You confuse porn VN and a philosophical novel about the hard life of adolescents. Also, apparently, for you this is something unusual and exciting, for me it is a common routine of gray reality, not all are born in full-fledged families. As mentioned above, if you remove porn from the game (which keeps it), it will cease to be so popular. Let's go back to Roxy, this character was just put into the game and simultaneously thrown into the face of her friends, the story was just buried, they did it "As soon as Roxy fucked, and then immediately her friends" compared to the initial releases, which were better developed both scenarioally and graphically, it looks like an attempt to do everything in a couple of weeks, after months of rest, so to speak, deadline.
And something tells me that talking about redrawing did not carry the idea of copy-paste, I previously laid out a post where absolutely 2 identical characters with different hairstyles.
If you pull anything from any game, it changes it. If you pulled the time/travel mechanic from Life Is Strange, would you still care about the game as much? Probably not. It's the common routine of a teenage girl in private school.

Yes, SS is a pornographic game. I've never said otherwise. But it's a pornagraphic game with more to it than just sex. And it's done fairly well. Much better than the "I'm a peasant boy who found an amulet that made me irresistable to all women" type of story we commonly see. Just like some people like pornographic movies with a plot (even if it's bad) and others just want a compilation of scenes so they can blow their load more quickly, so too do some people want an adult visual novel that's worth spending more than ten minutes playing.

I'm going to assume you didn't grow up during the period of TADS, Adrift and other text engines used to make these sorts of stories before the likes of Unity, Ren'py, etc. There were some great choose your own adventure novels written in those engines. Or, prior to that, an actual book you held in your hand and read. And, no, I'm not talking about Hustler or Penthouse but a bonafide erotic novel. People want that back, coupled with nice artwork to go along with it.

That's obviously because they are supposed to be twin sisters. So they will of course look very similar, though

It's funny cause you're actually not even taking into account that Komaps is a company and thus is taxed way higher than individuals. Just stirring the pot.
They don't care about the facts, as long as they can get away with talking shit about people and causing discord among the forum members. Certain persons here who were promoting other games in this thread, have made it their mission, to bring harm to this dev and the development of this game.

Lets be honest here, its never going mainstream and it is and will remian jerf off material. Look at Dead & Alive series, great gameplay but focus on too much tits destroyed its reputation. Also what does this game even have other than sex scenes that we can consider a non hentai game? The awful minigames?
Bad example. Dead or Alive has Tecmo, a publisher that nickel and dimes their customers to death along with the wrong spank fodder (their newest character is a devil loli instead of a muscle tits girl).

Now if you EVER look up Itagaki's reputation before he was pushed out of Tecmo, you'll see exactly what he liked in working on DoA as well as Ninja Gaiden. Freakishly hard games with male and female fanservice. So risk and reward were high for what you had to learn from it.

Now if you want to get into the minigames here, the basketball one is some bullshit. They should change that to the letter stuff for the fight, have it so that they have stills of your success and failures be that it shows you breaking ankles or getting stuffed and never do that shit again. But I digress.

Well, apparently this argument will never end.
Then I have a series of logical questions:
1. Older versions are more saturated both graphically and plotted, came out more often, what has changed?
2. The concept of a sister does not give a 100% guarantee of similarity, since they will be different, height, body shape, hair, etc., we have obvious twins who looked differently at early stages, do you think this is a qualitative redrawing?
3. Regarding Ren'py, now only lazy does not do on this engine, at that moment when RPGMaker's was thoroughly buried, not to mention more complex engines, the number of one-day authors who made it appear, raised money and ran away even on this site going off scale, apparently not so much so hard on him to rivet the game.
4. Every time I have to go through the game again, it seems very cool for you, to wipe up holes that you already saw in 2016?
5. Just after I saw the new artwork, I canceled a paid subscription that lasted more than 15 months, or you are very rich, or do not pay at all once you are tired. Once you ignore it?
1. The size of updates have changed. You're confusing working at the same speed with releases happening at the same frequency. Obviously, if one works at the same speed but has more work to do, it takes longer to finish. And no, past updates weren't as large as newer ones. I've been playing since .10 or so, and I can see that updates are larger than they were.

2. Twins can look identical, similar or very different. I'm not entirely sure what you're asking. Many characters have been redesigned. There was even an image of all of them floating around a couple weeks ago. It's not as though only Dianne and Debbie were redrawn. Eve, her sister, the nun, the guy at the car dealership, etc. are few of the ones being redesigned.

3. Not sure what you're saying here so I won't comment on it.

4. Blame the Patrons. It's a common complaint in the forums but Patrons have chosen not to vote for save compatibility in favor of new content. That being said, DC has been supplying a save file with all old content completed since .16 or so on the game download page of the site. That way, you can start on the new stuff immediately.

5. I find a couple of dollars a month not very much money. I don't have to be super rich to support the game. I've been a patron for, I think, eight months or so.

Been following the project since 0.1, and seen a lot of things evolve.

This is a F2P, if you pay (support on patreon) or not and play it, that makes you a customer.
Kompas, which is own by Dark Cookie, is a company and the company product until now is Summertime Saga in early access.
The people helping him aren't most likely volunteers but employees.

And it tells how much this project has grown from someone doing this on his spare time to a company trying to pull out a full product.

Opinion time start.
I wish DC manage to finish his project but the project got out of his hands, I mean this has become too big for his way of processing things. More work doesn't always implie more dev time, like more money doesn't always implie less dev time.
It all relies on management, and from what I've seen since 2016, this isn't what DC is good at (sorry DC but you must face it).
This project doesn't need 46 artists, 58 devs and so on ..., it needs a real project manager that can pull up real tasks (and not that non sense they give to patrons) with deadlines cause without deadlines you have procrastination.
For this project to not finish like any other from the same genre, DC should be proactive and not reactive.
Opinion time end.

Btw if anyone can tell me why pledging to his patreon advertise at every tiers "Early access releases" as an advantage since everyone got the releases at the same time and for free ?

What led all these disputes.
1. The author does not sell anything to anyone, all money is transferred to him voluntarily.
2. The author is not obliged to anyone or anything, since the money is given to him of his own accord.
3. The author does not receive the amounts that are received in one year, as he spends taxes ....
4. The author has people who help him to create a project, but having a team does not change the speed of the update, because the author does not owe anything to anyone and does not sell ...
5. The amount of money and the speed of release of the versions are not connected in any way, since the author still has a personal life and the people to whom he has to pay for releasing the project ...
6. A street artist is the same as a professional artist who does his own work, at his own pace, and not at the pace specified by the customer ...
7. Projects like DoA and companies like BioWare are the same as the porn game on the free Ren'Py engine ...
8. The author does not receive the money that was calculated, as he pays tax ... for the fact that he does not sell anything and does not produce anything ....
9. A stable team does not have an exact release date for versions because ... fucking, why?
10. There are always people who believe that you are wrong, even if you have been a patron for more than a year, because the author does not owe you anything, he does not sell anything, but at the same time pays taxes and shares the amount with the development team, by what miracle he pays tax if he cannot explain it, why does he pay tax if he does not sell anything and is not obliged to do anything? Apparently, people think that with the pocket money that parents give them, you also need to pay tax ....

It is even worse than double standards ...
Logic buried ...
DarkCookie is self-employed and pays taxes, although negligible amount.

Not surprising to see people still defending the greed

Pretty sad to see it though

If Summertime Saga was the best game I could understand it a bit more. But its not the best game and other devs release better products in a much shorter amount of time
Haha, freeloaders calling the productive greedy, ironic hypocrisy! Keep biting the hand that feeds, you, and soon you'll receive what you deserve, NOTHING!

I don't see you developing a game. Keep rushing to conclusions, bud. The rest of us can accept that a game that's not using models ripped from DAZ takes time to make.
Not to put too fine a point on it, but a game with models ripped from DAZ can take an obnoxiously long time to make as well. For example, A Wife and Mother.

Yes, but AWAM aren't really pornographic, yet. It's telling a story and setting up stuff for the future. The last release I played, there wasn't even any sex yet, except for maybe one scene with the husband. It's been about four months since, though. Very similar to Dual Family, really, in that regard. It was writing a story and not rushing to throw porn into the mix. Also the same for Where The Heart Is.

I guess I don't get why people need to come to these slow paced erotic novels and complain about a slow pace whenre there are hundreds of VNs out there that are much faster paced that they can choose from. It reminds me of the people that would go into an RPGMaker game thread and complain that it's RPGM.
