I didn't realise how long it has been since part 7 was released (part 7 was released in June 2024 from what I can tell on his Patreon so 15 months). I'm getting concerned about this games future which is suprising as I considered this dev one of the most reliable. I hope he can get through this slump.

Hey, I keep getting bugs with anything related to "The Author." Basically, once Valentine meets with Knight, all images are gone, it always says "image 'youroldfriends(number and name of the girl you finished the game with)' not found", which is really annoying because I'm basically missing a whole scene that reconnects with the previous game. How can I fix this? I'm playing the Book 1 version, since it's the one compatible with Steam as well and the one recommended for those who hadn't played "Unbroken" yet.

I agree that its sliiightly disapointing but lets be real, Els is the the heir in charge of the aldair empire anyway, its veeeery unlikely her dad has any interest in overruling her in her own project considering he knows what shes able to and what he expects of her anyway

re-dl and re-install, using any mods? since you are paying customer ask from dev.

Not saying its the same here but it could be the case, the MC kinda have to make some decisions and will become a one woman guy (on most paths) and im not sure if devs just lack the ability to write good (or bad?) relationships, consider it boring or a simply overwhelmed with the required pathing at this point.

Theres still lots of story to be written here but the relationships are close to a point where commitment is necessary, maybe thats a part which troubles him or leads to a writers block lacking ideas of fun/exciting lewd content.

A little late to respond here... but well... i butt in anyways.

The whole relationship decision thing is the biggest issue i had with the previous game.

You fuck around, and at the end... you get the screen "hey buddy, which girl and ending do you want?" and thats it... everyone is fine with it, no reaction of the other girls or so, and of course the MC was just so loveable, its totally fine that he fucked around the whole time. And such nonsense. If its not a harem game (which i dont like for the most part, because they are boring and ridiculous mostly) there has to be at least some outcome and consequence for fucking around.

But that is something most DEVs struggle with and cant deliver. Cause this means... branching, a lot. The more girls you have, the more branching is coming at ya.

So far, Unbroken manages it somehow kinda easy. Most of the girls already know that the MC fucks around with others in the house... and most kinda shrug it off. But its obvious that the DEV doesnt plan to keep it that way, and some of the reactions of some of the girls already show that.

So yeah, decision time is coming up at some point. The DEV of this game scratched this decision time in the previous game, and let just the player pick at the end, at that was it... but iam sure that the DEV doesnt want that for this game again. And we are only done with "Book 1" i dont know how much the DEv has planned for the game... but i dont see the finish line yet... so yeah, he has to deal with branching, and that will pile up, a lot. And as i see it, he struggles with it.

The last DEV-Report was kinda alarming. Looks like he is overwhelmed. Most DEVs drop the ball at this point, things growing over their heads... and thats it. Only a few get through this and manage to finish their games in a good way. Very few. Some just rush to the finish line if things get overwhelming...

Hopefully this DEV is one of those few who can deliver good quality in the future and make this game complete at some point in a really good way. But how he ended the last game, i have my doubts.

For a game finished that long ago, you'd probably be better suited writing to the creator directly and inquire about the missing scene on Patreon. I have been rather surprised by a couple responses there.

This would be an Unbroken block in need of a breakthrough. He was able to clear his Author block and finish that VN years ago. ;)

Just happened to finish playing The Author last week. :)

So after looking into it apparently I played the entire game from start to finish with the wrong walkthrough mod installed. The entire game worked, it just didn't play any animations. Not even any errors or anything, it just held on the previous still picture instead.
