I think he's genuinely just too lazy to manage people doing work. Hiring people with better skills will elevate the management aspect, but DC doesn't want that, he wants shit to be as laidback as possible and just draw stuff.
Well there's also that, it's in human nature, people tend to abuse the power and facilities they're given with. I've seen more than enough cases of people finding excuses to avoid working while expecting a full pay or bonus on their monthly wages to the point that its radicicolous.

Honestly I'm just a bit jaded from devs I've supported in the past becoming milkers, like Snats is another example I'd use
Like Impure who made the same cuck/netorare game never finished it and bilked people for a couple years till the voices against him got to loud and he just vanished.

We're only on page 12 now. Man, I'm disappointed.
One player on PH has more views of their Summertime Saga playthrough videos than this thread has over 8 years of presence on F95. That's just one player on one video site.
While there is a modicum of truth here, the vast majority (well over 90% of the 7 million registered users on the entire of F95 - probably closer to 99%) have never and will never supported any adult game creator on Patreon, Subscribestar or the like.

There are fewer than 600,000 paid subscribers on Patreon who contribute to adult game creators. Every single one would have to also have an account on F95 for us to say that 9% of people on F95 contribute to those creators.

F95 is the target audience for people first starting out to get name and game recognition, and to build a core group of fans... But even then, if a game strikes gold (such as Summertime Saga did) - it outgrows F95's influence.

Turn off personal search settings in your web search engine and do a search for Summertime Saga. I just did on Google and (yuck) Bing. F95 isn't even in the first couple of pages of results. DC's website is. IGN is. Reddit is. The wiki is. YouTube playthrough videos are. Patreon. Uptodown. Amazon. Itchio. TikTok. etc. Once someone sees videos or other items about Summertime Saga somewhere else, when they do a web search for it - they are more likely to go somewhere else than here to learn more.

Remember, that initial drop each month isn't all "lost" subscribers. A lot of that is from "soft declines" from credit/debit card companies for one reason or another that Patreon tries again later in the month. Subscribers with "hard declines" then also fix their payment situation over the month, as well. That may actually be a lot of that drop/rebuild. Also, under the old system, memberships were renewed on the first of the month for everyone - so "soft declines" and "hard declines" would look higher at the beginning of the month because of those. At some time in the recent past, Patreon moved over to rolling renewals (renewing on the same day of the month the new membership started) - so those dips may decrease over time. You can see the difference with smaller, newer developers and how their numbers fluctuate compared to more established developers.

Seriously. Right? It's inexcusable. But I'm not paying anything for it. And his own attitude is similar. He doesn't give a fuck that people talk shit about him and give him shit, overall. He even states "But at least people can play our game for free, you know... It is what it is. You know, people are gonna complain, but you know."

And so since he sees that he is making the game available for free, he feels he has the ability to manage his game however he wants, in the end.

It happens every single month. At least be genuine in your argument - or understand how Patreon works before making a ridiculous claim.

Back when there were people who actually talked about the game - you would find this is not the case. There were several PC players complaining about the 4:3 aspect ratio and the black bars that I responded to. Also, when android is your largest/growing player demographic - it makes sense. Android is the largest gaming platform around the world, and brings in the most (45-55%) of all video gaming dollars, annually.
I have noticed that you tend to type a lot to say nothing substantial, like you think that extending basic sentences and being verbose makes your nonsense somehow true.

People defending patreon devs is always so funny to me.
For a large portion of them they'll do good work on a consistent schedule until they hit it big and then the milking begins while they kick back and relax. You'll be lucky to see them put out an update or two a year.
While it's true that SS has slowed down on updates quite significantly as of late, it's also hard to deny that the game isn't being worked on during that same time. I'm sure that I've stated this in multiple posts by now, but anyone can see the game being developed at least 3-4 times a week on average, and see the work that's being put into it to improve the over all experience.

It's hard to get a sense that DC is milking anyone when you can literally watch him build the game almost daily.

I honestly don't know how other developers handle their business, but are any of them doing weekly streams to show their fan base what's going on? Are those devs having regular communication though live streams, who have attempted to explain the process countless times? Are there other devs who offer the game for free on their sites for literally anyone?

I've looked into a few and I see that they have a monthly, to semi monthly update post for their backers.

Their games are behind a pay wall, with higher tiered editions for a few extra scenes and outfits.

A lot of these games use the 3D models and the assets that as I understand it, are majority bought from asset stores. This means that it's not just the dev working on the game, but everyone else (probably hundreds of model makers) who've created something they've used, that allows for that game to be made quicker.

AFAIK, SS is entirely the work of one artist who creates every single scene, character and pose from scratch, and I honestly would prefer it remain that way, to keep consistency throughout.

It's honestly a head scratcher when you (people in general) try and compare the work and scope of SS to other games who for all intents and purposes, have hundreds of people working on a single game, be it directly or indirectly.

as of late is a funny way to say 3 years. he streams for 1 hour a day. night city productions (baal) streams 8+ hour days. not making it a pissing contest and he definitely works off stream, but the amount you see on a daily basis is extremely low on every standard.

Your opinion of me does not change the fact you are incorrect in your assumption about the data. I would rather think that you weren't aware you were incorrect than the alternative that you are deliberately misleading others.

Again, as shown below - the dip that you mentioned happens every month and has nothing to do with either the abandoned flag or DC's regular end of month report.

My point is that he's one of very few creators (two I now know of) and the only one I know of so far, who's created this fairly large game from scratch, and communicates through his stream on a nearly daily basis. That alone is noteworthy. Adding in that his game is free is noteworthy as well.

And it's roughly an hour and a half of streaming, not an hour, on average if we're being specific.

We obviously both know that he works offline because there are areas of the game he prefers to keep from people to hide portions of the story line.

Is Night City Productions creating the assets themselves? Are they offering their game for free?

It's the combination of things I've mentioned in my previous post that make the game stand out, not just the streaming.
