But what if helping her is only possible, if you choose the seemingly evil path of joining the team of violent bullies? And you'd have to choose this path despite disagreeing with and antagonizing Alexa every chance you get. Like what if the game is secretly keeping track of negative friendship points and somehow turns them positive depending on a convoluted set of choices.
I think it's a really inspired choice on Ezy's part to basically force you to go against all your new friends and "common sense" and side with the bully to eventually help her. After all, her armour is thick and even Ivan, a lifelong friend, couldn't get through. She'd need to see that you're not a threat to her defence mechanisms before she could ever be vulnerable with you.

@Ezykeyal, you're promising a lot here imo and if you manage to pull of whatever you're planning, this is going to be a masterclass in choice based gameplay.
Agreed, this has the potential to be one of the greatest AVNs out there. Tread carefully :)

Thank you for taking the time to compile this list of games. I very much prefer story driven games to those that concentrate on stacking up 'conquests' as it were. I know this is a huge ask and probably a gigantic pain but would it at all be possible to edit the list sometime to indicate whether the game listed has a female or male protagonist? I will play both but far prefer the former over the latter and will always check out one before investigating the other.

It's been quite a while since I played some of these so I might miss a few, but off the top off my head:
  • Along The Edge*
  • A Summer's End*
  • Blackberry Honey
  • Cardinal Cross*
  • Divergence: Beyond The Singularity**
  • Life Changes for Keeley
  • Oathbreaker 1 & 2
  • Penny for Your Thoughts
  • Salome's Kiss*
  • Seers Isle
  • Short Sad Stories**
  • Zia
* Strongly recommended
** There isn't a protagonist, you play from multiple perspectives, some women

has a VN sale, called "Visual Novel Fest" for a week.

Ashes of War has a new update as has Projekt: Passion. Incidentally, both are on Steam and part of the sale. Though at least for PP the new update haven't landed on Steam yet for me. Haven't bought Ashes yet so can't say there.

Just a heads up, PP won't arrive to Steam until season 2 is finished.

I was thinking about the upcoming tag system redesign and how it would make it easier to find actually good games, but then I saw this comment and realized it's completely right and nothing will change :cautious:

As I wrote in the Lesbian Protagonist thread I'm rather pessimistic about the revamp. They don't seem to want to do something actually useful, just add lots of tags; there's around 300 tags in the new list.

Today, released a PDF with what they call a prologue. To me, who loved One Night Stand, it felt like an epilogue. But then I realized it's a teaser for an upcoming "One More Night".

Anyway, I wanted to write about it, since this is something I really like, when a creator drops a written story that gives you background and more flesh for the game/AVN. I loved it when did some spin-offs to A Foreign World, even though apparently I was one of the few who downloaded it. And of course Tlaero has used different ways of fleshing out her worlds.

Does anyone have any recommendations of similar accompanying stories (or combos of AVN plus a different media)?

I love it too, generally, but not in this case. I was already annoyed with the epilogue-ish bit in One Night Stand and I'm strongly opposed to any sort of sequel because it defeats the purpose. After all, if it turns into a relationship, then, by definition, it wasn't a one night stand :)

I don't feel the way you feel, but I totally recognize it.
Like "House M.D." where the main arc is about the audience realizing that House isn't a horrible person, he has a heart of gold beneath the rough exterior...
And when that arc is closed after S01, what is there to do? Why even try to write any more seasons?

I'm happy to hear you read the prologue.

To be completely honest, transferring the characters from one medium (kinetic novel) to another (short story) has been a lot more challenging than I thought.

Writing short stories from scratch is one thing. But writing stories about people your readers already know about is a whole other level of trouble. (I also have scheduled a public post rambling about another huge trouble I'm facing in this project.)

But, seeing there is interest in the project makes me feel really happy, and I just wanted to say - I'll continue to try my best to deliver a worthy Sequel.

I've heard your thoughts on this in the past, and just like then, I still fully agree with your stance :)

I actually don't remember if I've already told this to you, but since it's been several months since ONS ended, I think it's okay to say this publicly.

---

(Before we begin, I want to clarify that I was the one who made the final call, so I'm the one to bear responsibility for the ending)

Originally, the scene (soft route) was supposed to fade to black when Elena leaves the room, as David looks in her direction. As stand-alone experience, that was the ideal point for me to end the story. So, no "One Month Later..."

But Junior felt it was lacking and asked me (with zero pressure) if we could add something else to "wrap up" things more nicely.

By that time, the story I had wanted to tell was already told beautifully, and it was especially because of this amazingly talented guy who was both patient and dedicated to finish the whole thing despite the poor earnings from the project.

And considering how we weren't going to continue the series anyway, the "one month later" was just my secret way of saying thank you to Junior :)

Sure, it was not the ending I had in mind. But considering what I had made with him, the decision didn't feel like a compromise even in the tiniest sense.

---

However, now that I'm actually continuing the story in , that ending no longer works for those two characters

So, I've actively retconned that ending (while also keeping the scene as is) into something else.

Like Kotte said above, (if you skip just the last two lines of the pdf) the whole thing will feel like a more "natural" epilogue to their meeting.

So, if anyone was not quite happy with the ending of the soft Route, I'd kinda recommend reading this pdf (and just skip the last two lines) for a somewhat better ending.

--

PS: The hard Route was meant to end like that from the get go though. That bastard simply could not let go of his chance and had to see if he could get more.
