Imagine having two children... One, always exceeding expectations, high grades, and the promise to visit an Elite-University one day.

The second child is much slower, there are many children that outclass it and it needs some sort of special care.
It's being treated like an outcast by some people, etc.

And now people come to you and say "Get rid of Child 2 to fully focus on Child 1. It has more promise anyways."

These games aren't just ways to make a living and some pretty art here and there... I care about them and it doesn't matter if WiAB's a financially dead end.

Its development speed and quality of assets might be affected by it. But I'll never abandon said "Child."

And if people don't want to support or play the games because of it that's totally fine.
Don't get me wrong, I understand what you mean and maybe I have expressed myself badly for being so brief.

What I mean is that wanting to cover 2 projects at the same time is counterproductive, nobody is saying that you don't have 2 projects, just that at the same time you are having a negative result, you restarted WIAB and started SG, maybe you should have simply finished WIAB first before starting SG, or continue with SG and postpone WIAB.

Or maybe this is all nonsense and as soon as SG has sex scenes it will get much more support, you can buy more equipment and advance the development times of the chapters, but something tells me that's unlikely.

To me SG seems to me the Renpy with more potential of all F95, and I tell you sincerely, writing you have a gift, but you are weighing down the speed of development and that generates abandonment by the patreons, which in the end weighs more investment of money and time in development and becomes the fish that bites the tail, every time you are more and more demanding with yourself, the chapters will be more and more complex because of the decisions of previous chapters, and you are in 2 projects at the same time, it will become unsustainable and what scares me is that because of that you end up abandoning the games and leaving us halfway like other developers do.

Well to be honest I think I do remember playing the first release 3 years ago and being very disturbed with it. I recall a scene where you point and fire a gun at a school teacher not knowing there are blanks in it while a pedestrian bleeds out and then you see said teacher the next day and nobody seemed to care there was an attempted murder by a student.

I merely came here to verify that in the 3 years since not a single adult scene took place. I mean come on. 3 fricking years of development? I mean the MC is obviously a sociopath from what that first release showed and he couldn't get any action in all that time? Not one drunken hookup? Not one time he could manipulate at least some girl?

Maybe I'm just jaded by the numerous devs who know what we are "really" here for and once the LI dominos start falling one by one the support starts to go by the wayside when the story starts to wind down. Maybe it really is as great now as you all seem to think, but from what I have seen years ago and the fact the story hasn't seemed to move forward much I'll just have to check back in 10-15 years and see if sex is indeed allowed in this devs little universe.

I'm out.

so many things are wrong with what you say lmao, the only examples of action from sex comes from either being drunken or manipulating them??? wut..

this game is slow burn, clearly you want games that are action from the start maybe some basic porn shit, so go watch that.. go download one of the 1000s of games that have that.. that would be the most logical thing to do right now..

you say about the numerous devs that know what WE want.. you dont know what we want clearly, you're here complaining about one of the best games and sound like you want it changed to YOUR needs.

you sound very very selfish right now, not all of the games here have to have characters fucking within a hour of gameplay, it doesnt mean they're not supposed to be here.. do yourself a favour and go download the games you like to play and stay away from the ones which you dont like. the devs are not making games for you alone, not everything in the world should be catered to you, the sooner you realise that the better.

you make sense that its harder to do 2 at once but i respect that he wouldnt just abandon one just because he might get more money, i love both of the games and clearly he treats them more than just a money making tool which i respect too. I think some devs like having 2 games to make because it helps them mentally being able to change it up and work on something completely different.

What makes you think the Basketball game in Chapter 3x5 was filler?

Let's recall some events that occurred there and might play a role again:

- The coaches, the first team, and others(?) saw MC play.
- The choice to meet up with Nia.
- The confrontation with Zara and Nadia.
- Some foreshadowing for at least three characters.
- Bilbo's side story introduction.

And there's much much more if we take the Warm-up before the game into account. (First real interaction with Sasha, Layla mentioning the yoga class, etc.)

And many people might see the TBT session as a filler.
All I'm saying is... Keep an eye open for the underlying issues and how they might affect a certain character. (Try to view a scene from the eyes of another character. Which can be tricky because the player is missing crucial info.)

My game is focused on long-term rewards. Not instant. (The difference between what you want now and what you really want.)

And a story about healing can't solely rely on "Relationships and girls".
It's about slowly building a secure fundament that even if MC and Girl X would break up, he wouldn't just fall back into the hole.
He's building a new life.

Please just keep in mind... There are tons of things already being foreshadowed that might sound like 'unnecessary' info but as soon as everything falls into place... You'll change your mind about some scenes being filler.

Who says that?
You have games where the introduction is 2min long and 10 minutes later you're balls deep in the "Landlady".

And there are games like mine, where the introduction takes a while because you've got to introduce stuff and add depth.
SG has left the introduction with Chapter 3.

Every dev should have the freedom to decide that for himself.
If the Intro is 15min, fine cool.
If it's 5 Chapters... Also cool, as long as the dev is aware of its cons.

And I'm aware that many people will stop following the game due to its length/size and current update cycle.

That's okay, I wish those guys/girls the best and maybe they'll find back when the game's in a much more advanced state.

I totally agree with this, though.

Quality > Quantity

But building character relationships, etc. is a way of driving the plot forward.

Just give it some time and you'll see how all those strings start connecting.
Oceanlab of course no one should abandon his less successful child, but more successful one should not be dragged down either.
I hope you're not a parent because that's not how parenting works. you don't see your child as dragging the other down just because he or she is less successful, if the one is deliberately dragging the other down sure but not just because he or she is less successful. I grew up with an older sister who was always the top student in her grade, meanwhile I always got bad to average scores. Of course this was entirely my fault because while my sister had her nose in her books never even leaving the house I was out partying with friends and chasing girls and my behavior reflected in my grades. I also became a father at 19, I was the fuck up and the less successful child.I accepted that, I did that to myself but I never influenced my sister, she did her thing I did mine. No one can say I dragged her down just because I was "less successful" or because I was a fuckup and my parents never saw me that way either,I was dragging myself down but not my sister. My parents never gave up on me, they were still there for me and helped me become successful. I'm 27 now I'm a graphic designer even started my own freelancing business with my sister's husband and my fiancé. I owe it to my parents for not giving up on me or seeing me as dragging others down, and without their support I probably would've still been a fuckup today. Their parenting taught me that no matter how much of a fuckup your child is never treat him or her differently than you'd treat your "successful" child because in end they're both your children and your love and support shouldn't be measured by how successful they are.

The comparison children vs. game is flawed to begin with, there is no reason to judge someone based on such a hastly conducted simile.

Beautiful BUT her scar needs a rework. She is amazingly beautiful and her scar symbolizes an underlining to her beauty.
nah...she is the most freakish character in the game, and that scar fits and underlines its perfectly.
one of only few lacking any real "appeal", apart from being falsely mysterious.
im sure the dev has plans with her, if nothing else as a mean for some additional drama, yet in my game she is just surplus.

Chapter 4 - Dev Log #13

Hello,

As always, 4k Res attached.

So, I'm around 2150 renders in... and pretty much almost done with the Tabletop session ~ 250 lines.
I started and finished one of the cinematics last week and also canceled one that I had planned in the TBT session (~30sec)
Same reason why I canceled a cinematic back in Chapter 3.5. As soon as too many characters are in the scene, it has to load in the materials, etc. for every single frame.
Under these circumstances, even a simple test render takes 3-4h. And it was a very complex cinematic. This would've taken way too long.

There's still a small part of another TBT cinematic left... and then an end cinematic. Certainly doable.

But the worst part is yet to come... Doing brain-melting postwork on 2200+ renders. I'm so not looking forward to that.

Another problem I'm currently facing, one of the music artists I've been working with hasn't responded in like a month. Haven't heard anything from him.
That's a problem for the Steam release with Chapter 5... As I have to give proof of license and I contacted the artist back in 2019 over Social Media, which I deleted back in 2020.
I've also contacted ArtList and they told me the minimum price for their subscription would be 10000$, which I would've paid for full access and covering... But even though I told them many times that the games will contain pornographic content, they kept pushing it down to "Simple nudity" is okay...
I didn't answer them any more.
Turns out all this music stuff is going to be a huge pain in the ass... But without the music, there's no cinematics.

2. Surface Animation
I bought a nice plugin that enables Daz Surface animations... That's a nice thingy.
I'll point it out when I use it in an animation.

3. Previews

SEE POST BELOW

Alright.
Stills will be done before the next Dev Log... Then three cinematics are left + Postwork.
I will start with Postwork when the animations for the cinematics are rendering.
Then I'll do some final polishing and the Beta will be released.
If it wasn't for the extensive TBT session, the update would've been out in Feb. But it was pretty fun working in a futuristic and eerie environment for a change.

I will soon start seriously learning new software... Which are Adobe After Effects and Premiere.
Daz is a big limit on what I can do with cinematics and animations in general... Being able to make up for that in AE and PR can elevate them to a new level.
As I also really want to implement real-life "Photo/Cinematography" into the games. (Cinematics, etc.)

I'm really looking forward to working on Chapter 4x5 and Chapter 5.
I'll see you in the next Dev Log and most likely the last one for Chapter 4.

So 1 month to the beta release?
Ya sounds like with the post-work he's talking about needing to do it's going to be a bit. I had hoped another 2-3 weeks max going off of previous logs but it's probably going to be closer to a month it sounds like.

Sad to hear on the music issues he's running into, hopefully he's able to find a solution. Music exponentially improves these types of games.
