that is one of the best news i have heard from someone so far.
I am So happy to see that they are ready for a comeback,
i miss that lady call herself, Fow-Chan.
Well, Thanks one more time,
i hope this will a relevant information to rely upon, and probably heard from them?
Do have any clue how long this game is going to take to reach its final shape?
Just so you know, Fow-Chan wasn't actually a woman.

Yes, there are standard scenes, Premium scenes in gold with speed controls and such, and Space Whale scenes, 20 scenes from backers at the highest level during the Kickstarter campaign.

There'll also be more cinematic love-making at the end of each lady's devotion quests when they're added in the future.
Does that 20 whale scenes open to every1 or only to bakers? Is there way to open them?
As for their scene system, for me it is pretty shame that thay've choosed that wierd way of developing, like some other forum members I thought that game will be "new level" of genre, many fully controled scenes with good animation and so on, for sure they have done a lot of work, but it could be way more better.

Well this is how they currently are, bear in mind its a game in development. They've stated in a earlier dev blog they're planning to overhaul Pandora, but I wouldn't bet on seeing that anytime soon.

As for that Whale scenes, no, as those were limited spots during the Kickstarter campaign.

Your statement isn't exactly new, so no one's gonna call you a troll. While I understand the frustration, one has to keep in mind the scale of the project. This isn't some basic VN where you can just hold the shift + space bar down through every conversation til you get to the smut. Its a full fledged game, so it will take time. Even full on studios don't have that kind of fast dev time, less they're just recycling assets for a yearly sports game or something.

And I doubt they're being lazy, considering they keep us updated on a regular basis to their progress. They've also committed to and have been keeping to a 3-4 month update schedule thus far since the major hurdle of the launch to first content update.

so tl;dr its a marathon, not a sprint. And if they expect people to keep supporting them after the game's done, finishing what they started is a pretty good incentive. There's no Patreon money to come in monthly, so their income is solely from selling the game.
just gonna glosse over the amount of money in their pocket, using the "they are a small team excuse". this isn't a mass effect game, the H scenes should not be so few and so low quality compered to the content they made when they had a lot less money. so the excuse of "they won't hire anyone to speed/improve things" is not going to fly with money they earned. the Dev team could hire even some game Devs from this site and then sit on their asses focusing only on the game itself while someone is working on the H content.

download.jpg

I didn't argue "hire more new people with no exp" like some big companies do (bringing new people who have no idea and must be taught by others how to do their jobs) hire someone who knows his craft, or slow down the story updates (voice over is the only thing that costs money, writing the Dialogue they can do from their basement at home) at the heart of it all this is a sex game. not to expect higher quality and more H content is mind blowing to me. better focus on the combat and Dialogue than what the game was made for and because of...?

don't defend bad Dev choices, I've seen this before more than enough times. tho to be honest by the end of the day it's not a bad choice I can't argue over this, they made over a million dollars. to them they are doing 100% everything correctly.

tldr: before they had 1 million dollars you used to get 30+ minute sex scenes, now with the money you get mostly wips... fucking wips, and you tell me not to judge because I don't know what's going on behind the scenes? people paid for a sex game, getting this amount of H content is insulting...

Lot of words which can be answered by it’s a game in development. They did hire game devs, but they are still small. You don’t make a 30+ hour game that fast. Specially when it’s your first one

not a planned film where you only see the finished product.

people are not complaining because of a slow timeline thing. its the CORE game elements thats dogshit. no amount of time is going to fix this if they keep releasing the same things in the same way. i have no idea how you can even say they need more time, while at the same time watching them release the same updates.

yeah its a marathon and not a race. they are making a shitty game SLOWLY
*in your opinion

Forgetting that tidbit

glad you responded vvalen! because you are basically half the posts of this entire thread, i am especially curious about your opinion.

1. what do you rate this game as of today?

2. what do you think you will happen in 1-2 years to change your rating of this game.
no point in answering, we all know what he'll answer, and we can all predict what will actually happen

Just wondering about so many haters here. If you don't like the game than why are you in this thread? You also don't seem to understand that game development is expensive as fuck. A modern AAA game costs several hundred million, they have less then 2 million.

I'm not saying they are making the best game ever, by industry standards it's not even a great game, but I think they definitely deserve some credit for what they've done so far, given the lack of experience and the low budget. They created fun characters, a nice story with stupid humor and an actual game. If you want your "games" just to be glorified porn galleries without any story or gameplay, there are enough games like those out there. There are also hundreds of games which are just asset flips with some porn added in. Hell, most other creators don't even bother creating their own characters and just use pre-made ones from DAZ or the like. So, you are actually complaining about getting more than just videos? Yeah, makes sense. You act like this was a scam like Monster Girl Island.

So, can't wait to see how many laughs and facepalms I get for this post since most of you guys aren't capable of a real discussion.

It is their first game that they made while learning UE4/5. So it kinda understandable that their game is slightly mediocre. StudioFow biggest mistake for subverse isn't the gameplay, the core mechanic or how long the update is. No the biggest mistake of StudioFow with Subverse. Is that they made it their first game. When something like Subverse or the concept of it. Should of been done by people with years of experience. SF should of started out making small games first. Get enough experience. Before they touch this. This is a mistake that alot of Eroge/porn developers here make the mistake. they start an ambitious project that they have no experience in making as their first game. And get burn out before they complete it. That why alot of Eroge here get abandon. Subverse should be a lesson to all future devs here. Make small projects first. Build up experience before any attempt on ambitious games.

Well, seeing as you asked nicely. Story wise I love it. Probably give it an 8/10 there. But primarily it’s main plot, most of the side quests are dependent on knowing a lot of internet folk and game devs. So every reference isn’t gonna be gotten. The humor is divisive that I know, but having grown up on things like South Park, it felt more usual to me.

Gameplay wise I’d go with a 7. The fact that it is an actual game goes a long way. I like that there’s actually shit to do, as opposed to most other h-games. VN’s where ya just hold the space bar til you get to the branching story choice, match-3 style games, or the dozens of RPGmaker style games. Not to knock them, but I do appreciate that there’s some effort required. Even so they were considerate enough to add a skip system into the current version for those that have difficulties. The ship combat could use more variety than just enemy type and special weapon of choice. They’ve adding different mission goals, but things like power-ups or different music would be nice. That’s what they’ve done with Grid combat, which has been improving in my opinion.

Now in regards to the smut. It’s been hit and miss, primarily due to the nature of early access development. I knew from the start it was gonna be the most derided part of the game, from its small starting plate, to the length of the animations. And while the variety is nice to have, obviously not every scene will appeal to everyone. That being said, it’s still a work in progress, and I don’t wanna be too harsh on something that might be entirely different by the time we’ve reached 1.0

Full voice acting is also a huge blessing, as so many other games are only partially voiced, or use generic moans during its smut. Much as I like NLT’s games, seeing most of their sex scenes have about 3-4 voices among like 12 ladies isn’t exactly fun for the fapping.

Devotion quests are coming, and they’ve been told to be lengthy quest-lines with personal character interaction. And I can only hope the cinematic lovemaking at the end of it will make some people happy. Given each is supposedly a good few minutes, and there’s 10 ladies to do it with, you might very well end up with a 30 minute compilation of lovey dovey;)

But if I have to give it a number in its current form it’d probably be a 3. Because there’s really only a few scenes I’ll go back to watch when I feel like it. And much like a lot of people have been saying here, I like a bit of context to go with the smut. While I choose to interpret Pandora as all the fucking the crew is doing during the time in between missions, I’d appreciate if there was more to it.

I know I have the rep of basically being a sycophant for the dev, but that’s just due to me being a lifelong supporter, day 1 of their Patreon days and all. It’s easier to have faith when you see they’ve done everything they intended to do.

Do I think the game is perfect? Of course not, no game is. But I do feel it is leaps and bounds ahead of any adult game. I can’t really go back to non-voiced games after this, the difference is just jarring. Much like their films did, I think this game’s success is raising the bar for adult games. Is it taking long to develop? Yes, but I see plenty of other games here that have started back in the 2010’s as well that are still aren’t finished or were abandoned (looking at you Milfy City). Game dev isn’t easy and not everyone has the endurance for it. But since the first lengthy period between launch and the Ela update they’ve stayed consistent with updating the game in a timely fashion.

Lastly, given the game is also training their animators in the engine’s use for future films, the difference between their SFM films and UE4 ones will be astronomical. Given what they could do with an ancient unsupported program like SFM, imagine what they’re gonna be doing with a significantly better toolset is just mmmm.

So I’d say don’t lose hope on the game, as we’re only 6/10 gals in and a lot more to go and update :)

Just noting a couple things here, it’s just UE4 they ain’t gonna switch engines mid-development, that’d just overcomplicate things (see duke nukem forever xD)

And they did hire professionals with years of experience. They aren’t naming them, and they’ll likely be credited with a pseudonym, as we all know how much the public looks down on you once they see you’ve done smut work in your life.

Unless it an entire studio. It still wasn't wise for StudioFow to make Subverse their first game. I think they should of work on smaller games into they get to the point of working on Subverse .

I’d argue their SFM films were their smaller games. They have professionals handling the game side of things, so they’re on the animation front. Knowing how to divvy up responsibilities is how you avoid things like burnout or saddling one person with so much if they end up needed a break it derails everything.

But wasn't their SFM were just animations? UE4/UE5(Their pretty much the same except that 5 is better if you know 4 then you pretty much know 5 as well). Is great at making movies as well. If Subverse was a movie instead of a game. Then I agree with you their SFM movies were small movies that was leading up to films such as Subverse. But it a game, not that a film. Not saying that their experience of making movies on SFM didn't help. From what I can tell they did help them learn how to UE4 easier. But it wasn't enough to help them make Subverse a better game. Here the thing one of StudioFow films is "KUNOICHI: BROKEN PRINCESS" Now they don't own Kasumi from dead or alive. But that doesn't mean they can't create their own. Now it they took Kunoichi and made it a 3D sidescroller, with 10 levels. They would have easier time making, finishing(compare to Subverse) and more importantly getting experience. That they need for future projects.

Well we don’t know the future, but I know FOW eventually wants to have both a movie and game division. But I think a side scroller might be overshadowed by say Future Fragments if they did one right now.

Agree we don't know the future. And their nothing wrong with doing both UE4/5 is great at making games and film. As for being overshadowed by Future fragments. Not Quite Future fragment is a 2d side scroller that a metrodvania that already has tought competition like night of revenge(https://f95zone.to/threads/night-of-revenge.35414/). Although to be fair FF art style is pixel. The closest game to that style is kyrieru Noaika(https://f95zone.to/threads/noaika-first-demo-kyrieru.56788/) But it looks like it been abandon. Because oh Kyrieru site his last post was on August 18 2021.
No StudioFow being a master of 3d animations. StudioFow so their sidescroller would be 3d,and unlike Future fragments it not a metrodvania. SF game would look closer to Strider 2014
Or Scrider Asuka if you prefer but 3d.

So do we know if they have any plans to incorporate all or most of the pandora animations into the story?

I haven't played up to the latest update but from what i have played, it feels like the pandora system has little to nothing to do with the story line. It feels like you're playing a regular game and viewing a sex scene gallery viewer separately. There's this very big disconnect between the two to the point where you can finish the game, then go back and view all the scenes in pandora if you choose and you won't feel like you're missing anything story related.

So as it is now, it feels like this is not an adult sex/h game and just a regular indie game.
