and what do you think will more benefical??You're only looking at this from a surface level, which isn't to say it's wrong, just that there's a lot more thought into the reasons as to why. Being on here, I'm sure you've witnessed plenty of games go either on-hold or abandoned where you might wonder how or why; you've probably also seen some games be incredibly successful but their progress begins to take a little longer or other content comes out before an update (such as custom renders). Please remember that for as much as each and every dev is doing what they're doing because they have a story they want to tell....they require money to survive.
It is a cutthroat industry and everyone is battling for support in their own ways, so they have to come up with unique options to garner said financial support. It's more than just making a game - afterall, once the game is completed what happens next? Flynn is a creator that has been shafted by early leaks which reduce financial support, which in turn means less output for continuing the game.
For as much as people can argue about being a pirate forum and releasing updates early, if a creator doesn't have a decent support (and financial) base, then all that'll happen is another game being labelled on-hold or abandoned and people bitching and moaning about why. When we all know why
10 High tier supporters paying $40-80 per month who most likely unsub after paying or maybe staying subbed...
or 500 to 1000 supporters paying lets say $5-10 per month who stay subbed because it isn´t so much because it will not hurt so much in someones purse???
i would rather have a few hundred supporters paying lets say $5-10 than maybe 10 or 20 high tier supporters that would likely unsub after paying once and change to a lower tier after an update is out.
the few hundred lower tiers will stay subbed every month and it brings them more money than high tier supporters that are not likely staying.
okay some would maybe but look at the numbers then what brings more money the low tiers from $5-10 Dollars or the few high tier supporters...
sometimes it can be daunting to have so high tier ranks and that can block the flow of lower tier ranks joining.
even more so when the timeframe from the highest tier to the lowest is mostly a month between.
there are a few devs that have tier ranks to only $15-20 dollars and that seems to work too.
i am not saying that Flynn974 should change something just saying it is crazy how much money some people pay for such as an gameupdate for a game in progress.
it is fine for me either way because i will pay for what i think to support, and everybody is free to do what he wants.
