I can't say I expected the twist at the end. But I did actually found Edith interesting from the start and that MC was a bit premature in dismissing her.

There is actually a short scene with her if you decide to call Ava instead of going to your mom's studio. But I agree she was dismissed too quickly.

Apart from that I also want to give a shout out to a well written family for MC. They have their problems with each other, but you can still feel the great love between them.

I saw someone say that it doesn't make sense for family dynamics to not be dysfunctional in visual novels .

They continued by saying that to avoid such discussions, if there is no incest in these games then there should just be no family interaction whatsoever.

Their response to the problems we have on this site is that if you choose not to have them in your games then make sure not to oppose it and have healthy dynamics. So "something is clearly wrong but don't try to do it right" basically.

While cheating tends to make fictional characters less sympathetic in my eyes, I am always interested in their reasons for straying. It's a shame NTR tends to be so formulaic and the characters stock because the dramatic and psychological potential is off the charts.

Very long story , deeply developed character , impactful choices , probably a very personal project for the author ( he put his entire soul inside it ) .

Ofc it's not really vanilla , even thought you can avoid quite a few thing , the feminization / transition cannot be avoided .

There is no real slavery , the "forced aspect" is just the initial situation . Because the story is set up in a dystopian world and the MC is living alone completely broke in a slum where his daily life consists of staying alive , avoiding thief , and finding some food and a shelter for the night . Not exalty a situation where he can download a dating app and explore "safely" and " respectfully" his crossdress fantasy .

But after that there is practically no coercion. The story is very very long , but the MC get to be very independent pretty soon in the story ( you have your own flat , you can do whatever you want ... ) Not exactly a slave condition .

Recommending Short Sad Stories.

It's a slice of life VN with an overarching narrative despite the name, with each chapter being from the POV of a different character.

There are three chapters so far, two here on F95 and one still

It starts with Alice, a lonely girl with a vivid dream world, and her cynical musings. We get glimpses into her sadness as she narrates her life to the player. Her misery is part justified, part self-indulgent. Chapter two moves on to her brother Zach. He's a stark contrast to Alice, and is battling his own demons. Finally, chapter 3 (the latest so far) revolves around Martha and... I won't say anything about her lest I spoil things

It's generally a bleak story, despite its sweet moments. The game allows you to lean into the darkness and make bad choices, without a game over screen. The story moves on, and you get to live with the consequences. It's done impressively well.

The first 15 minutes really tested my patience. If it wasn't for the strength of your recommendation, I would have left it then and there. So, I gave it a shot for the entire first episode.

The MC's personality can, to some degree, be shaped by the choices. Obviously the red blue choices, but also other actions that are not explicitly marked. Basically being more rash and impulsive vs a bit more in control of himself.

For example, if you are full on red (machoman choices), the MC will go buck wild on that one dude who was being annoying at the club when he was talking to Amanda behind the counter. If you are somewhere in the middle, he will deal with him with controlled force. And I didn't do the route, but I assume if you were doing full blue path, maybe he would resolve it with a conversation. If you are completely unhinged, you lose some points with Amanda. And by the end of the first chapter, Amanda is open to continuing the relationship if you managed to keep the points high enough (by not being a complete dickhead the entire time, but still being assertive). If you didn't captivate her enough, it becomes a nice little fling they had which is honestly probably more realistic. There are also numerous flavor text variations based on his disposition as well.

Honestly, it's a porn game by an amateur writer, so my expectations are always tempered, but when something stands out in whatever way, I take notice.

What I enjoyed in this game was the feeling that certain unrelated events from various characters lead into some convoluted intertwining of their paths which shapes the story. In some fashion, it reminded me of a Guy Ritchie film or Pulp Fiction. Obviously not at that high level of writing, but something that had that spark.

Also, I enjoy it when writers understand their characters and motivations. Like I'm not playing porn games to find the perfect virtual mate or something. I just like interesting characters. The first instance where I felt like the game had potential was when Amanda was arguing with her husband after he catches her cheating on him. She is being such a hypocrite (because she only suspected without definite proof that he was cheating on her) despite the obvious angle where the players should be sympathizing with her. And the writer is fully aware of this. The husband is also obviously being hypocritical, but you can at least understand his frustration at how the whole thing spiraled out of control.

Then, Robert transforms into this confident as hell person when dealing with the husband and catches you off guard. His past is revealed after that, which is sort of a cliche, but the way it was presented after the readers see a glimpse of his true nature was good storytelling.

I personally just enjoy it very much when devs manage to create the sense that your choices are being acknowledged in the script. The game does this extremely well, and the interesting aspects of the writing prompted me to make a recommendation here. I don't often make recs in this thread, because the genre and fetishes that interest me the most do not quite line up with the regulars here lol. But I occasionally stumble onto some games that manage to catch my attention in a "story-first" way, or something close to it at least heh.

Lineage or Legacy is also something that's still on my recommendation after playing it again after a while.

That's the funny thing. I went full blue, and MC still wanted to go beat up Amanda's husband. He was only thwarted by Robert, who basically told him to shut the fuck up. So there aren't two paths where one is macho and the other is even keeled. They are both macho, and you get to choose how much of an asshole you'd like to be.

It certainly does that, and I'm glad you recommended it. I'm not even saying it's not story-first, it could very well end up being that (the dev saying it won't be a harem is a good sign). I'm just saying I didn't like the story so far

Well, I suppose no dev can really catch everything. You know how it works heh. There will be a baseline script and at certain moments, it will check the variables and flags to offer you a few different lines. And in this case, as far as I can see, it's a subtle difference. Imo, subtle variations from the baseline is honestly preferable to wildly opposing dispositions which usually leads to the schizophrenic MC syndrome.
