Hello, everyone!

As of this week, Npx is no longer with us... because he's in a better place. That is to say, he's gone on a trip! He'll be returning on Thursday, and meanwhile the rendering rig will be churning out animation frames all alone.

Despite that little distraction, we continued working on post-processing, coding, SFX and some extra work on the scenes. One previous scene was revisited for better clothing fits and some custom texture edits. There was plenty of posing with the girls too, and we started hitting the VRAM limits again... at last. Slightly unexpected, but it was inevitable. Good reminder not to be too ambitious with the scenes and renders. Back in the earlier updates we had to pull all sorts of trickery to avoid hitting the memory limits, but we managed to get by.

A long overdue rework on Patreon and Itch was started, and that's something we'll be focusing on more in the weeks leading up to 0.6. The survey for 0.5 is now also closed, and there were exactly 500 replies! We've been reading the responses as they come in and we'll still go over them once more to make sure no comments get missed. A massive thank you to everyone who participated and left comments and critique. We appreciate it!

I have been thinking recently about how the devs said that the last chapter was one of the bigger updates that they would do and that this chapter would be more like chapter 4 (in size). However, if they are telling the truth about it being "smaller", this update is taking just as long/maybe longer than the previous update (which was there biggest one). I'm trying to gauge what would be the issue for the longer lead times.

If this update is taking a little bit longer because we get action from all of the girls and they are having issues due to making content for all of them, then so be it. Maybe the update in equipment and over time, learning better processes for efficiency, will help the project in the long run.

The previous update was great but I wouldn't have necessarily called it a "huge" update with a ton of content. I just want to know if the longer lead times are going to translate into the chapters being packed with content going forward.

This is not the case, this update isn't taking "as long/maybe longer" than ch05.
CH04 released on patreon on 2022-11-10 , ch05 released 2023-10-13 , that's 11 months, so far its been 5 months since CH05. And while we dont have a set release date yet, if we are going off the prediction of the user you were replying to, at most it would be 7 months dev cycle for this update.

Don't worry it's not a rework for the game, I think it's for the Patreon page. For example, one of the tiers was removed recently, but I don't know what other changes they have planned.

Unknown still, I personally hate estimations or guessing dates before most of the work is done and rendered.

Nah, that's more than fair. The last one was a banger so I know I won't be disappointed either way. I just thought it'd be fun to hear other people's opinions while we pass the time, that's all. Wasn't trying to start a betting pool for the release dates of VNs at all, I swear.

Jokes aside, I'm kind of new to this one and this isn't one that I've been lurking on from before.
What are the general update cycles like here? Every half a year or so?

The dev cycles for this game have been kind of interesting. They started off shorter than usual but as the devs received feedback (complaints) about how short the updates felt, they gradually learned through trial and error on what works and what doesn't while improving each time. So there really hasn't been an established pattern yet from what I recall.

The last one took a while. Can't remember exactly but I think longer than 6 months. Not sure about this one but if it's going to be like the last update, it'll be worth the wait. Honestly can't say that about many VNs these days but I'm just too lazy to change my signature so yea.

Also, I'm just finding less and less time to play anything these days. It's at the point where my "updates I'm waiting for" list is like 2 or 3 things while my backlog is just ... So it sounds bad, but I'm kind of ambivalent at this point. As soon as I get a lot of time, I'll have a whole mountain of stuff anyway.
