I think this is where the discussion just keeps looping.

Rape or mind-control scenes don’t automatically make something NTR. Netorare is specifically about losing someone to another person with the whole jealousy/humiliation angle. That’s not really how those scenes are framed in Subverse.

Also, having a romance path doesn’t mean “locked monogamy by default”. The game is pretty upfront that the relationships are non-exclusive and more poly/open, not “she got stolen from the MC”.

If this forum wants to use “NTR” as a super broad label for any non-exclusive romance, that’s fine as a tagging choice but that doesn’t suddenly make it netorare by actual genre or JP definitions.

At that point, it’s less about Subverse itself and more about how loose the tag is being used here.
I mean, that's why I think the form should change tags or add more. After all, there are cultural differences, some places just simply don't take polyamory as a normal thing.

But in JP, Netorare doesn't simply refer to being stolen, it also encompasses situations like rape, unwillingly, unknowing, etc. IE: Like many Netorare JRPG if lose the battle, your mates/romance will get raped and such. You are not there to witness.
It's not jealousy/humiliation or stealing, but simply a rape scene, which is still marked as netorare. I feel the term NTR is quite different here.

Also there is a J game where you run a brothel, but if a client is particularly skilled, your girls will have a netorare debuff. However, there's no stealing or jealousy involved. I don't even feel there is romance between you and those girls who are selling. But J-devs still mark it as a netorare.

Like the term "cuckold" can refer to cheating (netorare), but also it can refer to a situation where it happens willingly (humiliation netorase). Swinging/sharing is also considered as netorase. But the word 寝取らせ (netorase) is translated to cuckolding.

They need more tags to describe the situation more specifically. Like polyamory, sharing, swinging, cuckolding is something a lot of posts lack. Also the game itself is using the word NTR. Things were already a mess, and now they're even worse.

like I said before the tag is only there because people in this forum kept saying it should be added, because they took waifu to be literal when it’s just a joke like most of the terms in the game (you buy the scenes with PP, like cmon it’s not that deep).

But the mods aren’t likely to change it at this point it’s existed for 5 years now.

Using your hard-earned points to watch your girls getting bred.

Sure, I mean, everyone has their kinks.

Since all discussions seem to be going in circles, I think I should just leave it at that. Perhaps in the future, we can hope for more precise tags?

Wishing all gentlemen a pleasant day!
