Probably a higher up riding his and other people's asses. I don't really know much about what he did before, and I can't say I really cared anyway. But yeah, a project with no one organizing things is equally shit.
No updates in two years. It was just labelled as abandoned and so the creator is actually releasing something to keep the donations rolling in. He makes between $66K - $200K per month rom subscribers, but he gets away with doing nothing.

The most watched vvideo of Summertime Saga on Pornhub has only 4.5 million views, whereas this thread has 40.8 million views. You'd probably need to add up all the SS videos on the Hub to even come close to the amount of views this thread has gotten.

A lot of those views on pornhub will never download the game. I have used a video from there as a walkthrough before after hearing about the game here first. Whats undeniable is that the abandoned tag has had an effect on the developer. If the deadline was 12 months instead of 18 you could argue more that its a coincidence.

Edit: Anyone who believes the line served by the megascammer DC that there's some testing going on with a working beta right now should logically also believe me when I'm saying I'm testing it right now because both claims present the exact same amount of evidence and I'm much more trustworthy because I'm not the one who sold the TU as something that will take "3-4 months" and then laid back for 3+ years (last normal SS release was in March 2021) cashing in over $2 million dollars while selling wallpapers, fake progress bars, fake status reports and eventually being forced to say something after breaking the deadline 11 times over just to say in effect that that the TU promise won't fully happen for another year AT MINIMUM, thus making me an abject clown who turned 3-4 months into 4-5 years.
So if you believe DC you better believe me. Also, Earth is flat and the Moon landings are fake.

Ping me when there's a playable update.Your opinion of me does not change the fact you are incorrect in your assumption about the data. I would rather think that you weren't aware you were incorrect than the alternative that you are deliberately misleading others.
Again, as shown below - the dip that you mentioned happens every month and has nothing to do with either theabandonedflag or DC's regular end of month report.

Yes and no. Yes art assets are being work on. But, the game part isn't clear. Nobody really showed how is the game part is going. So.. from new guys perspective all you can see is a game that had no updates in years and creator drawing and just talking. Drawing and talking is just that, drawing and talking.
I'm hopeful that STS is being worked on. But rules are rules. Once update is out, the tag will be removed. It's easy as that.

How will the Tech Update be released and what content will be accessible?
The initial Tech Update release will only consist of the main "home" stories (Jenny and Debbie), 1st day at school and minor locations. Despite having the majority of the game converted for the Tech Update, this will be the first "part" of the game to be released publicly.
Here are the reasons why we are releasing the game in parts:
All game developers dread this question, but If testing goes well, we hope to release the first build towards the end of the coming month (May). As always, patrons will have exclusive access to a high speed download ahead of public availability.
After the initial release, how long will it take to get the rest of the "parts"?
Our current goal is to aim for a release cadence of roughly 2 months, starting with the initial release. This should give enough time for us to assess how well the content and any improvements were received and also implement the next parts to be released and have them playtested. At present the plan for these releases is for them to be character centric, focusing on adding in whole character routes at a time.
Can I help playtesting the upcoming content?
We currently are full with the QA/testing team but further announcements will be made in case we require additional help.
