Actually, he's right about the animations. Studio FoW's past works show that the sex scenes could be much better. And no, making a film isn't all that different. I understand FoW's falterings since DarkCrow was always a shit writer and a poor director. To make a proper film or a game, first you put adequate effort into planning. You storyboard the script and the scenes and you carefully plan out the features the game will have.

The quality of the sex scenes in Subverse is atrocious. They are perfectly capable of animating better quality sex scenes, even making variants of sections of scenes, it simply requires planning and effort. The fact is they got lazy.
So their works are bad now cuz of DC, but the past works (which are all directed by him) are also good?

Also the films and games are made using entirely different engines. Imagine doing a thing a certain way for years and then shifting over to a completely different method.

And you’re also using fact for your opinion. If you don’t like it as is, fine. It is going to get overhauled eventually. But to call it lazy is vastly underestimated how much work goes into making a looped animation. Try making one in SFM yourself and see.

As was often commented in Studio FoW's Tumblr and Patreon feeds by me and several other supporters, the animations were great but the story and writing were lame. There were entire debates and even flame wars about DC's handling of the stories.

Wrong again. Implementing the animations into a different engine takes experience, I'll agree there. But the animations aren't made in that game engine. Furthermore, getting used to a new engine has no relevance to them taking the time to make better sex scenes that consist of more than three-second loops.

There are plenty of erotic animators in the scene who make way better looking sex scenes than what we see in Subverse.

BTW - I followed and supported Studio FoW through Tumblr and Patreon for over four years. I still remember those top-tier supporters and Studio FoW members who were the most hostile and abusive toward supporters who gave constructive criticism. I can guess who you are. Your avatar is a dead give-away.

Do you have proof the animations aren’t made in the engine? Cuz half the point of Subverse is getting their animators familiar with UE4, as that’s what their films will be made in in the future.

And again they are overhauling Pandora. I don’t know when, because frankly it’s the part they’d probably worry about last, the game and story being the likely priority.

As for ye olden Patreon days. I can scarcely remember any members that didn’t join the discord after it was axed. If you were there, you’d have picked up the former supporter tag. So sorry if I don’t remember you among the thousands of supporters.

I forgot, can u tell me how to change it to blue one???
The first two have definitely been mentioned on the discord server. As for the 3rd, there’s gonna be a cap on devotion eventually, so I’d wager those points will be used eventually. Bear in mind each update adds more scenes, and most of those scenes are then available at the start of the game, besides mantic/crew specific ones.

As someone else stated, the new quest is in the Kraken nebula, not Hydra. It’s the blue one in the lower middle part of the map.

Only out of curiosity, not because of supporting or hating, and in no way is this question a shot at you or anyone else, but were you one of those aggressive supporters back in the days of Patreon or ever?

Frankly I was a bit of a dolt in the early days. I'd often tick DC off by asking for things that'd take more work, like asking for the first part of Bioshag to have a colored option xD, or by always bringing up the oopsie of the ending of the 2B/alien scene in Nier: First Assembly. Or questioning the last part of Nightmare Code Valentine being a pure loud music scene. Or why Jill's clothes were immediately removed in the Nemesis scene (simple answer: clothing physics are a bitch in SFM). Kinda like how a lot of folk here think their solutions can be done simple and quickly :p

But I eventually became more chill, as I gradually learned just how much effort these films took to make, especially in an aging and unsupported program like SFM.

Not sure how to progress at this point. I've finished Killi's quest and have defeated Huntress's ship. a link to my quest log. There are no other quests or prompts that seem to be available to me.

Even if the animations are made in UE, FoW has enough experienced animators to figure it out, especially after the number of years that have passed. There are no excuses for lazy work, unless it's due again to DC's piss-poor decision making.

And no, I was never in their Discord. I cut ties when I grew fed up with DarkCrow's abusive bullshit.

Thanks for being honest. I appreciate that.

Have they started implementing the sex scenes during gameplay or is it still mainly the Pandora bs?

At this point, after finishing Taron's update, I'm convinced that it's best to drop the game until it's finished, whenever that could be.

It is simply broken on the concept level, they literally sat down and decided to make visual novel style of game with shmup/grid combat integrated into the narrative and at the same time decided to hide it's main selling point - sex - behind separate menu with no narrative. They are trying to do something to fix that (Ela's porn scene/Taron's ship scene), but it's like a drop in the ocean.

Who knows what this game will look like in a few years, but right now it looks painfully mediocre and boring. Adding more mediocre stuff to the pile each update is not gonna change that. See ya on the other side if it's eventually completed.

This game "goes along with a fap" pretty much as well as rewarding yourself with a video from pornhub every time you beat a level in a regular SFW game.

I don't think that's ever going to happen, thing's fundamentally fucked.
