Yes, yes, we all know. Weird things everywhere. You even failed to mention the Terminator cat infiltration model who's fierce attacks leave only superficial scratches that disappear within hours. And of course, the military mice. And the lake that is on a walking distance and a 6 hour drive away at the same time. BobTheDuck is obsessed over it and is likely going slowly insane each time he tries to resolve this conundrum.Hey I never said the game was bad or unplayable. Just weird. And the football field isn't the only weird thing about it. The way the character's interact with each other (wormy? WTF?), the strange basketball midget subplot, the borderline gay jock harassment among other things. Either this dev is an absolute lunatic/genius or an alien whose only exposure to human society is via tv shows and movies.
I personally like to think Ocean sits in his appartment and goes "what will fuck with Bob's head THE MOST???? I know! Let's tease him with Ayua and Maja, as though they have paths again ....No wait! Even better! I'll make the universe non-euclidean. I'll mess with Bob's paradigm! And, and... I'll make Katie an actual fish! Let him try to drink coffee now without choking!!"Yes, yes, we all know. Possibly the cutest weirdness is Nadia's banana.
We were just kidding, I and yossa. It's what we do sometimes while we all are clearly hooked to the game and like it despite the weirdness and flaws. Some weird things are clearly intentional, just no one knows which ones aren't.![]()
Yeah, the german mastermind: let's go, and hunt down some duck...I personally like to think Ocean sits in his appartment and goes "what will fuck with Bob's head THE MOST???? I know! Such evil villian vibes would be great cinema![]()
Yes! Hunt some duck down by the magical cabin in the woods that takes hours to get to by car unless, of course, you're a couple of kids looking for some alone time in which case it's walking distanceYeah, the german mastermind: let's go, and hunt down some duck...![]()
Nah it's the shooting a basketball with one hand and then just casually making super long shots with ease. It got better towards the later chapters but as a person who plays basketball I was losing it in the first few lmao.Holy shit this dev has never seen a football field in his life. If you tried to drive across one in an ATV that would be like a 5 second drive, you get on and then almost immediately get off. Also the groundskeeper would murder you for messing up his turf.
I'll find my explainer posts of how it doesn't add up and post you the links. Read the other replies around there, there's good rebuttals. But no one needs to hear the rationale debated for the third time...I thought that the cabin time difference was explained by them all moving after "the incident", and that was probably when Noji started the job in the hospital? (that last part was my assumption).
That's one of the few things permanent - Nami refers to it as "the" (definitive term) lake they used to go to with Noji as kidsI'm not going to go too deep into this but, is it possible there is more than one lake in the Oceanverse?![]()
That could just be in reference to any lake though, not necessarily the one they are at. It'd be like asking when's the last time you went to the cinema. That's one of the few things permanent - Nami refers to it as the lake they used to go to with Noji as kids
d "When was the last time I went to the lake?"
scene ad22 with dssb
n "Several years ago."
n "I was always there with Noji..."
The answer is easier than that: he's not americanHey I never said the game was bad or unplayable. Just weird. And the football field isn't the only weird thing about it. Where's the fun in that? Just drop a grenade every once in a while in here and watch people lose their shit all over again...sometimes I can read the room @RNasc4444![]()
I like to think of the Oceanverse as HP's Room of Requirement. The world in SG and WiAB is exactly what the characters and the story, currently being told, needs it to be when it needs it to be that way. I hate that there is no logic or consistency to it because it fucks up my immersion. But...it is what it is. Let's pray that when(if) the final update comes out, it ties everything together. Sadly, right now, I couldn't be more doubtful.I'm not saying we reached any conclusion, but the thread probably can't sustain another descent into logic. The Oceanverse is simply non-euclidean because Leia's drug empire reached critical mass and broke the bounds of time and space. That's the ACTUAL danger of Ocean working on two parallel storylines simultaneously.
It's "the" lake that they went to with Noji. That makes it a specific lake, compared to the ones they didn't go to with Noji. "I was always there with Noji" is a reference to how common it was that they went to the lake because it was close to where they were as kids. The context shows it's the same lake. The rest, just do the math, a six hour drive is how many km and how many countries/states to drive through? That could just be in reference to any lake though, not necessarily the one they are at. It'd be like asking when's the last time you went to the cinema.
Let's say you live somewhere for 15 years, you frequent a movie theatre then move 700 miles away (Amber's gonna bomb 120mph for 6hrsIt's "the" lake that they went to with Noji. It's the simplest conclusion from the script to think they're the same lake. Sure there's a possibility for a second lake, but if I talk about going to "the treehouse, I was always there with Nami" it's a singular place. Plus Nami ties the lake to Summer, by specifically trying to arouse Nika's thoughts about Summer at a place where he has memories of her. The scene is weaker if it's just a random lake that Nika has no prior memories about. The whole scene is about nostalgia, with Nami trying to get Nika to remember better times, and Nika actually remembering things about being younger. We also know they shared their cool lake spot with Summer from the flashbacks, and it was probably more than once - that was the whole point of Nami wearing her hair provocatively.Let's say you live somewhere for 15 years, you frequent a movie theatre then move 700 miles away (Amber's gonna bomb 120mph for 6hrs).
Some years later someone asks "when's the last time you went to the movie theatre?". Would your response be "I've never been to the movie theatre" or would you use your past experience, despite it being 700 miles away and respond "It's been a while"?
All of the inconsistencies will be remedied when Ocean reworks chapters 4-5 in a couple years. The circumstantial evidence, the language used etc all point towards it currently being an oversight. It's far more likely (currently) that it's the same lake and Ocean will either ignore the math, and just hope people don't care, or retcon a whole bunch of stuff for it to make sense. It's also possible Ocean will explain it all very sensibly by adding info that we don't currently have, all the bridging info that helps make sense of how the cabin is so ridiculously far away. But it's really only one render and a crossfade away in an AVN anyway.
Everyone's free to have their own opinion, of course. I'm not going ot keep debating it today though, I'm just repeating what's already been said.
Nah, he'll get overwhelmed by that. It's easier to retcon. And that's what'll happen, an overly complicated explanation that takes 250/300 renders of facial closeups and flashbacks, as Nika explains it all to Amber on her couch, while Amber grows sexually frustrated and just wishes he'd stop talking - and that will be the Amber 'content' for that update. All of the inconsistencies will be remedied when Ocean reworks chapters 4-5 in a couple years. ...and now the game is ruined for me. Now all I picture is Spacey and Nika, cheers pal.Nah, he'll get overwhelmed by that. It's easier to retcon. Summer is actually Keyser Söze, not Sasha.
I'm now reminded of the conspiracy/ninja plot from the old WiaB... and that Keyser Soze story where he kills his own family and then everybody else and their famillies. Imagine the big Summer twist being some crazy stuff like that.Summer is actually Keyser Söze, not Sasha.
