You might be waiting a while—the whole Steve/Mat storyline seems to have been dropped. As far as I know, there aren’t any plans for them at the moment, unless the devs have had a change of heart. But for now, I wouldn’t hold your breath.
My understanding is that he is only committed to doing Fabien and then the other two main routes.
Also I am assuming that the existing content with Steve will be enough to suspend the game from itch. It thankfully did not have the tag already so it wasn't yet.

I dunno man, at this point I've lost a lot of interest for this. The whole project has been, I won't say a mess more like.. squiggly. There is no clear direction of the plot, too many characters that the dev ended up cutting their romance paths to focus on a favorite or two.
It succumbed to the classic vn indie dev struggle, great, interesting start, then slowly losing steam as the dev time goes, switching priority from progression to uncapped side content(more love interests) then scrambling to finish it by cutting corners here and there by lopping off many romance routes.

Very much so. If anything, I could see the dev going back and editing it out completely—or maybe releasing a patch on a different platform that brings that aspect back into the game somehow. The dev already confirmed that Fabien will be the first to get a finished route since that’s the canon ending.
It’s old news by now, but there was also confirmation that Steve/Mat won’t be a thing—unless it ends up as a side story, which apparently isn’t canon to the main game, just a “what could’ve happened” type of deal.

We need vacation from summer vacation
I am not sure, the dev took a sabbatical to continue working on the game (a couple of month), he took the time from his regular work, so I guess he's really involved in it and see all the work that should be done. And he's nice to speak with btw.
So sad to hear that about Uncle Steve but there is still a chance, however small... maybe?. I’m a big fan of side stories. If possible, I’d really love it if the person who comes across Steve late at night was Mat instead. It would also be great to have a follow-up scene where Steve said he wanna teach Mat something, as he promised. And Yes, I feel the same. The summer vibe just isn’t there anymore.
