They are siblings. They were always siblings. They will always be siblings.
They are blood related. They were always blood related. They will always be blood related.

Nothing about the story we've seen so far would make the least bit of sense if they weren't.

That said, the official stance is that they are "wards", adopted by the "landlady" because incest is...let's just say frowned upon.
Agreed

I play without the patch and it makes sense that they’re not blood related, Nika and Nami are orphans from different families who were adopted by Nojiko, who has seen them growing up together like siblings and would inevitably frown upon them getting in a relationship, hence Nika and Nami’s fears.
Now, I don’t know but I guess the incest version is the official one. That’s fine, everyone can play how they want. I personally don’t care about incest, it’s not a huge turnoff but the story works perfectly well without it, so I’ll keep playing like this for now until it doesn’t make sense anymore.
Fair. If it works for you have at it. I've said it before I would prefer if they weren't blood related. It would keep their sibling bond without delving into incest which does nothing for me.

Admittedly I've never played the game without the "evil modder" patch (that somehow always comes out when the update drops) but there are more than a few examples of why them not being related makes no sense. Off the top of my head, why would Nojiko be so concerned about a possible romantic bond between the MC and Nami? Why would the MC be so concerned about doing stuff with Nami in front of other people (the pre pizza sho conversation)?

Do these things not happen if you play without the patch? Do the Nojiko concerned renders not appear? Doesn't Vanessa make those weird remarks in the jacuzzi about what's societally acceptable or not? Does the conversation with Nami before grabbing the pizza's not happen?

They're still adoptive siblings without the patch. Like I sad Noji has raised them together since they were little, she can't fathom a relationship between the two of them. Everybody else would frown upon them cause they're still adoptive siblings. It wouldn't be as bad as if they were blood siblings, but it would still be considered inappropriate.
I would argue that it would work better if they weren't blood related. Everyone would accept their relationship more easily that way.

They're actually not adoptive siblings without the patch. Check for where it mentions adoption. It doesn't mention it once. They are just staying at Noji's house. There has to be a formal explanation, but we're not presented with one. Simplest one that avoids any terms being broken is Noji runs a foster home or house for troubled youths. Such things exist, but the game doesn't explicitly say. The official game allows you to fill the gaps with what your mind finds plausible.

Some people argue that Noji is their Biological mother because they really want that, despite it being massively implausible. The takeaway? Play with your own understanding. As long as it makes sense, it is your canon. The game has its official version of the script and it considers that issue unimportant to clarify. :coffee:

Nika says his parents died when he was 3, he doesn't mention the term "adoption" but it's heavily implied Nojiko adopted him and Nami.

That said I don't wanna play with "my canon", I wanna play the official version since it's the one that makes the most sense. If it's the one with the patch, then I will play that.
Admittedly the first time I played the game years ago I just wanted to jump straight into it. I certainly didn't know there was a patch that I needed to install at the time or for the matter even a couple of weeks ago, when I started checking the comment section instead of going straight to the download button like I used to.
As with everything, I'm willing to change my mind on the subject, I just need to learn more about it.

So I'm willing to install this patch.

The patch is unofficial, and goes against the terms of Ocean's EULA for steam at least.

The official version is ambiguity.

A couple of things. The patch doesn't change a single render, only text. The visual context is the same. That means that as shipped officially, the game has a complete set of renders, none of which are revealed by a patch. Ocean has shipped a complete game. An evil modder has exploited the ambiguity of Noji fostering them, and the ambiguity of both Nika and Nami's parents dying in similar circumstances. Nika as the narrative point doesn't explain much of his childhood and there are severe flaws in his recollection. The rest is up to your personal desire to live with ambiguity, or force it to fit something based on your preferences.

THere is no official support for patches from unknown sources. :coffee::whistle:

The game started with incest; you can even see the comments back from 2019 (very first page) that it had incest.

For those who want incest, you always have your mother in the next room. Or sister. Or brother. At least one of the relatives.
Well, considering it's been in the game from the start...

Of course, but what is officially released now is now what was then. Plenty of the original tags were removed as the game changed - and there also used to be Jeff's pp. I'm sure he still has one even though we don't get to see it anymore. I stand by the idea that the official version is what is released unpatched, purely as a technical, captain obvious style comment.

Ocean's EULA on steam also furthers the obvious technicality.

Personally I patched what I downloaded (thanks again for your tireless work). But in real terms, there is so little that actually changes in ameaningful way.

I want to play a game where the story makes sense.

No, they're roommates.
I'm okay with them being adoptive siblings. It makes perfect sense that they're conflicted about their relationship.
The problem is that adoptive siblings don't call each other roommates, they call themselves brother and sister.
I understand that they don't even call each other step-brother and step-sister because of Patreon rules.
But to say that their relationship works fine without the patch is simply incorrect.

By the way, this is the main reason why I don't think Nika is blood related to the Zanes. Imagine how this would affect the main plot and then try to organically replace it with something in the story without the patch because at least half of the LIs could be Nika's sisters.

Well, technically they've got their OWN rooms. So they're not roommates either. Housemates? Does that bend porn logic too far? :sneaky:

It doesn't matter what label/noun you give them, they've been raised playing together since they were young and have fit in with the expectations of growing up together, mimicking what they see of the other kids at school. Yet some people even get weirded out transgressing the friendzone as though they sky will break open, despite it being a complete mental construct. The tension is because of their highly developed mental image of each other, patch or no patch.

A lot changed/been retconned since then. It's basically not the same game since Ocean took over

Regardless of Patreon rules. If I was Ocean, I would remove any references and direct hints of relationship between Nami and Nika and Noji. No mother or adoptive mother, no roommates, no brother and sister, no siblings and step-siblings. Only Cheeto, Dude and Noji. But at the same time, I would write about their relationship as it is incest.

This creates a little mystery and understatement. We and the game know what's going on, but we pretend that we don't. Again, it doesn't matter if Patreon accepts it. I just think this approach looks interesting.

Good idea! I´m going to try it and i will report here what is the result. (Please don´t recommend stupid things :ROFLMAO:)

My incest kink is with sister and brother relationship, i haven´t brothers or sister, and i think many people with this fetish are like me, only one son, that is what makes the festish stronger.
Anyway if i had a sister i´m not sure i would try something with her, i mean, is just a fetish for me, like golden showers or those things, i don´t think i will try any of my fetish in my life, those are only for enjoy it here.

Off the top of my head, why would Nojiko be so concerned about a possible romantic bond between the MC and Nami? Why would the MC be so concerned about doing stuff with Nami in front of other people (the pre pizza sho conversation)?
If you have to ask this, you really have little idea how the typical society would react to this, even if they aren't related. In society's mind, they may as well as well be. And what a few thousand people here think doesn't fucking matter...the vast majority of society would have an issue with it. Just look at the bullshit happening in the States right now? You really think otherwise?

Fuck me, most Murican's have an issue if someone is more than 6 fucking months older than their partner lol...let alone 2 'effective siblings' who have grown up together.

Hate to break this to you, but people who like incest, play porn games etc etc...post on this forum, are a massive, massive minority section of the world. You're either naïve as fuck or just being obstinate in not wanting to see the obvious truth of reality.
