Price of Power's 25th chapter is ! This concludes the main plot, which will be followed by 5 chapters of epilogue. I've shared my thoughts here.
Hi. Do you still enjoy and recommend this game? The reviews are all over the map. I usually ignore negative reviews about "not enough sex", but in this one the writing and story get a big mix of love and hate. But, you have high standards, so I trust you more than random people :). Thanks.

Yes and no. The characters are good. There is one main Li right from the start, which is refreshing - although there is a harem route as well. And parts of the story are excellent. It can get a little dry and preachy in places though - about the downfall of society, and overconsumption and greed etc. I mean, it places it starts to come off as a lecture complete with power point slides - but if you can make it through that, it's pretty good.

Lustful Sin is a story first hentai game, which is an odd thing but don’t worry, there is a lot of sex – like A LOT. MC is a spirit, accidentally awakened by a curious girl, after 300 years. You don’t really remember how you got locked away. Your family (which basically represents the deadly sins – greed, sloth, envy etc) had sent you to watch over the youngest member of the group – Wrath, in a rural village in Japan. Something happened, the villagers were dying, people were becoming angry and you got locked away. Now you’re awake, the world has changed and Wrath is missing.

Back in the day, the villagers blamed you and Wrath for what was happening and you can’t even be sure they were wrong. Now you’re on a mission, with the help of a group of young women and the kitsune who guards the local shrine, to find out what happened to the old village and where Wrath is.

MC, if you weren’t able to guess, is the spirit of lust. You amplify the lust of those around you and gain power from it. You can control and have sex with just about anyone in the game (eventually) but unless they are a spirit too they either won’t remember or will remember it as a kind of vivid (but extremely positive) dream. And the more you have sex with them, the more their lust and corruption grow.

It is, very much, a harem game even though there is only really one Li – your partner/spouse (A spirit but also a corporate CEO – Greed) but sexual content with her is minimal so far. She knows what you are, she has no issue with you spending all day fucking whoever but she and the other members of your family are resistant to your ability. As for the mortals – there are 4 main girls, a sort of second tier of about 10 side girls – who are important characters, but just aren’t as present in the story and then about … 60-80? (including 8-10 characters from other games – used with permission) other women who are really just there for you to fuck. Although, the sex, it has to be said is pretty vanilla most of the time and it is a sandbox game. But that means if you have some down time where you don’t know what to do, or you’re up to date on the new content, you can go out and have sex with any of upwards of 100 women – frequently in groups.

So while there is a LOT of sex in the game, it is actually part of the story and the main story is a good one.

Game is here.

Honestly price of power is love hate relationship for me. The first 12 or so chapters with the slow burn romance is perfect. Then from there it goes from boring to exciting.

Tho I do dislike the forced pregnancy even tho I knew it was coming I hated when it happened as I didn't feel like it was the right time for it because I felt like they were still at risk of being in danger. Even tho I get the why it needed to be done there and not wait. That was the last update I played waiting for the last epilogue to be finished first to finish the game. Also the power point presentations made me sleepy.

I played till the end of the main story and I really liked it! As with most VNs, harem was a very stupid idea. It didn't fit narratively, so I avoided it. I stopped at the end of the last proper chapter because the dev said the next 5 will be epilogues of cutesy romance shenanigans, and I don't care about that.

Thanks y'all. It is funny to me that this is basically how the reviews come across. It sounds like I'll check it out.

I completely agree with all the epilogs. It always just comes across as 5 different long winded versions of "and they lived happily ever after".

Chapter 5 of Dancing Colors is out. It's a decent episode.

I liked how if MC is having sex with Ashley, he pretty much immediately tells Luna. He wasn't cheating, not really, but it effects Luna just the same, and it was refreshing to see such honesty in a VN.
Just managed to catch up. I like this game so much, and I find it interesting how far apart the two main routes go.
If you accept Ashley's proposal, the resulting scenes are porny in a way that seems so different from what you get if you play a pure Luna path. In a different game, I would have accused the dev of putting those scenes in the game as porn bait for a certain audience.
But I don't get that feeling here, I don't know why.

And I totally agree with you that having the MC confess puts him in a very small group of stand up MCs. I consider myself a pretty decent guy, but I don't know if I would have had the balls to do that, especially in the middle of such a romantic scene...
I would love it if the story is allowed to dwell a little on that painful situation, where he claims to be in love with Luna right after that confession.
My worst nightmare would be if Luna replies - "Oh, how great that you confessed, and since you are such a great guy you can have us both" :) :)

I just played the update to Dancing Colors. tbh im more worried than ever for a sad ending. Maybe it's just be being selfish but it's one of the better AVN's ive played when it comes to romance. That and I lowkey hope we don't see it at least without some time jump showing they did spend some years together before she does die if we do infact get a sad ending.

That didn't occur to me at all, but now that you mention it, it could be amazing. Give me a tragedy over comedy every day :)

Occultus: The Craving has a new update out on . Malady's internal tension about being turned against her will reaches a crescendo, and she makes her first impactful choice. It's a good update with emotional heft, even though we didn't see Cerys at all :)

Thoughts on Zero End's new update? It's out on .

I absolutely loved it, and it's now one of my favourite VNs, way up there with Corporate Culture.

We finally find out what caused the schism between Marie and Caleb, and it's heart-rending. With all the supernatural background, I didn't expect the cause to be such a human tragedy. On that topic, the only other VN which has been remotely in the same ballpark is Alpha, Omega and here, Zero End outshined even that.

Suddenly, everything falls into place. The events of that day explain everything that came after, and why it couldn't have happened any other way.

I've always preferred a celibate playthrough for Zero End. The game actively rewards it, but with this update, I'm more sure than ever that this is the story of Caleb and Marie. Other LIs, while excellent characters, are only pursuable as a concession to the audience. They work much better narratively as platonic friends.

This lovely little exchange exemplifies the star-crossed lovers arc so well:

It's worth mentioning that there is a BIG HINT in the script that you'll only be able to save Marie if you haven't used the book at the end of chapter 1. Something to keep in mind.

The main plot aside, there was a lot to enjoy in the details:
  • Lilith's expanded mythology was lovely. The origins of her curse paint her in a much more... human light. It's wonderfully tragic characterization, especially the game's take on Adam, Eve, and the snake.
  • The subway segment is reminiscent of The Trainman and Mobile Avenue in The Matrix. Leah and her compatriots suffer and seek safety, like Rama and his family did.
  • I liked both of the early endings. The one where you save Alice was especially poignant. Being alive is not the same as living, and this was a thoughtful reminder. The other one is much darker. I liked that Marie realized, at the very last second, that she had pushed Caleb too far. She tries to say "but I loved you", but it's too late.

It's rare to see a VN author go from strength to strength like this, but it's such a pleasure to read when they do. I really can't wait for the next chapter. It was that good!

So, what did you folks think of it? :)
This wasn't my thing - although I didn't make it to the new update. I couldn't really get into the characters (including the MC). Alice I liked a lot, all of the others I found irritating - which isn't good since MC's "new friends" are his main reason for caring so much and he brings them up over and over. I ended up taking the "Leave" option with Chloe at the end of Day 3 and am sticking with that ending. I did go back and try the cannon route, but ultimately decided that I'd done the right thing initially and Leave with Chloe is now my ending that I'm sticking with.

I've been playing Summer Scent recently after forgetting about it for a few years. My misgivings remain and are around this thread. I'm still uninterested in the (far too numerous) dark paths, nor anything with incest, but it seems I've forgotten the nice bits as well.

Like this exchange with Kelly, so sickly sweet as teenagers are wont to do:
Kelly: It helps me a lot too.
Kelly: Eve, Cassie, and you...
Kelly: You make me want to live on, to live more.
Kelly: I don't want it to stop.
That sounds so grim...
Jack: Why would it stop?
She shrugs.

She shrugs.
Kelly: Why would it go on?
Jack: Because we want it to?
Jack: That's as simple as that.
Kelly: But life doesn't always give you the choice.
Kelly: You have to play with the hand you are dealt.
Kelly: Sometimes, you just can't win.
Jack: I don't believe in the no win scenario.
1753117255749.png
She twitches.
Kelly: Hold on a second...
Kelly: Isn't that a Star Trek quote?
Oh God...
Jack: I... might have watched a rerun recently...
She giggles.
Kelly: Am I your Kobayashi Maru?

This girl is perfect.
It's suddenly obvious.
Jack: Oh God, I love you so much.
The dev is a notorious perfectionist with a terminal case of remasteritis, so the game will never be finished, but it's nice to enjoy these little moments just the same :)

Interesting. The other day I thought about this one, but the description just seemed to be the standard incest cookie cutter format. And I couldn't understand the high reviews. Seems there is more to it than I thought. Although, it still doesn't sound like a game for me. But, it makes more sense.

It's not a bad story at all, definitely not cookie cutter writing but it does kinda go downhill. I personally deeply disliked the character Jufot mentioned and was annoyed that she suddenly lives with you and it's not optional (though last I checked, having a relationship with her still is.)

If Jufot puts it in this thread, I have no doubt it is "not a bad story", but if they say "sickly sweet teenagers" I know to run because I'm way to old and jaded to play that :p. But, I'm also old enough that when I see it gets updated I'll have forgotten everything about it and may give it a try. Lol.

I'm old enough that a woman can be a MILF and also young enough to be my daughter so I just have to remember what it's like to be a teenager, which isn't too hard (as long as it's only moments and not the entire dialogue of the game).

I want a game where the main character is the ugly old bastard trying to NTR the college kid. I want to know what this "immersion" thing is that everyone talks about. Story driven, obviously. Well fleshed out characters and all that.

I don't need things to be about me, or a version of me, to get immersed. I mean, if I can't get immersed in a story, it's not going to work for me. It's true of most things though, there are no movies about people like me, or novels about people like me - or not many. I just have to put myself in a position of someone else and use my imagination. I do run into problems sometimes because I have a substantial amount of life experience, and experience with women and don't always react to things the way the developer wants me to or thinks I should. That includes sometimes refusing the "Call to adventure" (per Joseph Campbell) - and continuing to refuse it.

Most days, the ones I want the most are stories where the main character is not a complete idiot. Bonus points for a man in his 30s or 40s, who's been around the block a time or two, and isn't some clueless teenager. There are a few of those out there, and I enjoy those the most.

To be clear, I'm not recommending the game. The vast majority of its content does not appeal to me, as it contains sexually abusive situations and/or incest. The reviews are the usual porn-brained nonsense, nothing out of the ordinary. I just wanted to highlight a single exchange, as it seemed unusually kind and well put together.
