Absolutely. Don't finish it then those that gave money should be legally entitled to a refund, with the only recourse chap7 bankruptcy. If one doesn't want to risk that then don't start what you can't finish. I mean before scam sites like Patreon and Kickstarter became the latest fad devs usually signed up with a publisher and if they tried to take the money and run they'd end up sued at the least, if not arrested for theft. To avoid that risk they maybe self-published on their own site and hoped for the best. These days 99% end up wasting not only their time but everyone else's too after they realize they're only going to be getting maybe 1% of the income from it they hoped and then simply quit (usually more pay per hour to work at McDonald's).
