There's a difference between making compromises in order to make ends meet and knowingly putting out low-quality slop because it will sell regardless. Ocean is a fucking autist(as if we didn't already know) for losing his shit over something like that(a woman has no integrity, oh the horror), but he's not wrong.
This is a decent rebuttal. And it allows me to expand on my point.
QUOTE ME ON THIS:
I've had multiple conversations with multiple devs and users over the years regarding this topic. My stance hasn't changed. To be clear, my stance is, if you're an AVN developer:
GET. YOUR. FUCKING. BAG!
Straight up! No matter what, do what you have to do to increase profits. All I ask is that you have the fucking decency of owning up to it. Don't try to gaslight me. Don't feed me shit and tell me it's icecream. Just own up to it. Don't hide behind your "creative process", throw sand in my eyes and try to convince me to look the other way. Say that developing your game costs money and you felt the need to change your story in order to maintain your income. It's that simple!
Ocean just happens to take the hypocrite approach, hoping someone is dumb and naive enough to believe him. Not once did he come clean and say that he felt SG was threatened when WiAB got banned so he panicked and started making changes that will keep snowballing until both VN's are seen as "clean" by the publishers. Which will undoubtedly hurt the narrative.
Also something else that still bothers me is that there are still A LOT of people who see Ocean as a perfectionist that has it all planned and mapped out. Please open your eyes and use your brain. 3 years into this "plan" to publish a perfect version on Steam he still has not hired a native English speaker to look into the script. Perfectionism? That narrative died, to me, when I saw that Nami jacuzzi scene. I even made a meme about it. Someone who is a perfectionist would hold a release and rework the scene so as to not end up with a choice that just exists to keep the variables because he didn't want to rewrite a huge chunk of code.
As a final note, I'm not defending either Ocean or his friend's gf. It's a situation that just didn't work out. No party is at fault. What I'm pointing out is Ocean's hypocrisy when calling out the girl's position. Because he did and keeps doing the same thing as her. Look at the financial aspect of the project first and foremost. WHICH IS FAIR BTW! Just own up to it.
