Your sarcasm beat mine
4 years and only 32 posts? :coffee::sneaky: Just joking. There's a long, boring reply as to why this has happened this way and it's been debated back and forth and I won't waste your time with it. The game is still in active development, even though slower than anyone in the thread likes. Season 1 is still bigger than a lot of finished games on this site, unless your goal is lewd content. As long as it keeps being in development, and you want to see where the story goes, keep popping in to see if it's been updated.

After all, this is how a pirate keeps their eyes open for treasure ...or should I say booty?

Yep.
Ocean already confirmed the first episode of the second season will be as big as two chapters. But after, imo, Ocean doesn't have any more room for mistakes or “excuses”. He'll have to compromise and reduce his chapter down to 2000-3000 renders (which he confirmed he will do). Considering the speed he pop out those renders, it means 3-4 month per release.

We'll see.

I think it's more a case of "let's open season 2 with a big splash so people know what the reworks being over means" so Ocean's gone bigger than he normally would, and bitten off more than he can chew on both games. I am sure there was a point on the story arc that he could've finished half way through and left us in suspense. Going back to the normal size of around 2000 - 2500 renders isn't the only thing, if he can reliably deliver ~2000 updates every 6 months, it would change people's perceptions about the game.

As it is now, he delivers massive updates so there's a flurry of excitement, then there's tumbleweeds for us to play with for a year. Keeping the excitement up is probably the most important thing Ocean can do moving on. Numbers are great, but people typically have short attention spans. He's got to remember that he might look at the new SG material every day, but we don't get to see it or be excited by the things he hasn't released.

Remember when Zara got screen time and everyone suddenly was interested in this new character? Well, we'll have mysterious red head, content with all the main girls and some of the sides, two days worth of content, such wow! But if it's another 14 months to new material, the excitement returns to a low expectation.

AVN devs need to think about the best ways to keep people on the edge of their seats. Drawing it out for a bigger load doesn't do that.

I love this game, but how hasn't anyone helped this guy by fixing comical spelling and grammar mistakes? I understand English isn't his first language, and he writes better than I could in any other language, but it feels like he doesn't care. This game has been in development for over five years and is on Steam. Does he not want anyone to touch up his writing? I might take this on and release a version with his vision, minus the engrish.

He had people helping him, but they had a disagreement - it's explained a couple of years back somewhere in the thread, I can't be bothered looking for some reason. :sneaky: My guess is Ocean is reluctant to trust people with his script since then.

Feel free to join his discord and note every error in the suggestions. I see plenty worse in games here so I'm not too fazed personally, my typos are far worse. There's the questions of idiom and metaphors that don't translate precisely, vs english lingo/slang that's used inappropriately, and then general mistakes. The general mistakes are the ones that should be fixed, the idiom/slang should be fixed contextually. IN some cases it is what it is, there's no great way to solve the translation of ideas. What's the saying 'to translate is to be a traitor'?

I understand what you're saying. Some games are way worse. I enjoyed it to the point where I'd like to clean up some choppy dialogue and fix the glaring typos and grammatical mistakes. I'm not trying to change the vision. I want to make it more palatable. I'll dig into it and more than likely release something alternative as I'm sure there are plenty of people posting on his discord about it and being ignored at this point.

I don't think so, all things considered Ocean is a very chill guy. About the typos keep in mind that the version here is the first draft, on Steam he made a number of alterations to address this problem. I will not say that it is flawless but it is certainly better than here.

I'm being honest about the suggestions channel on the discord. That's probably the best way to help. There are definitely things that could be improved, I've noticed them myself - things that are not incorrect, but clumsy in english, phrases that could be streamlined. As far as I understand they are written in english, because otherwise, Ocean wouldn't be trying to do a german translation still. The thing is that even if it's first written in english, the slang of english in Germany will still have different phrases to people in the US or the UK. Imagine writing the entire script in cockney slang, or californian idiom.

That's not a major issue for me. Idioms can vary, English or otherwise, depending on where you're from. There is a lot of clumsy English. Some can be a bit jarring and not let the dialogue breathe. I'll join the Discord and see how it goes. If nothing changes I'll clean it up, as I enjoy doing that.

Yeah, there's been updates to the script there, but the leakers aren't going to keep uploading new GB here for a couple of bytes worth of script changes.

Does he not update the Patreon version to match the Steam updates?
As far as I know, yes, but that doesn't mean it gets updated here, or that the compressed version gets updated. it it's only some spelling changes that are stealth updated, then who's going to know to even update it here?

yeah, I know. My point was that chances are that the majority of the errors found was already resolved on the official channels. Steam and Patreon. I think the version here Nami still is with her bikini at the lake, despite in Steam she is topless.

Walkthrough is also available here:

Cheers,
Mr Bubu
MrBubu - thanks for your work, both here and for other AVNs!

A pdf walkthrough is particularly nice for Steam users who may not know how to best mod their Steam experience without using formal workshop mods.

Cheers!! :coffee:
