Most of mine would be visual novels, especially if they also have gameplay elements to them whether it's an RPG, dating sim, or whatever. A lot of them have high quality artwork and voice acting and a strong empasis on story that tends to build up into the sex scenes (though not always as much as I'd like). Not exactly this site's speciality (mostly focuses on indie-ish work), but hey I'm also a big fan of indie stuff like Monster Girl Quest, Night of Revenge, Shrift, Tsukinomizu Project's games, etc too, and am pretty big into ero-modded games (like Skyrim).

It needs to have either a pretty decent or better story (I consider gameplay-based premises part of that even if the gameplay itself isn't all that great) or a pretty decent or better gameplay to keep my interest, otherwise if the porn is the only good thing about the game then it really shouldn't be a game in the first place, and those are exactly the kind of games people just tend to get saves for or gallery rips for.

My problem with Subverse is, as I mentioned, the laughable story and characterization coupled with lackluster gameplay that doesn't really have much to do with the pron. The story doesn't seem to be getting any better but at least they're trying with the gameplay.

Too bad the MC gives me the cringe so bad my boner often kills itself.
None of the games mentioned seem better than Subverse (even in it's unfinished form). For me. And if Subverse porn content looks disconected from game to you - I don't understand how Skyrim with porn added is enjoyable to you as porn content is completely unrelated to story. Visual novels are not even actual game (unless it does have some game mechanics) - just a digital porn novels with pictures.

I actually have the game on Steam
Sadly, me too... :HideThePain:

It does feel like the captain is not really the star of the game. Even though they advertised it to be that way to attract a larger audience. Yet the whole Pandora system is just filled with mantic sex or toys or lesbian stuff. Which is fine but let's be real here. The majority of people who would play this game are going to be guys. Most guys are not into mantic sex. So, it's really sad that they are only catering to a small demographic for majority of their scenes.

I get that StudioFlow was a studio that was known for its bestiality videos or gifs. Now they are making a game for a wider audience and to be blunt. I don't care for all the mantic sex scenes. It's fine that it has some but like you said if you filter out just the captain only scenes with the girls. It's like a small fraction of the videos you can unlock.

Like I think Lily has about 30 scenes and about 8 or those scenes are with the captain. So, talk about getting cucked on your own ship.
Yeah, it's been said many times that SFOW is well known for their bestiality/gangbang/rapey content and I guess their main audience are fans of such stuff, which I totally don't have a problem with. Though, their decision to go with a male protagonist/harem route and keeping their main thing (bestiality) at the same time was really a bad idea from the beginning because as we see it's one of the main issues for many players. Such opposite things like harem and bestiality/NTR don't work well together, and mixing them in one game is a one way to piss a lot of your customers off...

the game pretty much is just ntr wrapped in a sweet lie. iirc someone said before the pandora rework, ALL the girls would fuck anything and anyone else more and sooner than the mc, even though the game was advertised as building up a harem of girls for yourself on a grand space adventure.

the dev is a cuck. tbh "The dev is a cuck fetishist" should just be put into the OP so no one needs to ask about ntr ever again about this game.
100% of this.

I don't agree with you if you think MGQ isn't better than subverse.

I know MGQ is not a masterpiece of gameplay, it's a really simple turn-based RPG, but at the very same time, Subverse is also very basic compared to other "non-porn" games sharing a similar gameplay.

However, story-wise MGQ completely crush subverse. Characters are far more likeable, story is way more powerful and a lot of scenes have way more impact.

It's pretty common to hear from MGQ players that they came for the porn and stayed for the game. I don't think Subverse will ever achieve that.

I'm getting 'Legend of Queen Opala: Origin' discussion flashbacks every time I visit here. Is this NTR? What is the point of a male MC if all the women fuck everything in sight? Why are some of the porn scenes seem so disconnected from the game? These things are the filler discussion that make pages go in the triple digits.

It may have better written scenario (but for me Subverse scenario is more interesting).
But as you noted - it's very simplistic RPG. And it's main character is shota - hate that.

100% of this.
Wasn't this known since before they released the first version of the game?

I remember when people pressed the devs over the fact that the game was going to have bestiality stuff in it, and wanted to know how that was going to jive with the supposed romance/harem aspects, the best the devs could come up was a promise that there would be an option to skip the bestiality/NTR content. Mind you, they literally meant that you'd just skip these scenes, but they would still be happening and the plot would acknowledge this fact - so what they were proposing is that you were just going to miss out on the majority of the content.

Realistically, they should have decided before even announcing the project which direction they were going to go with - vanilla harem romance or hardcore bestiality breeding - either choice would have been "fine" and founds its audience, but by deciding to deceitfully market to both they ended up in this weird middle-ground that pleases nobody.

Not that the rest of the game is any better. The whole thing is just a monument to wasted potential and lack of talent.

All this content was moved to Pandora system.

Thoud I would really like vanilla harem scenes as at the moment there is only one (ffm pov bj)

100% of this.
If you look on Steam the trailers that are there is kind of deceptive. Yes they mention that they were the studio that made a werewolf eat out a girl's butthole or something. But the impression that I got was you are a captain of a ship, and you are recruiting a bunch of hot females. So far so good right. But looking at the Pandora's scenes it like none of the scenes cater to me.

Now it's fine that there is some mantic sex but it's too much. They have planets that you can scan and you can do space or ground combat but I find it to have no incentive to do them for pooter points to unlock scenes I don't even care about. So I unlock the scenes I want to see and the rest stay locked and I don't even bother doing the other planets.

I play a lot of games and I like doing side stuff, but not here. So unless they start listening to the majority of people, this game is only going to get a small reception.

Sad really. I thought this would be that Mass Effect type game with sex. And while it does have sex scenes, it does seem underwhelming.

Anyone who thought this was going to be a NFSW Mass Effect has gotten a rude awakening by now. I was one of those at the start but I soon came to realize what this game was going be all about...
Imho, if the devs came out at the start and flat out told that the game would be like people wouldn't really care much about it...

It's exactly the same deceitful bullshit they pulled with Scarlet Nights.

That's even worse - so now that they finally realized they have made a major blunder in how the game was advertised they're trying to backpedal?

Not that it matters since the gameplay aspect of the game is completely detached from the porn, which in turn is completely detached from the narrative.

Backpedal what? They did realize that a lot of people wouldn't happy (as people were very vocal in kickstarter pages) with things happening in story and just adding "skip" button - so some compromise was made. Some scenes with captain happen during the story itself (not just Pandora). And there should be long/higher quality scenes with captain and crew members for devotions quests
