adding animations to every adult visual novel is a bad habit that should be broken. No animations at all are better than bad animations, that look out of place. If an artist doesn't know how to animate and adds bad animations just to get an extra "eye catching" tag in the game's description, it's a cheap trick. Maybe i'm a bit harsh and such a trick helps make the game more popular, but from an artistic point of view, it clearly spoils the project.
it's like a big budget movie that didn't have enough money and time for some extra scenes and they were put together by newcomers on short notice. The whole movie goes well, but when it comes to these extra scenes, they look horribly out of place.
collaboration with a professional animator makes completely different level of production. The Seven Realms (ren'py game), good example. I don't think the animations in this game are perfect (compared to all world of 3d animations), but compared to other adult games, it's god-level and good example for other devs.
I wish Summer Heat finds the right path. Such beautiful girls deserve good animations.

I take the opposite stance. Animations aren't needed in visual novels.
Consider what happened when filmmakers tried to move from 24 fps to 48 fps (or high frame rate). The result was catastrophic because the art of filmmaking is not just what you see but what you don't see that helps sustain the magic of disbelief. Capturing too much detail removes the fantastical veneer needed to create a fictional world. Less is more - the reader/viewer SHOULD do a lot of the work (internally) to make the world feel real. Devs that try to spoon feed everything with ultra-high resolutions, high frame rates, etc. are doing themselves no favors in this regard. Same with animations - provide adequate numbers of stills and the reader can fill in the blanks, often far better than any animation could hope to attain.
So, I vote NO for animations in AVN. Remove them all and simply give us more renders and more story.
