Yes. It should theoretically also use less of your PC's RAM and boot up faster.
I have no idea where everyone is getting this nonsense from. They're not porting the code from BASIC to Assembly. It's Ren'Py. They're replacing the code that uses the old method with the new image layering method. This will reduce the image file sizes at the same resolution -- and then be immediately cancelled out by the switch from 1024x768 to 1920x1080. Nothing about what they're doing is going to reduce RAM usage or speed up startup time. You're expecting too much from this Tech Update!

Nor is the code laughably inefficient, with thousands of unneeded variables wasting memory. There's nothing wrong with it, other than having two ways of doing things coexisting. The Tech Update isn't going to fix the fundamental problems of Ren'Py games. It's just going to change the resolution and make it easier to make changes to old scenes. If you're hoping for more than that, you're going to be disappointed.

My bad I thought they were actually going through the code and optimizing it/redoing parts of it so it runs smoother as well as the aspect ratio change.
I'm sure they're optimizing the code, but don't expect much from that. They may save a few clock cycles here and there. They may reduce the memory profile by a kilobyte or two. The reason to do it would just be to make the code easier to maintain. There is no amount of optimization that they could do that would be noticeable to the user.

sorry ... I didn't want to start a "glass of water storm" ... I just wanted to draw attention to a problem that occurred in my game ... sorry again

Your weird bug has nothing to do with the server meltdown, those happen every few days

any word if Judith is actually getting an update? love thick girls and would love to see more of her, I am aware of the tech update has her down the line but it feels like she keeps getting pushed back further down the pipeline and seems to go nowhere

She is, but you'll be waiting a while. If we assume the Tech Update is done by the end of the year (hah!) and an average of 4-6 months to finish "normal" updates, you can expect to see Judith sometime around early- to mid-2024.

As dude above replied, her update didn't move since she won her poll over 2 years ago, just like R(h)onda's and Annie's. The tracker didn't take into account the ~2 years it'd take for the tech build

Just like almost everything in the game : don't do anything until the phone hints tell you to

  1. 3 posts in 2 years
  2. well because these are just extending the old scenes/adding new animations
  3. With the developer of LoML you can track his progress
  1. You stated you weren't one to usually complain - the point is that of the only 12 times you have posted, 3 of them were complaints about update frequency. That shows you are inclined to complain when feeling the need to post here.
  2. The first four - 3 were main story updates, finishing the main story in the game. (from my FAQ that I created because people don't search or decide to exaggerate in order to either gain attention or feel more important)
    v0.20.1: 05 May 2020 (main story) -> 5+ months
    v0.20.5: 07 Sep 2020 (main story 2) -> 4 months
    v0.20.7: 25 Oct 2020 (Odette Halloween) -> 1.5 months
    v0.20.9: 31 Mar 2021 (main story finished) -> 5 months
    The second four are the pre-tech updates with 25+ additional animations/scenes of the sexual exploits of the MC while the development team is working on the conversion to 16:9, code fixes, etc of the tech update.
    If they truly wanted to milk, they could have just said "fuck it" and not released anything for the past 16 months. Instead, they chose to release additional scenes while the process continues.
  3. You can track the progress of the development of Summertime Saga, as well.

    (And like Omnikuken said, just wait until that last bar comes alive - even more people will come in to complain because people don't want to understand how project development works)

76%: 22 Aug 2022 (388/506 tasks)
75%: 03 Aug 2022 (382/503 tasks)
75%: 10 Jul 2022 (371/491 tasks)
73%: 10 Jun 2022 (358/484 tasks)
69%: 07 May 2022 (330/475 tasks)
72%: 29 Apr 2022 (227/315 tasks)
69%: 07 Apr 2022 (211/302 tasks)
70%: 03 Apr 2022 (209/301 tasks)
68%: 07 Mar 2022 (202/295 tasks)
66%: 08 Feb 2022 (191/287 tasks)
63%: 04 Jan 2022 (173/273 tasks)

"Not really progressing". They almost doubled the # of tasks and did over 200 of them in ~8 months, not bad for 3 dudes doing it part-time.

Also Count Morado : there's a timeloop in your unholy FAQ > it goes from Oct 2021 to Nov 2022 and back to Jan 2022

There's no such folder in Summertime Saga, but I know that there's blinking in the Naughty Tribute Mod. When you're using a mod, ask for support in the thread for that mod.
