at the same time who are you to say what’s there hasn’t made their fans happy? Every day on discord you can see people listing their favorite girl and reason, the fan art channel is filled with commissioned works, and every night a small group pray for scenes they hope to see, one of whom got their wish in the Sova scenes added.

with the amount of fetishes within the game, it’s obviously gonna be very subjective. But to say an adult game that reached number 2 in sales during it’s launch is a failure is just ridiculous.

Success is relative, given the initial reception, this game had the kind of start most devs could only dream of and they dropped the ball hard. If someone like Dr Pinkcake or NLT had been behind the wheel of making game after that kind of start, it likely would have been a huge boon for the adult gaming scene. If Subverse was actually popular with its customers, a lot more of them would be fans.

But the Sova scenes this patch look noticeably better than previous ones. It’s not the overhaul we were told we’re getting, but I’m not expecting the system to be changed drastically within one or two updates. If I had to guess, it likely won’t happen until all the planned scenes are in the game.

The game sucks because is a boring grind with shitty gameplay that rewards you with glorified GIFs that somehow manage to be 30 GB (and growing!). But hey, at least the GIFs are decent even if they are short, and the MEGA folder brings the superior Pandora experience!

Bruh, I've never played the gameplay part of this game since the start. I just download it and find a completed save file and enjoy the pandora scenes. Also, the "gifs" are full 3D scenes and if you have access to the Unreal Engine Unlocker, you can choose which angles you like. You can just view all the story cutscenes anyway at your room.

That's why I don't complain about the "grind" because it's not worth it and if you can cheat to get the scenes, do it.

They are trying to improve it. In one scene from the last patch, you can fully rotate the camera around the scene and interact with her (touch her) to get reactions.

Honeslty, when poeple talk about bad game play or whatever, I just have to know what the hell they are smoking. They have to be people jumping on a hate-wagon.

Compared with 90% of the games on here, this is a gem. It's one of a few games I would call AAA, mainstream quality that actually has real game content. Nothing against Illusion - but 1/2 their games have zero actual gameplay.
The 3d sex is above most of the games here. The ship combat is fun and the running commentary keeps you immersed. The ground battles are acceptably fun and I like it because it gives the game depth it wouldn't have otherwise. The space combat would get old fast in a game that is going to be this long.
They are trying new things with the ship combat, mazes and puzzles and gathering features.

But you know, the game sucks because some people aren't getting EXACTLY what they want.

I've been a gamer for 40 years (21 years of hgaming) -and I love playing this game and love what they are doing and it has quality in it that most of the shit here doesn't have (I bought it on Steam for the record). But you know, let's be overly entitled and call it crap and then wonder why we don't see more large efforts like this while we go and download another non-animation VN and 5 star it because it has loli content.

Ehhh... Idk about that. While I agree the people saying "the game play sucks" are wrong. The game play is pretty decent and engaging. The big issue with the game is it's supposed to be a smut game, or more sex focused game which is what it was sold to be. While the game play is nice, it's nothing I can't get from other much better games with the same game play. And as an adult game, it's severely lacking. While I'm happy to hear that they have made some improvements to how you interact with the girls, it sounds like they still have a ways to go. I would much rather play an Illusion game like koikatsu than this if I want an adult experience where I can actually get to know the girls over time then have sex with them in multiple ways. (Or play moded Skyrim). And if I want to play a turn based strategy game, I'll stick with battletech or xcom.

I mean, heaven forbit we judge a game based on it being, you know, a game. There are games on here with bad 3d, even worse animation, buggy to hell, bad writing, and they get 4.5 stars just for catering to a fetish. Then we get a AAA effort at gameplay, long-form story, full voice acted, low level of bugs, WAY above average 3d sex animation, and we 2.5 star it cause it's doesn't have extreme kinks?

If you judge this game just by its game aspects it's a very poor experience. Most of the people playing this game aren't playing it for its story because it's so stereotypically edgy so what about the gameplay? It's really fucking repetitive and tedious. This game is mostly advertised as an adult game - 'Welcome to a new era in adult entertainment!' - this is from their steam page yet it does the adult part super poorly. Sure the animations are fucking great but being a product of StudioFOW you wouldn't expect anything less. The thing is that they have absolutely nothing to do with the game itself. It has great visual art, voice acting, etc. but all of these can be obtained with a big budget like theirs. In any game the gameplay and the UX matter the most, graphics aren't even part of the core. Just take a look at minecraft's graphics and its success.

Like I said, I am going off its first release because I still haven't played any of the new stuff, but you're right. We get to know them a little, but there was hardly a romantic path or sexual way to get to know them. I guess what I'm getting at is that the characters are well written with all kinds of lore and stuff that you will find out about them, but there is little in the way of getting to interact with them as the MC and see your relationship improve over time. Don't get me wrong, the writing in this game is A+ with the characters, just does little to add to the more smutty parts of the game. I know there was that small mini game where you tried to give them gifts and level their relationship with you, but I remember that leading to nothing at the time and was pretty pointless outside of just unlocking some vids. Plus the videos themselves were just short static clips, and only 30% of the vids were with the girls and the MC. Not ideal for a character-driven smut game like this. Do you know what I'm saying? Like if you're going to just do some basic porn clips as your reward for spending time with the girls, then you need to have something to back those clips up to make them more enjoyable and they should be with her and the MC, and the best thing for that is to build a meaningful relationship with that character. And you can't really do that with a few silly gift-giving mini-games.

I still haven't played the new stuff yet, so maybe they added a better system where you get more one-on-one time with the girls and better ways to interact with them.

thats been heard a fair bit, and the dating/gift system is also being reworked.

The basic porn is more or less what Pandora is, the things the crew is doing during the weeks/months of time that passes during the story. While that’s more care free, the personal love will come during the devotion quests, a more focused questline for each girl, which’ll culminate in a lengthier lovemaking scene.

If ya were following the story it was pretty apparent Sova was next, given that Fortune was telling the Captain to ‘recruit the final team member’. Meaning she isn’t considering showing up in person.

But now given her assistance to us during the last boss fight and Maeyamodo’s suspicions of a master hacker helping us, it’s likely they’ll be going after her, and we’ll need to bail her 7/10 ass out

By definition no, there's been enough back and forth on this place about personal versions of it. No girl is stolen from you.

Everything is polished AF! They obviously paid for a very nice game and good voice actors and all the bells and whistles. I just couldn’t get into it because of the awful dialogue and humor. Like ppl said before, if we want to play this type of game, it’s better to just play x-com.

Why not create sex animations within the combat instead of separating it completely. Like what modders are trying to do to regular games. Make kind of like… an ADULT GAME?

Things like sex in combat is usually tied to bad endings in other games, so that wouldn't really fit in this game. Nevermind that the enemy is trying to kill our team, so...not really time for that.
