. This clearly corresponds to the dates, and before that, one of the uploaders had already written about it.

I shortly after doing some research confirmed that Atemsiel was indeed his animation dev
Atemsiel has never posted a message on Berkili4's discord, same for Iru.
Flynn, who developed Stray Incubus, abandoned his game due to the health of a family member, which echoes Berkili4's message about Atemsiel's health.
I wouldn't be surprised if he's related to Atemsiel; their games are very similar.

Anyway, this health problem seems serious. I'm still surprised that his Iru moderator for Atemsiel isn't aware of it. If he goes through this, he'll know by now.
The only thing to do is wish the best for Atemsiel, that he can regain his health.
