Yeah, but no one need to redeem themselves over a 0.1 early access release. Its when you have the full result you can start swing that hammer around if everything is a total disaster.

There is many games out there that started out on kickstarter and progressed to early access on steam. Heck, you have games on this site, funded through Patreon that also end up on early access on steam. Or/And games that got funded by patreon that end up on steam at a fraction of the cost of what someone have pledged to the creator. Should these creators get crucified over MILKING it? How dare they right?
Whoa chap! CHILL. THE FVCK. DOWN. You are implying stuff i didn't wrote, turning my replies inside out. Stop reacting like a menstruating teenager. Want to defend them feel free, want to attack them... suit yourself. You don't have to convince people here, 'cuz the majority really don't care. That energy you could use for more useful activities.

Well no surprise, author of that post cant even tell that subverse is not a rpg.

"What defines an RPG game?
Role-playing video game, electronic game genre in which players advance through a story quest, and often many side quests, for which their character or party of characters gain experience that improves various attributes and abilities."

check, check, and check?

So you say there is no over arching story? There was no primary mission, and side missions? Characters didn't gain experience, and you didn't unlock anything at all?

You just had fun in pandora didn't you?

an RPG isn't necessary Skyrim, Fallout, Dungeons & Dragons etc, there is several genre's of.

Oh and if you go to Steam and check the store page for like "Tomb Raider, and Rise of the tomb raider", then click on the + at the line with the tags, you will see RPG show up along with other tags for the game.. :ROFLMAO:

I'll do my best to address thine concerns:

"The tide of fanboys who have to personally apologize for every post that is short of praising the ground the devs walk upon while assuring them that they can take all the time in the world for their updates"

Us explaining that game development takes awhile is not being an apologist, nor does it make us fanboys. Game development is hard. That's just a fact. And having a 'fortune', which by AAA standards isn't much, doesn't mean that much when its going right back into hiring devs and working on the game.

"Not a peep from them for two weeks. That kind of silence is odd if nothing else."

From their November diary, last year:

- Dev diaries are going to switch to a once-a-month format since we are going to be focusing heavily on development from here forward.

Their last update was as you said 2 weeks ago:

Meaning their one monthly update has been done. If there isn't a peep from them its cuz...well it should obvious. They're working on the game. Bear in mind they are a small team, there's no marketing department, no public figure to constantly talk to us. Staff only rarely appear in the discord, and its very brief when they do.

I understand the fear and frustration of projects that linger forever or just leech money, but there's two reasons why Subverse isn't gonna be that. A) its not on Patreon, so there's no monthly income. There's also no additional way to support the game's development at this point other than buying it. So they're working with what they got unlike say Star Citizen, which took in tons more money after its backing, leading to endless feature creep.

And B), and this is really the bigger point. FOW, in all their years of making smut, has never failed to deliver a project once its been revealed. Even a lawsuit from Blizzard did not stop them from releasing Coliseum of Lust. They'll do what they say they'll do, because they've already established that reputation.
Look I don't want to start exchanging longass posts so I'm just gonna point out a few obvious issues I have with the development of this game, which by the way, I didn't play much cause I like it quite a lot and I want to play it start to end.

The usual excuse I hear is that they are a small team. If that's true, then why take on a project this large? That's a recipe for failure and if the devs are deluded the fans don't need to be.

The game is not free, you have to pay for it (which I'll gladly pay for full price, just not on Steam cause I can't have smut on my steam account), so considering people are buying an unfinished product the least they could do is post a generic roadmap instead of monetary goalposts.

And yeah, all work is hard. I'm not sure why you people always think that people who bring up these issues don't actually understand that. But if work is being done there's something to show for.

Also I'm not trying to shit on them, as I've said, I'm pointing out how it looks from where I'm standing and this isn't looking too great. But make no mistake I want this game to come out and be as good as they say even better.

They did start to hire new people with the early access though. Expanding their team. It's their fist game and as with any game studio out there that embark on their first game. There is growing pains and expectations doesn't always end up match reality.

With early access there is no new monetary goalposts. There is only development until the game is done. They already stated why they don't release any roadmap. Gaming industry is full of examples in regard of why dated roadmaps suck ass. You just end up damned if you do or damned if you don't. Have a delay and people will fall on you like a brick house.

You probably end up get shunned for just saying you like the game a lot by some people around here though :ROFLMAO:

I'm no doubt regurgitating things that have already been said, but they raised almost $2 million. And consequently, how long has it taken them to get to this stage? It does sound like they entered it with some vague idea of what they wanted to do and have been winging it a bit. Not saying they're going to be as bad as Eromancer but if I was a backer, I'd be concerned.

From their Kickstarter page: Estimated delivery June 2019. And, TBH, the screenshots we have here (in the middle of downloading) don't look all that different to the screenshots/videos from 2+ years ago.

Yes, game development is hard. I've started and failed to complete so many projects (I'm no artist so I let my lack of art skills discourage me) that I've decided to work on eSports plugins and online services for Unity instead. Having said that, if I had $2million, either I'd emigrate to Russia with a suitcase full of cash, or I'd pay some freelancers to help me finish the project. If they've gone the full-time studio route then chances are that $2million is already gone, which is why they're now offering it on Steam early access.

But the game is good in my opinion. I'm not too crazy about porn games trying too hard have a good gameplay, but I do like it. The voice acting is great and so is the puerile humor, the characters are great too, in the same puerile way . The sex scenes are shit however. I hope they are work in progress.

There are no more monetary goalposts cause all of them were met during their kickstarter and thensome, to say the least.

Now that those goals were met they could, at least, post a generic roadmap, so it wouldn't stress them out too much, since that seems to be the go-to excuse these days, which is actually really messed up since people sent you money, you got a fortune, not only what you asked for but much, MUCH more and you tell people you won't give them even a generic idea of what you plan to do for the near future to develop a game they funded more generously that you expected. I've had projects in Africa, the laziness there is staggering, I used to hear the same stuff from the construction workers there, that is too stressful to give me a generic date for the completion of construction stages.

Anyway, I've said my bit. I REALLY hope I'm wrong, but I'm usually not.
