If you pull anything from any game, it changes it. If you pulled the time/travel mechanic from Life Is Strange, would you still care about the game as much? Probably not. It's the common routine of a teenage girl in private school. You confuse porn VN and a philosophical novel about the hard life of adolescents. Also, apparently, for you this is something unusual and exciting, for me it is a common routine of gray reality, not all are born in full-fledged families. As mentioned above, if you remove porn from the game (which keeps it), it will cease to be so popular. Let's go back to Roxy, this character was just put into the game and simultaneously thrown into the face of her friends, the story was just buried, they did it "As soon as Roxy fucked, and then immediately her friends" compared to the initial releases, which were better developed both scenarioally and graphically, it looks like an attempt to do everything in a couple of weeks, after months of rest, so to speak, deadline.
And something tells me that talking about redrawing did not carry the idea of copy-paste, I previously laid out a post where absolutely 2 identical characters with different hairstyles.
Yes, SS is a pornographic game. I've never said otherwise. But it's a pornagraphic game with more to it than just sex. And it's done fairly well. Much better than the "I'm a peasant boy who found an amulet that made me irresistable to all women" type of story we commonly see. Just like some people like pornographic movies with a plot (even if it's bad) and others just want a compilation of scenes so they can blow their load more quickly, so too do some people want an adult visual novel that's worth spending more than ten minutes playing.
I'm going to assume you didn't grow up during the period of TADS, Adrift and other text engines used to make these sorts of stories before the likes of Unity, Ren'py, etc. There were some great choose your own adventure novels written in those engines. Or, prior to that, an actual book you held in your hand and read. And, no, I'm not talking about Hustler or Penthouse but a bonafide erotic novel. People want that back, coupled with nice artwork to go along with it.
