Tragedy always struck us in the most unexpected ways, but the most important thing is how we strive through until the end.
I feel we as a community should have done better in supporting you.
A game is a game, while this masterpiece will be missed by most. What is foremost significant is the reform of your life.

I wish you, Flynn, all the luck in your next leg of the journey.

Hey y'all

as a friend of Flynn it's nice to see all the support and sorrow from everyone.
I am sure he will see all these comments and it fills me with joy so many people care about him and his game.

Stray Incubus was the reason i came back to the avn community side after abondening it for almost a year and in extend did something that ultimtely changed my course of live. Not only did his cute and funny girls made me want to make emotes and stickers for Flynn and many other creators afterwards, no also because of him i started learning to make renders myself and plan on doing my own game.

Flynn and i might only know us for almost 2 years now but the influence he had on my life is undeniable.
Sadly things change, we can't stop and we have to deal with. This is one of these times and it fills me with pain that of all people it has to hit Flynn.

I hope i will be able to help Flynn in his way and the fans of Stray Incubus as good as i can to overcome this situation in the best way possible. Hope dies last.

From a fan, junior and friend

If it's not a bother to ask, how do you make renders? I've always wanted to learn how to do them but all I can find on YouTube are tutorials and little else.

People putting the blame on the leaks for the dev giving up on this game is such a weird statement to me.
And yes, I agree with you. This is one of the faces of the industry—leaks. So you have to be mentally prepared for that. First and foremost, that's what I always tell aspiring devs who ask me tips either about HS2 stuff, or what to expect. You'd have to have some kind of thick skin to survive this side of the world.
Reading this guy, you would think that he has been constantly bullied 24/24 and is now suffering some massive trauma.

Devs, you are making games with borrowed programs and models. When you start a game, do it for the passion before the money. Patreon or whatever sites are not far off charity, if people like what you are doing then they will support you. If people didn't support this game, it was because they didn't think it was worth it. Don't put the blame on outside circumstances.

If outside circumstances must be pointed out however then it should be the MASSIVE difference between some devs. Like the Eternum dev making 30k each month while others are barely making ends. But that's more of the supporters fault. I never support projects who are making far too much money for the product they deliver. In that case, I go for smaller devs who need it more. People should do the same rather than waste their support to fill the bank account of a single overvalued guy.

but why are people asking for other people to take over the project? You realize that it's just some character models and whoever "takes over" won't even make the same story or even artwork.
Yeah, they're wrong for asking for someone to take over the project. While i kindly suggested that "IF" possible. CO - operate the project with Flynn. Hear me out, not to completely finish the project with all of its intended chapters and story. BUT for it to atleast get an ending so the dreading "abandoned" tag can get slapped off and the "completed" tag can be slapped on.

Reason for why we should hope and aim for "completed" would be so that new people still visits the game. Sure it may have a shit ending if said project and some friendly developers that could help Flynn CO operate Stray Incubus for a while. BUT atleast new people would still be able to play it. "they can still play it" sure but i doubt you would look at games that has the "abandoned" tag.

Honestly it's quite impossible for this game to get an ending even if you somehow make it abrupt. But hey let a man dream ❤

that's personal preference. I, personally, would play an "abandoned" game if there was enough content in it. I only care about preview pictures and what reviews say.

But I also barely ever revisit a game and I don't chase updates, so.

I’m sorry, but the notion that piracy affected his income to the point of him dropping the project is pure delusion. Most of the pirates would never donate/buy the game, regardless of whether the content was leaked or not. His game simply never gained the following it needed, whether it was due to the early game’s terrible renders or something else—which, honestly, I can’t pinpoint, considering I really liked the game. It had mostly great models, a good story, and genuinely fun dialogues where characters spoke like actual humans.

There are plenty of games here with huge followings, even when the developers haven’t released content for a while—sometimes even for years...

Honestly, love your answer. As i myself almost do the same. As i'm trying to find old games i played YEARS ago that surely has been abandoned.

I'm sorry but I'm calling bullshit. If I recall correctly, the dev basically moved to a very expensive Euro country and expected the income from this game to fully support their lifestyle while attending university and working on this part time. That was clearly never going to happen.

The overlap between people paying for vs. pirating the game is absurdly small in reality. 99.99% of people who download were not going to pay for the fucking game if downloading had not been an option, give me a break.

The game had tanked in quality anyways, after I think ch. 11 or so, it had lost a lot of its original character and charm.

You guys are grieving for the game that we thought this was going to become, but it had already become clear from the last few updates that it was on the all-too-common path of rushing out sloppy updates and chasing higher profits.

One thing I don't understand: Why nuke all and everything?
Every ability to download or even just to read about the game was nuked (except from here). There wasn't even a notice about the abandonment on his patreon or if there was it got nuked with it instantly. The only notice was on Discord and that's the only thing remaining there while everything else is gone.
Why not let something like "Itch" up to let people still download and play the game with a clear notice of it being abandonded? Keeping some doors open to return to the project even if years later... Now it just seems like it's the wish of the dev for this game to be forgotten entirely and forever...

I may not be a dev but I would think that if I created something I'm proud of and invested a significant amount of work and time into something I enjoyed making and had to abandon that, I would keep it up with a notice about it being abandoned by me but still for people to enjoy and remember my work I've done so far. But that's just my opinion on this...

something else Must have happened especially with how his discord message is worded just Like it really wouldn't surprise me if Flynn started getting threats also.

To just Uproot life and being worried about self's family, I feel its another Sick Fuck Harassing and stalking Devs to the point they are in serious fear.

Hope Flynn and Fam are all safe and is able to recover from everything.
