We included it (naming save files) as a feature, but disabled from being on as default.
Edit: We assumed there was no need to name save pages when you could rename save files, so we disabled that. Can bring it back for future versions.
I'm not saying either one (naming saves or disabling save pages) was extraordinarily complex coding or time-consuming to implement, but typically for games with several women's paths, I do a playthrough for each LI (or, at least each one that interests me). Since Ren'Py comes
by default with the ability to rename those, the reasoning for disabling it seems odd.
As of right now, so I can keep track of what page has what girl's path, I thought about using something like a text file that I keep extra in the
Summer Heat parent folder, but that's an extra thing that I might not remember to do the next time a version of this is released. So instead, I've turned on the named-saves feature and named
every single save as something like, "(Bree Path)". Of course, that completely eliminates the utility of having named saves in the first place.
Also, on the subject of named saves, might I suggest a slight adjustment to the layout of those? Have the time-and-date stamp on one line and the name of the save on a line below that, and then increase the length of the name of the saves. Right now, it's pretty limited, so something like "Meeting Bree at the lake" wouldn't even fit.
I'll manage either way, but it does seem like some odd design decisions for something that was true out-of-the-box (naming save pages) and an optional feature (naming saves but with little space to do so). Just my 2¢ / 2p.
