Is there still no anal sex? I won't even do a game if there is only oral and teasing lol. Which is hopefully what most people do. Can't support money milkers or they will continue to milk you

meh update but I'd kill for more Tim scenes.
That being said, the pacing of this VN is terrible for me. Like, 15 screens of inner monologue or terrible facial animations.
CTRLand skip everything is a necessity at this point

It feels like the dev decided to change the concept or storyline halfway through writing the game. The first half feels inconsistent with the latter half, and with only two updates left before we get the canonical ending — which,

— it’s starting to show. We still don't know what really happened between Steve and Carlos, and the side story is treated like a “what if” scenario. The dev mentioned that players can interpret their own path, but that kind of feels like a copout. The build-up between Steve and Mat also seems to have gone nowhere, and although the dev said it could be explored in a future side story, there are no promises and still be treated as a "what if". I don’t think Tim is getting a route at all, even though it seems like Peter might be? This game had so much potential, but honestly, it’s starting to feel like a letdown. No offense or disrespect to the dev — it’s his project, and he has the right to tell the story however he wants — but I feel like a lot of the things that originally drew me in have been dropped. We still haven’t even gotten a proper sex scene that isn’t a fantasy. The whole idea of a summer vacation was supposed to be about Mat loosening up and exploring his sexuality, but he really hasn’t, aside from a bit of foreplay here and there before going off to college. And the professor storyline seems to not be going anywhere either.

It feels like the dev is just pooped and doesn't want to make the game, anymore. The last several updates have been very lackluster and sometimes downright boring compared to the first half of the game.

People should write the stories they want to write, but at some point, I think the author became really inspired by a different m/m visual novel that took a similar dive from being something erotic to more character focused.

I personally, was disappointed by the shift. I knew this really wasn't for me anymore when the author released a PG-13 version of the VN. Still, it fills a niche and I know there are plenty of people who enjoy adult VNs that tilt so far towards story and character development.

A good example that does both to an almost perfect mix for me is Bound by Night, which has both a good amount of erotic content and a good amount of character development in every update.

I totally agree — and no hate to the dev for any of it. He’s the one putting in the time and effort to make the game, and I respect that. But at the same time, it’s just not what I originally signed up for. It’s like ordering a beef burger and getting a vegan one instead — it might still be good, but it’s not what I was ordered. I know quite a few people who supported and followed the project from the beginning feel the same way.

I kept holding onto hope that maybe the shift was just temporary — that the college stuff would be brief interludes, and we’d spend breaks with Steve, Carlos, Fabien, and the rest of the character. But over time, it became very college character-driven and story-focused, with shorter, less impactful updates. Eventually, I lost track of them altogether and only checked in when I remembered. The VN isn’t bad by any means, but it’s lost a lot of the consistency and original premise that made it so appealing. I also understand the dev went through some things, and that could’ve changed his outlook on the project. Still, even with the different routes, it’s clear that Fabien is being positioned as the “true” ending, which kind of undermines the idea of letting players choose their own path.

That’s why I love Bound by Night — for the exact reason you mentioned. I don’t need constant smut in a VN. I do like character development and a strong story with erotic mixed in perfectly. Their updates don’t feel rushed or short, and they clearly have a game plan. And if something changes, they actually go back to revise earlier parts to keep things consistent.

I purposedly turned down Fabien and the game got a side ending prompting me to go back to my previous choices so you're absolutely right.
Shame for Tim, he's exactly my type

I think the dev mentioned that Fabien, Carlos, Jin, and Peter are the only confirmed routes for now — unless he changed his mind last minute. I do remember him considering Tim at one point, but he also said that if Tim ever got a route, it would be on the backburner since his focus is on the main three. Though, realistically, it's really just Fabien at this point. Like you said, the game is built so heavily around him and Mat that it kind of forces you into choosing him — there’s really no escaping it.

I wouldn't hold out hope though. The dev teased more content with Steve at one point too, but here we are. He's confirmed multiple times now that nothing will come from Steve, which makes it even more confusing why he was introduced and given so much character development — just to be pushed into the background. It honestly feels like a waste of potential. Peter is getting similar treatment as the closeted bully but i don't know. I'm not seeing much development from him either. His route seems so forced too.

Have to agree with all that's been said here. This game had so much potential in the beginning but was squandered pretty quickly. Once they moved past the whole summer vacation (literally the game's name) and into college it began to go downhill. The game's tone has been very schizophrenic for a long time
