Not a full game but there are/were EA games that had very little at first, but what was there was fun and engaging that kept players engaged. It's not about putting as much as you can in EA, but its about taking concepts and ideas and doing something unique and different with them to help your product stand out.Yeah you still can't compare a full game to an early access one though.
Frankly none really come to mind. most games I remember are just VN's. Animation-wise there's good ones like Umemaro, Ebimaru-do, or Atelier KOB, but their releases are very long periods of waiting inbetween, as they're very small teams (or in umemaro's case a single person).Just wondering, but what's an "high budget" japanese porn game ?
I know we don't have any information about that, but which game come to your mind first when I say "high budget japanese porn game" ?
Yeah I don't think Subverse had any problems standing out xD. As for keeping players engaged, yeah they're working on that. There's been plenty of requests for either replaying missions or bringing on the endless mode from the beta testing. Just have to wait and see.Not a full game but there are/were EA games that had very little at first, but what was there was fun and engaging that kept players engaged. It was listed in the KS what gameplay they had in mind. And the beta gameplay was uploaded by a few youtubers as well, as it wasn't under any NDA's.There's an alternative perspective on this though, why didn't we have access to some gameplay and system prototypes before the fundraiser? Backers didn't have any idea of what they were getting two years ago.
Uh, they haven't said they will change it either, so why expect it?Just wait the next patch.
People will explode when they realize it won't change the Pandora system.![]()
It's not "Nancy Cartwright" and "Hank Azaria" cost level we deal with here you know.Well, I mean the majority of the budget went to hiring professional voice actors. What was left over was only enough to cover cheap animation which explains the loops.
Yeah, I know the gimmick it's a high qauilty porn game but agimmick only gets you so far. Standing out meant doing something unique and different to whatever genre lol.Yeah I don't think Subverse had any problems standing out xD. Tis a joke. It's not "Nancy Cartwright" and "Hank Azaria" cost level we deal with here you know.
Some quote I found doing a quick google.... how accurate it is, idk..
" Pro studios might offer between $200-300 per hour for a 1-2 hour minimum session, and it's not unreasonable to expect to be paid between $500-$700 as a main character in a fully voiced, full length visual novel. At the indie scale, per line or even per word is the most common break down. "
That is your opinion, or you got facts to support it?Yeah, I know the gimmick it's a high qauilty porn game but agimmick only gets you so far. Standing out meant doing something unique and different to whatever genre lol.

That sound an awful lot like Pandora.....2 years ago, and yet so many screeching about us getting exactly what they wrote we'd getView attachment 1131658
I kno right? It's almost like the information was publicly available, yet everyone else just dug into hyping it up as Mass Effect: XXX Edition. That sound an awful lot like Pandora.....![]()
Well the space exploration system seems almost like a clone of the one from Mass Effect, so that hold true. If people expected a "entire" clone of the game, well that would be on them.I kno right? Even though the only part that mentioned Mass Effect were the comparison of the devotion/loyalty missions. And this bit from the FAQ's 2 years ago.

Subverse was supposed to release over a year ago as a completed game. They're only "not comparable" because Subverse already failed to live up to their standard. They failed, this is the backup plan to not be buried by failing the terms of the kickstarter. So then you can't even compare the two. Even more of a point actually. Shoulda done more homework.
Did they lie if it's not implemented in the game yet but will be? You know it's early access right? It's like just about any game on this site when it came in 0.1 version and the creator said it will be x, y & z.... By your standards you should jump on all of them and accuse them of lying? You rage on the game as it was a full release. You have no idea how it will be when done, nor does any of us really.Subverse was supposed to release over a year ago as a completed game. And "but it was always going to be a shovelware indie shmup game" isn't changing the fact they led people to believe by statements like "An unholy mixture of... tactical rpgs... and a sprinkle of eroge goodness" that "offering you lewd rewards when you actually win! The better you perform in combat, the more you explore, and the more you talk to your waifus -- the better your rewards get!" that this was going to be a companion focused, evolving dialogue, linear sandbox game.
They didn't meet this stated goal. Right here. Talking to your waifus does nothing. There is no relationship-companion system. They lied. The rest they "technically" can claim is just the shittiest, laziest version of the systems they hyped but not here. This is just a fucking lie.
You're like 0/15 here man, stay down. Your are if anything actively costing StudioFOW money with your shilling. If the game miraculously became what was promised in a from behind open skies redemption arc people are going to remember the name VValen and close their wallets.
This is a mechanics complete version of the game. Only material change will be adding (or removing) the additional upgrade layers to the ship as those are gated by a combat progression curve and putting more shit in the scene gallery. You've seen the whole game. And they can't go change it because of Voicework. There is no future where there is a rebuild rewrite of this game without nixing or rerecording the lions share of the voiceacting.Did they lie if it's not implemented in the game yet but will be?
If you don't know what "linear sandbox" is as a game design term this conversation might not be your speed.Uh... linear sandbox game? How does that exactly work out when they stated game would include "Mass Effect like exploration".
