Problem is when a game takes so long people will just start to lose interest, Ive never gotten on him about the long updates and lack of content for the time he has been doing it but add this onto it which will likely make it even less updates and yeah people will forget and move on.

Trying to do 2 games at once with such high quality is a lot, If he had chose one from the beginning and just went with that he would be a lot further through it and this kind of thing might not even be a problem. But yeah im definitely not going to wait another 5 years to potentially get a couple updates, ill check back and stuff but its better to just not expect anything and maybe get a surprise.

I don't think people realise that it's not just as simple as going over to SS. Devs who lose their Patreon and rely on SS have often said that it just doesn't have the reach that Patreon does.

Now yes some very taboo games do well on SS but SG isn't one of those games, it's a story focused avn with not much sexy stuff so it's already at a disadvantage. I do hope Ocean can find a way to continue these games, but the current climate makes things very tricky for many avn devs.

And apparently Steam isn't allowing early access avns anymore so he'd have to sell each chapter separately as full DLC. Let's just cross fingers and hope it all works out.

Yeah I was just over on the SS site and I notice he has about 370 $ subs and
about 2700 who follow. He might want think about putting what he has
now on steam in a few months as an dlc or complete game since he wasn't
far off from 8,000 renders. That's a good amount of game content for SG.
Bigger than half the junk in the AVN's on steam.

Yeah, I'll die on the hill that making 2 games at the same time while probably writing here and there for the supposed other games in this universe was the wrong move. I don't think any developer is safe. Within a few years, sexuality could be banned entirely from games. I think the major developers of visual novels should collaborate and find a solution. Perhaps they could create their own payment methods or collectively agree to move to a secure platform. The most important thing is that they need to unite.

Even if Summer's Gone didn't contain banned content, it implied it. The truly terrifying thing is that everything is now a gray area for Patreon. Anything could get you banned one day.

he's got almost 5k dollars on subscribestar, a lot of people moved over there that's not an issue, let's just hope he releases ch2 sooner rather than later and get a boost to that, it's all up to him at this point

Could be an interesting initiative, but I think most devs prefer to be destroyed before search for a solution together.

About sexuality being out of games in a future I don't think so. I think the game industry is very safe when it comes about consoles or pc. Of course incest and others are forbidden nowadays but all sexuality content? It's just impossible, I don't think about a GTA without nudes, or a new Baldurs Gate... But those are BIG games, if we are talking about avns, then yeah, I think at some point all plattforms are going to ban this type of games, games made by independent devs. It sucks imo. But this future is away, not tomorrow, not in a year.

Eh, to be honest, with a "once huge release a 1.5/2 years" ocean already quit the subscription model and entered indi studio model with purely steam sales. There is a limit to how long space between releases can be before people stop paying subscription.

Here's a step by step guide to run the current build. This method works for all builds like it as well (Steam Builds).

1. Download and Unzip file. If your default "Archive Utility" application doesn't work, I find that "The Unarchiver" works well as an alternative.

2. In the newly unzipped "SummersGone_Season1_Steam-pc" folder, highlight the following files and put them in a new folder labeled "autorun"
- game
- renpy
- SummersGone_Season1_Steam.py
- SummersGone_Season1_Steam.sh

3. Highlight the newly made folder "autorun" as well as the folder "lib" and copy both of them.

4. Right click (or two finger press if you're using a trackpad) on the application "SummersGone_Season1_Steam" and select "Show Package Contents" then open the "Contents" folder and then lastly the " Resources" folder.

5. Paste the aforementioned "autorun" and "lib" folder and if prompted, select "Merge". If "Merge" isn't available, then select "Replace"

6. Return to the "SummersGone_Season1_Steam-pc" folder where "SummersGone_Season1_Steam" application is stored and double click to run the application. If for some reason, you're not allowed to open said application then I've attached a file below to circumvent that roadblock. You simply need to unzip the file and then double click that script and a terminal window will pop up. Drag the aforementioned " SummersGone_Season1_Steam" application in the window and hit "return" or "enter" if you're using a different keyboard. Once the script is finished running, you should be able to open the application now.

7. Once the game is running smoothly, you can now rename and move the application "SummersGone_Season1_Steam" to whatever and wherever you like. There's no need to keep the other files.
