Yeah, it is easy to write a story when don't have to take into account the many branching paths. Just one scene only with no stat checks. The difference of an RPG versus just a scene is tremendous. Try branching it out with several routes and make sure it's bug free? Just saying. It isn't as easy to create a story with many more paths. Don't forget to fix or adjust for bugs once you start going through ladders.
I did several IF chapters and became overloaded to a stop myself (text only with computer coding), without being paid though.
This is very basic scene and reusing someone else's resources instead of making your own on top of story building. You do know that there is no option for character build either and the issues of clothing on models not blending for every model alteration as well?
Currently there are model changes, new background choices to alter how get through the story. and more paths in latest. I don't pay monthly either. I do keep track of how far and story is pretty decent amount of time in Bangkok.
It's easy to write a branching path story. You write one path, finish the game. Go back and write the next path. Literally the easiest way to do it and doesn't require much organization.
But generally path games suck. I am a one and done kind of player. I want zero replayability in my games. And replayability is overrated. How many people have steam games but only a completion rate of 30% or less? How many people bought BG3 the most replayable game ever, and instead of playing it more than 3 times, they just downloaded and moved onto new games?
Who wants a loyalty path in their games? Wasting development time for a dev to make vanilla sex scenes with a husband? Go read a romance novel? why are you making developers waste time on you - that's not a porn game, that's a wholesome love game. I don't think this is the place for you if you want that. Paths are dumb... so how many none vanilla/loyalty paths can you actually have in a game?
I dunno what's the hate with kinetic novels, at least they don't lie to you about an illusion of choice which usually doesn't exist. And when it does it's an absolute pain in the ass to organize the saves or replay the game entirely.. A pain in the ass to muddle through a player written walkthrough trying to figure out which choice you didn't select and now you cant get on the path you want... I still can't figure out how to get on the path I want in Good girl gone bad... and ORS is just going to be another nightmare especially when there are no in game walkthrough mods that actually function properly. Right now the in game walkthrough still wont tell you how to get on a path with holly for example in that game.
