I'm pretty sure that it could be from a number of slavic nationalities. Could be Russian, Belorussian, Bulgarian, you already named Chech. Likely a lot more.
bulgarians are barely slavs by any definition.
and petrova isn't really a fellow balkan slav last name.
she's most likely russian.... even more so, because fuckin' MAFIA.

Bulgarian is a South-Slavic language by classification, names are (usually) based on language or religion. Bulgaria also happens to be an Orthodox country.
I've met a couple Bulgarians and heard them talking, I could recognize some words since I know Russian quite well. Many Bulgarian names are also quite similar to Russian names.
And unless Wiki is mistaken (could easily be), Petrova is one of the most common surnames in Bulgaria. But sure, Russian is more likely.

I'm pretty sure that organized crime families exist everywhere. Sometimes it's in the military, though.

Why is it so popular as a vampire surname?
It's not that popular. But there is this Vampire series, and one of the main character's surname was Petrova. Teens liked that series a lot. I did watch it but wasn't a fan. I liked The Originals more. It was my kind of type, more dark and bloody!

Sometimes? Like getting a cold sometimes? lol

i said barely. and i live in the balkans, i've heard it spoken plenty.
also, serbian and russian is quite similar too but they are 2 very different slavic languages.

the names are similar because petrov means his, petrova means hers. so petrov is the last name but a female would be petrova.
that is present in russia, ukraine, belarus, macedonia, bulgaria and serbia, however, to a much lower extent in the last 20 years.
serbia is orthodox, too, but they use this system more ironically than otherwise in recent times.

thats also why i said its barely slavic. it has some slavic characteristics but has plenty more turkish in it.

Like Myanmar. Thailand, too, but there's plenty of organized crime there as well.

Yes, I was aware of this. Thanks for the longer explanation though.

Thanks, now I understand what you were talking about. (y) Quite the same could be said about Hungarian language being Finno-Ugric.

Nah, not forgetting. I'm not sure I've ever seen two traumatised people heal together, they usually tear themselves apart. I also think, that Bella's been a wild card for way too long a time - Amber's been pretty slack dealing with it, and she can't be that naive when Bella leaves guns around her bedroom, comes home with a new car that Amber didn't pay for... we know Bella doesn't work with Mila waiting tables, so where does her cash come from?

I'm thinking Natural Born Killers or Fightclub are the best examples.

But we know the answer and we're so obnoxiously right :WeSmart:
Wait, the gun on her table is not a lighter ? Is a real gun ?

Soon we will all learn about the ocean's version of the mafia. In fact, not soon, just a figure of speech. What we read recently caused a lot of pain, and this is just the tip of the mafia iceberg. :HideThePain:
